Tromso Fjords Tours and Tickets

Pretty much all fjords in Norway stand out for their majestic beauty and relative accessibility, but those near Tromso are much farther north, hundreds of miles north of the Arctic Circle. This makes them part of some of the most pristine wilderness in the country and within viewing distance of the northern lights.

In and around the Tromsø Fjords, you can spot arctic wildlife. From the water, you might spot seals, porpoises, orcas, and humpback whales. On land, you could see seabirds such as puffins and eagles and, less often, reindeer, bears, wolves, and moose along the fjord shores and surrounding wilderness.

The Tromsø Fjords experience remarkable changes with the seasons. Winter coats them in snow, inviting skiers, snowshoers, and dog sledders. Spring and summer see the ice thaw under the "Land of the Midnight Sun," revealing hiking trails and wildlife. In autumn, the fjords grow foliage and offer glimpses of the Northern Lights.

It depends on what you want to do. For hiking and other outdoor activities, July is the best month to visit the Tromso Fjords, as the sun is out 24 hours a day. If you're instead searching for the northern lights, visit in late September or October, when winter's chill hasn't yet arrived.
