Exceptional tour for fan and non-fan alike
Even if you — unlike your wife, husband, partner … — is not a dedicated Outlander fan, this tour is fascinating. Our driver/guide, Kim, was informative, entertaining, engaging and an excellent driver as we visited five locations that were enlightening to both my wife (the Outlander fan) and me, more into the history. If you stay at the W Edinborough (highly recommend) the bus station pick-up/drop-off point is just a block away. Each stop had unique value, including Blackness Castle (where Jamie burst through a window and rescued Claire, I am told) and the last stop in Culross, where some key scene played out in the courtyard outside a window where Claire could be seen from the ground. I am told it was touching.

Hop-on-hop-off History Lesson
Hop -on-hop-off buses are really the best way to see a city like Edinburgh. Buy the pass to ride all three buses because the routes are slightly different with the blue bus going all the way out to Leith. The live guides or the recorded guides on the buses are a great way to learn about the city. You can get off at any stop and get back on by simply scanning your ticket, so make sure you keep it handy. The tour passes are 24 hours or 48 depending on which one you purchase and start the first time you get on a bus.

A nice day trip
It was a nice day trip. The fishing village we stopped at was very quaint and St. Andrews is a lovely city. We enjoyed walking on the Old Course and seeing such a memorable place in real life. The employees there were so nice, even taking pictures of us on the bridge. The church ruins are worth a walk through too. The town we stopped at on the way back was worth a quick visit. Our tour guide did a nice job sharing information and was very pleasant.

Amazing Tour
We had an amazing time on our trip to the Highlands and would highly recommend this tour! Our guide, Andrew, was fantastic. He was incredibly friendly and entertaining, sharing lots of jokes, stories, music and interesting facts about each place we visited. He managed to show us so much without ever making the trip feel rushed or overwhelming. The accommodations were wonderful, and everyone we met along the way was so friendly and welcoming. It was also great not having to worry about booking anything ourselves, which made the entire experience feel easy and stress-free. Overall, it was an incredible trip, and we would definitely recommend this tour to anyone looking to explore the Highlands!

Great tour and guide - would have been excellent with AC
The 5-star review is for the driver and overall experience but not for the nonfunctional AC on the tour bus. John L. was a great chauffeur and tour narrator providing a lot of historical information along the way, along with some funny jokes. The tour was well organized with sufficient time at each stop and was a great way to see several historical sites outside of Edinburgh. Highly recommend taking the cruise on Loch Lomond and purchasing tickets for the Stirling Castle tour as these were excellent. The only downside was that we discovered after about 10 minutes on the motorway that the bus air conditioning was not working. John and several passengers tried to get it working, without success. We credit John for keeping his cool (no pun intended) and managing the situation as best he could, since he too was impacted by this problem. But the day was quite hot and the ride unbearably hot at times. The tour company, Timberbush, should do a better job ensuring that everything on a tour bus is in working order or be prepared to bring a replacement bus.

The BEST Way to See a City
I recommend the Hop On Hop Off bus experience for any city you visit. I have used it in 4 different European cities. The bus gives you a great orientation to the city, historical information and anecdotes, through ear buds, as you travel by the location. If you get the 48 hour ticket, it’s helpful for traveling to sights you may want to get off, visit and then hop back on to another location.

Excellent guide
Our guide was fantastic - Even though she was from Spain she has lived and worked in Edinburgh for many years. She definitely knows the city. Her English was clear and easily understood. I am coming back to Edinburgh with myself husband soon and I hope to do this tour again

Fishing Villages and Ruins
This all-day tour with our multigenerational family was an absolute delight! Our guide, Stuart, provided knowledgeable commentary and tweaked the schedule slightly to ensure we had optimal time in both the fishing villages and St Andrews. Our group of twelve highly recommends this itinerary and Timberbush services.

Spooky family fun
Good, wholesome family fun with a spooky twist. Ghost stories and historical facts on a fun ride around the city. We are locals so knew some of the stories but liked learning new stuff too. I took my 13 year old daughter who loves a ghost story as much as I do and she enjoyed it.

A must-do for first time visitors!
This tour was absolutely worth the money and the day trip to see the various sites in Scotland, including many sites where "Outlander" was filmed. Our tour guide, Gary, was so knowledgeable about every stop we visited. He was very kind and polite, very professional throughout the entire tour. Our tour gave us the freedom to roam and explore on our own, within a time limit. It was nice for my husband and I to simply visit what we wanted to visit without having to follow our tour group around. The sites were stunning; the castles, the countryside, the weather held up nicely as an added bonus. I highly recommend this tour for not only any "Outlander" fan, but anyone who has never been to Scotland before. It is absolutely worth the money and time!

Wonderful tour
We had a wonderful day with our tour guide, Ryan. He shared interesting stories along the drive all about Scotland and the history. He answered my many questions very well. The castle’s were beautiful and he took us right to the easy entrances. We never had to wait for anything. Highly recommend.
