Amazing experience
I cannot recommend doing this hike through GT experiences any more. The service is amazing and everything is so well organised. Erick, Antonio & Fernando were our guides and they were so experienced - but also great fun. When we arrived to basecamp the weather was covering Fuego so our guides decided to wait hours before doing the Fuego hike- we ended up doing it at 1:30am and the views were amazing. We were so glad our guides did it this way, as many other groups ascended Fuego despite the bad weather in the evening and saw nothing. Our guides were so fun and it was really 10/10. The food was also really good and the red wine was much appreciated!!

Where else will you eat a pizza on an active volcano?
If you’re in Antigua, this is the tour to book! My tour guide was Guy. He was very kind, he knew so much history about Guatemala that he shared, & he was just very comfortable to be around. He took me and one other solo traveler to the market in the morning a couple hours before the tour started and we got to eat a local tortilla breakfast on the street curb. The tour itself was an experience I’ll remember for a lifetime. I road a horse all the way up Pacaya volcano, saw some really cool animals on the way, and enjoyed breathtaking views of the villages below. Once we got to the top, Guy built a little tower out of volcanic rock and we had a competition to see who could throw a stone to knock it down while we waited for pizza. I highly recommend this tour. It was absolutely the highlight of my Guatemala trip!

The guides who led us on...
The guides who led us on the hike were amazing. They made the experience safe, fun and energetic. The tour company has optional things to rent when you start the hike that you can purchase before (backpacks, hiking sticks, etc). They give you a lunch that you will have to have room in your bag to bring up yourself.
My girlfriend said this was the most difficult physical thing she's ever done, but she made it through. I also found it challenging. If you think you may need it, be sure to bring altitude medication. I got sick at the top and started throwing up and had a lingering upset stomach for a few days. there are a few shops along the way where you can buy drinks and snacks at reasonable prices.

A Great Experience
Alejandro was absolutely fabulous! He was easy to message with leading up to my flight, found me right away at the airport, helped with my bags, and made me feel safe and cared for. I had a great experience and will be reaching out to him for my drive back!

Navigating on lake Atitlan.
My girlfriend and I had a great time navigating on lake Atitlan. We got to see the beautiful and colorful towns of San Juan, San Pedro, and Santiago. Tourist guides were very friendly and informative. We recommend anyone visiting Guatemala to take this tour.

10/10 experience cooking...
10/10 experience cooking on the rooftop with other people from around the world. The hosts of the tour were all very nice and made it so enjoyable. I love that they provided red wine and we had lots of tasty apps before the main course. Everything was delicious.

A Must-Do Adventure in Antigua
We had such an amazing time.
Everything was super fun and well organized from start to finish. Our guide, Erik, was incredible—he explained everything clearly, made sure we felt safe the whole time, and kept the experience exciting. You can really tell he loves what he does and takes pride in giving a great tour.
Highly recommend this experience if you’re in Antigua definitely one of the highlights of our

So much fun, you get to...
So much fun, you get to ride ATVs through the city. Learn about the process behind growing and manufacturing coffee & chocolate. After that you ride up a mountain and get to see all of Antigua. Absolutely breathtaking. I highly recommend anyone traveling to give this a try

The jade carving...
The jade carving experience in Antigua Guatemala was such a cool and unique experience!
I didn’t realize how much history and meaning jade has in Guatemala, and the hosts did an awesome job explaining everything in a way that was super interesting but still easy to follow. You can tell they’re really passionate about their craft.
Getting to actually carve and work on your own piece was the best part. It’s definitely harder than it looks, but they guide you through it and make sure you have fun with it.
Overall, it felt really authentic and hands-on—not something you get to do every day. If you’re in Antigua and want something different, I’d definitely recommend it!

More than I expected
Honestly was an amazing experience for the price. First things first, the entrance fee is Q100 and the horse to the top only is Q300. Ok next, if you are coming from a place of low altitude, I recommend you give yourself atleast a day to acclimatize your body because this was really hard for me coming from the Caribbean, I’m pretty sure I had altitude sickness and that was awful. I went at 6am. Again, if you’re coming from a warm place, I wore 2 to 3 layers of Clothes. If you’re going to be hiking, your body will get warm but others were wearing shorts and t shirts so just know yourself. It was about 12 degrees celcius and windy. Ok now to the service. Our guide was Ervin and he was great, gave us some facts to start off the trail and also spoke English and Spanish. Gave us enough stop points to catch our breath and to take pictures along the way. I would recommend hiking boots because of how loose the soil is but I wore sneakers so it can be done. GET THE STICKS if you’re accident prone. Took about 1hr and 15 mins to and from the city and the hike was about 3hrs give or take includes the breaks. Left at 6:15 and returned at 11:30. Very beautiful, magnificent even. There are tiendas on the descent, hot dogs, pizza, lava rock store and your guide will provide you with marshmallows to roast. Worth the price, it’s safe and a great experience.

Well worth your time and money!
This was a great experience for me and my 13 year old daughter. We arrived at the tour operator location in Antigua a bit early which gave us time to get acclimated (purchase sunglasses and sunscreen we forgot). We were easily able to get by with a mix of english and spanish easily. Estuarto, our guide, was a great guy. They made sure we were able to get by no problem navigating both on and off road. Our first stop took us through coffee fields to some old lava fields to the base of Pacaya. It is huge! Pictures do not do this place justice. Our second stop brought us to some new lava fields (2021) that were much darker. We walked a bot through the fields, had our lunch (great avocado and cheese sandwich), and were able to feel the heat from the magma about 40m below. Our third stop was a lagoon formed within the caldera of one of the volcanoes. Nice and relaxing. It was a great experience - well worth both the time and money.

An unforgettable experience!!
A once in a lifetime experience sleeping in view of an erupting volcano! The hike up Acatenango was strenuous at first and flattened out at the top, while the optional trip over to Fuego was extremely grueling, mostly because of the loose gravel and the path going straight up the mountain. Going down in the dark after sunset was particularly challenging and slow going. Make sure to wear proper hiking boots! The accommodations at the top were basic. But the whole experience was absolutely worth it! Diego Morales and the crew were really wonderful and friendly. I would highly recommend!

Antigua, Guatemala, tours run the gamut. To get your adrenaline pumping, opt for an overnight sunrise summit hike of the Acatenango Volcano to safely view the adjacent—and still highly active—Volcán de Fuego. Not an early riser? Buckle your helmet strap and explore the countryside and its mountain villages via ATV sunset tour. For something more laid-back, take a day tour of Lake Atitlán, join a cooking class and market tour, or learn about the locally-produced chocolate and coffee. Whether adventure-driven or culture-centric, each Antigua tour will give you something to talk about.
