What are people saying about Kiruna

The Northern Lights Experience I Had Hoped For and more
Hanna, our guide for the evening, was absolutely incredible. I had already done two Northern Lights tours in Swedish Lapland, but this was the experience I had been hoping for. Hanna didn’t simply take us somewhere to wait for the aurora. She chased clear skies relentlessly, changed direction whenever the conditions changed, and kept going. The result was an extraordinary night under the Northern Lights that I will remember for the rest of my life. The evening started with dinner at STEJK, which was an experience in itself. We had reindeer and moose in the tipi before heading out into the Arctic night. From that point on, Hanna was constantly watching the sky and the conditions. At one stage we drove almost all the way toward Finland looking for clear skies. If she saw stars somewhere, we went after them. At one point she spotted an opening in another direction and simply turned the van around. That was when I realized this wasn’t going to be a guide following a predetermined route or watching the clock. She genuinely wanted to find us the best sky possible. And it paid off. We saw the Northern Lights several times during the night, in different places and in completely different forms. There were green arcs, beautiful curtains and rays stretching across the sky. Later, close to Kiruna, we found an incredible display that remained above us for almost an hour. It was actually still going when we finally had to leave. Somewhere in the middle of all of this, we also watched an enormous fireball streak across the sky in front of us. Aurora overhead, stars everywhere and then that. It was one of those moments when you eventually stop worrying about photographs and just stand there looking at the sky. What impressed me most, though, was Hanna herself. She was knowledgeable, funny, enthusiastic and incredibly determined. Most importantly, it never felt as though she was simply completing an itinerary. She paid attention to what was happening around us and adapted constantly. When the weather changed, we moved. When she saw an opportunity, she took it. When there was something worth waiting for, we waited. We eventually returned to Kiruna at around 3:00 in the morning, exhausted and extremely happy. By then I had an absurd amount of photographs and footage, but the best part wasn’t what I captured with the cameras. It was the experience of actually being out there chasing the sky all night. Thank you, Hanna. You gave me exactly the Northern Lights experience I came to Swedish Lapland hoping to have, and then somehow made it even better. If I came back to Kiruna tomorrow, I would go out with you again without hesitation.

Core memories are made here
Do not miss this…unforgettable trip highlight and core memories. You will feel like you’re part of the Sami people for a day. It’s authentic and will leave you with memories you’ll relive over and over again. Frederick is funny, welcoming and entertaining. Your experience with the reindeer will be u like anything else offered in Lapland. Well worth the cost and the drive to/from. Make sure to dress warm although you’ll be well taken care of with more offered clothes and boots and food. Toilet is a little rugged but gets the job done.

Unforgettable fun for all the family!
A friendly, fun, exciting adventure. The transfers were prompt and comfortable. The outoor clothing provided was clean, comfortable and well fitting. The dogs were well cared for, friendly, cute and clearly enjoyed the sledding as much as we did. The sami coffee and cake was delicious and the Tipi with fire felt like an authentic sami tent. We saw a herd of reindeer on the Torne river and saw some spectacular scenery. We had a 12 year old and a 75 year old in our party and both thoroughly enjoyed the experience and felt safe on the sledges. Thank you Lapland Sleddog Adventures.

Highly recommended activity and company
Lights of Vikings is a smaller, family-owned company. The guides and other staff are awesome: super friendly, enthusiastic and good in communication. The activity itself (snowmobile) was so much fun. We loved every second of it. The guide took us on a beautiful trail with a little stop halfway to have a warm beverage and cookies. The snowmobiles were brand new and very comfortable to drive. An extra shout-out to Onur who promised us it would be fun and he was right: it was so much fun! Not only because of the activity but because he has a great personality and can make everyone enthusiastic about something. Great talent!
