We had an amazing experience. The vineyards were gorgeous and staff were so friendly and informative. Both vineyards ship internationally which was really nice for those traveling far. I believe our tour guide was Francisco. He made the trip even more enjoyable with great information and very friendly. 10 out of 10.

Itinerary

Your morning starts with a pickup from Piazza della Calza by air-conditioned minibus. Relax while your driver heads out of Florence and onto the Chianti Road, considered one of the most scenic driving routes in Italy.

After about one hour on the road, make your first stop at a winery and wine-tasting school. Taste four types of wine and learn about their distinct flavors from a wine producer. Pair your wines with balsamic vinegar, truffle oil, and extra virgin olive oil.

Get back in the minibus and continue to a winery in the Vernaccia white grape region near San Gimignano. Follow the winemakers through the vineyard and wine cellar and taste Vernaccia, a rosè, and a Colli Senesi wine.

Your third stop is the Tuscan hill town of San Gimignano, where you spend about 1.5 hours of free time exploring the town center. Your day ends with drop-off in Florence at about 5pm.

Our wine tours with Alessandro were absolutely unforgettable! 🍷 We visited two beautiful wineries and explored the medieval town of San Gimignano, learning so much about the region’s history and winemaking. Alessandro was the perfect guide—knowledgeable, friendly, and kind. We shared great laughs, made new friends, enjoyed delicious bites, and even had the option to ship our favorite wines home. A truly perfect day in Tuscany— everything I pictured! The trip into town was a special treat as well. Highly recommend this tour.

Great interary-could use a bigger van

Great wineries and great that small group. Van was very small and tight for 7 people, for this price the expectation would be a nicer and larger van where everyone isn’t crammed together all day. Otherwise well laid out day.

Regarding the vehicle, our tours use a standard 8-seat passenger van, which is the typical minivan size used for small-group wine tours throughout Tuscany. In fact, this is the standard vehicle category used by virtually all tour operators for groups of this size. While space can feel more limited when all seats are occupied, the vehicle is designed and licensed to comfortably accommodate up to 8 passengers plus the driver. Left a lot to be desired

This tour left a lot to be desired. The participants were packed into the minivan like sardines. I was in the very back and could not hear any of the info the tour leader gave us on the rides throughout the day. The wineries were nice and there was plenty of alcohol given but the scheduling of the tour was really bad given that it did not include lunch and the 2 winery stops made up the first 4-5 hours of the tour. We drank a lot from morning until afternoon but were not given an opportunity to get any food of substance until the very last hour and a half of the trip in San Gimignano. The ride back to Florence was windy and uncomfortable and made me extremely car sick. This is my first bad experience booking with Viator and I would not book this tour again. Lastly, I paid a good amount for the tour which looks like it was less than half of the what I paid per person closer to the date of the tour. Very disappointing.

For this reason, your comment about feeling “packed like sardines” is a bit unclear to us. We understand that the seating position can affect audibility, and we always encourage guests to inform the guide during the tour if they experience any difficulty, so adjustments can be made where possible. As for the road back, please note that the route is almost completely straight. However, we always encourage travelers who may suffer from motion sickness to sit in the front. If you had informed your tour leader about this, we are sure he would have done everything possible to help you feel more comfortable. In terms of the itinerary, as you can see from the tour description, the tour is designed as a wine-focused experience, including tastings paired with local products such as cheeses, cured meats, and bruschettas. As outlined in the tour description, a full lunch is not included. This information is clearly indicated on the website. Additionally, there is scheduled free time in San Gimignano, where guests have the opportunity to enjoy additional food at their leisure. As for the tour cost, it is possible that there may be a promotional rate on the last available spots, which is an absolutely common policy. However, the full tour price corresponds completely to the services offered, which are also clearly outlined on the platform before booking. As the price for the experience offered was acceptable to you at the time of booking, it is unclear to us which cost-related aspects you did not appreciate. Based on your review, it seems that our Tuscany Wine Tour may not have been the perfect fit for your expectations. Perhaps one of our tours less focused on wine tastings and more oriented toward a broader range of local food experiences would have suited you better, as we offer several options. One of the wineries was good and the other was sos so, though the views from the second were very good… it would be nice to have options on which wineries you wish to visit rather than them be random as one of them we already knew about but were able to assist in upgrading the experience for the group to some better wine.. the San Gimignan part of the trip was nice but the guide pushed everyone towards a store he was too familiar with… the guide was fine but not exceptional… worth doing but has no wow factor

This is an absolute must if you are looking to visit Tuscany in a day and learn more about wine. The two wineries we visited were beautiful and the wine was delicious. One was a small family run winery and the other is a much bigger winery. It’s nice to see the difference and you can try wine and olive oils at both. Perhaps the best part of the day is a stop in a medieval village and it was amazing. We had so much fun and got beautiful pictures of a town I’d love to return to. I highly recommend the tour. The tour guide is extremely knowledgeable about the area and provides great information.

Two good wineries and a stop at a neat town to end it. Guide is good, small group oriented and a lot of fun. Does not seem like the wineries you are brought to are chosen because the guide is paid extra to bring groups in, they’re actually pretty good.

Charming Chianti trip

We did 2 wineries/tastings and visited a mediaval village with guide and driver Valentina. She is amazing, knowlegdable and friendly. The first winery was very authentic in a magnificent location. Hence diffucult for the second winery to transcend that experience. Loved the small group and the comfortable van. On top start and end point were next to our hotel. Top experience.
