Luca and Claudia’s Bologna Local Pasta Cooking Class was easily one of the highlights of our trip. From the moment we arrived, they made everyone feel welcome with their warmth, humor, and genuine passion for what they do. Their knowledge of local cuisine and traditions added so much depth to the experience—it felt like more than just a class, but a true taste of Bologna’s culture.
The atmosphere they created was relaxed, engaging, and so much fun. We loved meeting people from all over the world, sharing stories while learning how to make authentic pasta from scratch. Every step was explained clearly, with plenty of hands-on guidance, and lots of laughs along the way.
And the food—absolutely incredible. From the rich, flavorful ragù to the perfectly crafted pasta, refreshing spritz, lovely wine, and indulgent gelato, everything we made (and enjoyed!) was delicious. The setting itself was just as special—intimate, charming, and the perfect backdrop for such a memorable experience.
We left full, happy, and inspired—and would recommend this class to anyone visiting Bologna. Truly unforgettable!

Excellent experience to learn how to make local style food while learning the history of the region. Great for groups, families or solo travellers! Francesa and Kate were wonderfully patient with us!

The cooking class experience was spectacular. My husband and my son (13 yr old) really loved it too. Claudia and Francesca were extremely hospitable and knowledgeable about their craft. The pasta we made turned out delicious too. I would highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting Bologna. 😋😄

Had a fun experience with Kate and Bea. Both were friendly, courteous and knowledgeable about pasta making... and mixing drinks! Had a good group of people in the 3 hour, 3:00 class. The pasta was really good, as was the bolognese sauce that was prepared beforehand. So happy that after several trips to Italia that my friend and I final took a class, was worthwhile! And we got to take our extra tagliatelle with us to enjoy on our next stop! Thanks to Kate & Bea

Marina and Stella were both fantastic. We had so much fun learning to make pasta. It was so much easier than expected. The time went by so quickly and the pasta was delicious. They even accommodated a dietary preference. I would highly recommend!!

We had a fantastic time making tagliatelle under tuition of Katrina and Ali. Great fun and the other group members were lovely too. Easy to follow instructions and we were so proud of our achievements which we enjoyed eating. The Ragu supplied was delicious and making Spritz was fun.
Would highly recommend this fun activity in Bologna the food capital of Italy !!! Planning to trying to make at home now

Great setup for our culinary experience..
A glass of Prosecco and introductions set for much conversation. The arrangement of the pasta lesson was perfect; to engage with our fellow travellers. We watched, listened and We asked questions easily; much laughter and enjoyment. The planned breaks to allow our pasta to rest, with how to create a spritz was brilliant, such fun. Thank you for your sharing your expertise. 🥰🥂🍷🥂🍷

This was such a great experience, Kate was our host and she was fab.
The food was amazing, the drinks were great and we had such a good time!
Livier_M, Jun 2026
Our teacher, Kate was wonderful, engaging, instructive, knowledgeable, funny, and helpful. We were greeted with Bologna’s Pignoletto and chunks of mortadella and bread to get us in the right mood. Aprons, rolling pins, wooden boards and stations are provided for all learners. Kate provided a nice overview of what to expect, instructions, and we started to make the dough for the tagliatelle. During a brief wait time for the dough to raise, Sophie, the assistant instructed us on how to make an Aperol spritz (non alcoholic versions are available). We made a portion of tagliatelle, with great instructions. A flavorful meat Ragu was served with the pasta, shredded Parmesan and red wine. Toward the end of the meal, gelato and aged balsamic vinegar was served along with espresso and an herby aperitif. Honestly, our family of four walked away fully satisfied, satiated, with a smile on our faces and a full belly. This class surpassed our expectations.

Really fun class with excellent hosts Bea and Kate! Definitely going to be making fresh pasta at home now and the Ragu was delicious!

A really great experience! I’ll be recommending it to anyone I know going to Bologna. I learned a lot!

You need to build up your biceps and triceps before taking this class, but you’ll have a lot of fun. The wines and spritzes help. It is actually easy to make pasta, but I will use a machine to do the hard work at home. It’s worth the effort. The instruction was clear and both Kate and Frencesca were very entertaining. And who would have thought to put aged balsamic on gelato?
Sue_F, May 2026
We had a really good time at the pasta making course. It was fun, enjoyable and the food and drink were flowing. They did say we would get the menu sent on an email but we never did!!!
I would recommend as it was very easy to find and a really good afternoon activity. Both hosts were knowledgeable and friendly and the pasta was delicious.
Response from Host, Jun 2026
Thank you so much for your lovely review! We’re delighted to hear that you had such a fun afternoon and enjoyed the food, drinks, and company of our hosts.
Regarding the recipe, you should have received it via an automatic email after the experience. It’s possible that it ended up in your spam or junk folder, so it may be worth checking there as well.
If you still can’t find it, please send us a message and we’ll be happy to resend it to you :)

Francesca and Stephanie were so engaging and knew the perfect level of humour to add into their tutoring. The class was clearly taught, engaging and fun - many laughs were had. With the lesson, the refreshments throughout and the overall experience the evening was such great value and I would heartily recommend anyone going to Bologna or near by, book this class.

My spouse and I had such a wonderful time at our cooking class on May 9th, it was such a joy from beginning to end! Luca was a charismatic and gracious host, as was his lovely daughter Catherine.
That evening, our group consisted of other couples, a solo traveler, and mother/daughter.....it was such a casual, silly, and welcoming environment!
The class had a great balance- mortadella and bread with wine to start, making of the pasta dough, making of aperol spritz, and enjoying the meal!
A respectable practice of the tour is to donate the extra fresh pasta to the local food banks and everything is sorted for composting and recycling :)
If you're visiting Bologna and wish to enjoy a cooking class in the center of the city, this is a perfect choice!

This was a very enjoyable evening. I went with my wife and a couple of our friends. Our hosts were Stefania and Gabriele who were both excellent, so thank you to both of you again. We started by making tagliatelle from flour and eggs. When suitably prepared and cut it was great to turn the fork and watch it gently unfold! The tagliatelle was then cooked and mixed with ragu to make a lovely meal washed down with spritz which we prepared and wine. What made this experience even more fun was the lovely people from other parts of the world (USA and Canada) who joined as part of the group. A great evening, highly recommnded.

We had the best time. The best hostesses from start to finish. Laughter, good food if you made it good. lol they were best friends together showing us how to make pasta with fun. I would recommend it.
philgautreau, May 2026
We had a great time with Stephania and Gabriele cooking and learning about the foods and drink we enjoyed. Made and ate our own pasta! Generous amounts of food and drink and relaxed atmosphere. Met some wonderful people who loved the experience as much as we did, including 2 couples who were starting their honeymoons in Bologna! Highly recommend and special thanks to Stephanie for creating the enjoyable experience.

The experience was truly first class! Francesca and Bea were fabulous hostesses. They made everything so fun. From the minute you enter until you are done, they make you feel so welcomed. The food was delicious, the drinks were refreshing and the gelato (crème) was such a nice touch to finish the pasta meal. I highly recommend this tasting. FIVE STARS for sure!!!

This was the highlight of Bologna our chefs were amazing and I learned a few things to help me in my past making at home. Fantastic tour.

Making pasta the way Italian grandmothers have made it for generations. Small group of 8. Two instructors so plenty of coaching. Made spritz while dough rested. Then ate our work. Recipes sent by email. Recommend activity with Beatrice and Francesca.
