- Although much of the tour is done inside the castle complex, this will not be under cover.
- Bags over 30L in volume are not permitted inside the castle and the castle does not provide a locker system for the storage of luggage.

- Edinburgh Castle is built on top of the core of an old volcano, the ground is often uneven and at times steep. Be prepared to be on your feet for the full duration of the tour. People with mobility issues may not get the most from this tour.

Our guide Max was extremely knowledgeable about the history of the castle. He provided guidance on what exhibits were the most knot worthy. I highly recommend touring with this company
Wonderful tour! Our guide Eual was fantastic, making history come alive with personal stories and humor sprinkled in. You can walk the castle alone, but a good guide makes it so much better.
Worth doing. Edinburgh Castle is a must see place when you're here. So much history to learn about and the tour guides are great and very knowledgeable.
Euan was an excellent guide! He knew so much information, and clearly had a passion for teaching people about the castle. He put history in a context that was fun and enjoyable! I would recommend his tour to future friends traveling here!
Totally worth the cost. Not only did we get a ticket into the castle but learned some history along the way. Ben was our tour guide and was great.
My husband and I throughly enjoyed Jess as our guide . She made the history of Edinburgh Castle very interesting!!!
It was really worth it. The castle is huge so having someone to explain and explore with you is priceless. Our tour guide, Big G (Graeme), was amazing! So knowledgeable and very friendly with a great sense of humor. Could not have asked for a better guide, just wish the tour was longer!! lol! But our guide hit the highlights and then we had the rest of the day to explore the rest.
There is a lot to take in about the history of the castle. To appreciate the tour more I suggest reading some of this beforehand.
Also be prepared for lots of people from many other tour groups. The guide did a good job of speaking loudly enough for people to hear but in some areas of the castle it was very congested.
Sabella was fantastic!! Her energy and knowledge provided us a such a great experience and information about Edinburgh Castle. Highly recommended!
I was surprised to discover a castle is a town not a palace, so the tour was more than and less than I expected. I loved hearing about the history prior to the 1800’s!
Go early and plan to stand in line to see Crown Jewels and St Margret’s chapel. There was a wedding in the chapel! So happy for the couple, but disappointed I did not allow extra time so I could wait until the wedding was over.
We toured Edinburgh Castle with Step, who was fantastic. She was knowledgeable, funny, and respectful of everyone in the group. From start to finish, she demonstrated her knowledge of Scotland and the castle. This tour is not to be missed. Glad we did it on our first full day!
We thoroughly enjoyed the tour. I’m Muñoz. Our tour guide, Campbell, was funny and knowledgeable in all aspects of the castle. We couldn’t have asked for a better guide. I highly recommend this tour as it gives you all the highlights and then time on your own to check out different spots in the castle area. If I could give it more than five stars, I would.

He answered all questions put to him, not only about the castle but the city.
His anecdotes, but also real history facts, were informed and interesting.
Informative and fun. The guide is very personal and humorous, with knowledge of the history of the castle. He’s engaging and happy to answer any questions. He also got one of the group to be one of the historical characters to demonstrate how he was quartered and beheaded!
This was a great tour and 20,000 foot overview of all the castle houses- tons of museums- dungeons, Crown Jewels, chapels- loads of history. Our guide, Graeme, was amazing- you can tell he loves sharing the stories - it was awesome!

Mathew our tour guide, was amazing! He gave us historical facts and stories which enhanced the whole experience! He was funny, personable and very knowledgeable about the castle. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!
Lovely guide Steph was knowledgeable about her history and funny. It felt a bit rushed with lots of interesting information but discombobulated. The other issue is that Viator need to have clear flags or umbrellas or at least let us know if there is another travel company logo we should look for. We didn’t see anything with a particular logo or were informed of what to look for and we had to ask around since there were several other tour groups in the same area.

67 year old mam with two daughters aged in their 40s here. We found this tour fantastic and were guided by Jess who has an amazing knowledge of the history, not only of the castle but also of Edinburgh. Her love of the history of her obviously much loved city coupled with a fantastic sense of humour was wonderful. As we visited the various buildings within the walls we were easily able to recall her words and sense the emotions buried within. We go to Edinburgh at least once a year and are already planning our next two along with other friends and family. I believe the first place to visit is the Castle and spend the whole day.
Try and get Big G he was awesome. So knowledgeable, without being boring. I really enjoyed his tour.

It was our first time in Scotland and took the Edinburgh castle tour with Jess as our guide. It was amazing and incredible insightful, Jess is hilarious and very knowledgeable. It was great to learn about the castle and its history. Would highly recommend!

Edinburgh Castle was closed that day - disappointed. Discription does tell you the day of week when they close and they should tell you. My main reason for tour was the Castle which we were able to look at through distant gates.
