Avoid on Greek Labor Day

Greek Labor Day (May 1st). Most tourists sites closed, so thought hop on/off bus might be good. Unfortunately, protests closed streets, so route was greatly affected. Understandably, the driver was grumpy. But not understandably, he was VERY unhelpful for a paying customer: with how to use ear bud to listen to narrative. I had never ridden a hop on/off before, so just needed basic instruction. I sat in front seat and only asked at stop light when he seemed unoccupied. He pretty much ignored me. I travel a lot and hope my next on/off bus hopping in another city is better!

I love using a hop-on hop-off bus when time is limited, as it’s usually a great way to see the main sights. However, this experience was a bit disappointing. Some of the stops felt unnecessary, almost as if they were included just to increase the number of stops rather than add value. Unfortunately, we also had to wait over 20 minutes for a bus. When we asked, we were initially told it would be 20 minutes, but after waiting that long, we were then told delays were due to the small roads. While that may be true, it’s not exactly a new or unexpected condition. The weather also made things worse. It was raining, and the upstairs seating—even with the cover—was unusable as rain was still getting in. Downstairs was very crowded, and to make matters worse, the advertising on the windows made it difficult to see the sights clearly. Overall, while I like the concept, this particular experience didn’t live up to expectations.

Amazing Acropolis visit

😊 Just got back from the Acropolis in Athens and I'm still buzzing! Irene, our tour guide, was AMAZING! She's an archaeologist with a contagious energy and a wealth of knowledge about the history of the site. The 2-hour tour was way too short, but she made it so engaging and fun. we Actually need ableto change the date until the 13th when we met the bus they changed the ticket for us. Was unhappy that when we called via Tour, they would not do anything then on the 13th. We were not told there was a strike for three days so some of the bus stops did not run. We waited on a seven for almost an hour and then finally called and they said oh sorry the bus can’t get through because of the protest/strike that was very aggravating. We had to walk when we paid for a ticket. The next day some roads were closed again because of the protest/strike very dissatisfied.

Best way to see the city. Highly recommended. I haven’t been on the Piraeus or coast lines yet but will be doing those over the next few days. Yesterday spent the whole day seeing the sights on the Athens line and it was spectacular.

The bus we took was the Athens Line with my two grandchildren, it took us all around so we could get our bearings. Our experience was amazing!! Not only was the route perfect but I left my wallet on the bus by mistake and when I realized I called the customer service number and spoke to a lovely woman who said she would alert the possible drivers based on my route and track it down for me. She asked me to call back in 10 min and she would have an update. As promised she not only had an update but George X (driver) had found it and gave it to a manager who would have it waiting for me to pick up. I got the wallet back easily at the agreed upon stop and all contents of the wallet were there. Thank you George!!

It never came waiting in the rain with kids

Friday Nov. 28 waiting in the rain for the shuttle to come by it never came. I was waiting outside with my kids. Waiting from 8:40 am until 10am I had to buy another bus voucher to a different company because it never came. They wouldn’t give me my refund of 65€ euros . I would always ride this company wherever in the world I travel too. But not anymore .
