A Seamless Day in Aix, Cassis & Marseille

My daughters & I had a wonderful time with Omar. He was a perfect gentlemen. After an espresso & croissant, we walked through the markets in Aix. This was nothing like we were used to. They went on for blocks with all kinds of vendors selling their merchandise & produce & more. During our walk, we saw the church & other sights. It was a very nice morning. Then on to Cassis where we saw the beautiful city from above on the cliffs. We made our way down to the city & were able to book a boat ride of the Calanques. (This is not included in the price of the tour & costs extra but we had requested to do this.) It was beautiful with the clear blue water & dramatic cliff formations. A little lunch and off to South Marseille. Omar took us on a scenic route & it was so pretty. We were able to go to Notre Dame de la garde & the palace of Napoleon before having to board our ship. Our day was very relaxing & we were able to see everything that we wanted to see and more! If you are looking for a nice relaxing day, this is your tour. However, this is more a driving tour than a “guided” tour. If you want to hear details about the history & various statues or buildings, you might want to book a different tour. Omar did explain about certain things & answered our questions but wasn’t like the guides on the buses who give lots of facts on their tours.

Fantastic Tour of Marseille.

Our guide Eva was fantastic! She provided great history and background of the many sights we saw on the tour. Our group of 6 were all experienced cyclists. Participants should be competent riding in traffic and on fairly steep climbs and descents. The bikes were great and had plenty of power on the climbs.

Our drive through Cassis and the Calanques with Denis was one of the highlights of our trip! From start to finish, everything was absolutely perfect. Denis was an exceptional guide and driver—friendly, knowledgeable, professional, and genuinely passionate about showing us the beauty of the area. Seeing the stunning coastline and Calanques from a convertible made the experience even more special. The scenery was breathtaking, and the open-air drive made us feel completely immersed in the beauty of Provence. Denis knew all the best spots and made the entire experience feel effortless and relaxed. He was also incredibly attentive to our group and made sure we had plenty of opportunities to stop, take photos, and enjoy the views. If you’re visiting the area, I cannot recommend Denis enough! The combination of his wonderful personality, excellent knowledge, and the unforgettable convertible drive made this a truly memorable experience. 5 stars isn’t enough—we would absolutely book with Denis again! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Fabulous Food Tour with Food Expert

Our guide, Jean Rambert, was excellent. He and his wife owned a restaurant, so Jean is more than qualified to share his favorite restaurants and food choices with us! We went to five locations with a short walk in between each stop. It was excellent!!! Coincidentally our group of 12 were all people from our cruise ship, even though we all booked separately. We were given clear instructions where the meeting point was, including pinned on a map and Jean’s photo. The restaurants were ready for our arrival, we were served very quickly with the “small bites” that were ordered in advance. Three restaurant stops for savory local foods and two stops for sweets. We enjoyed food, wine and finished with cookies and pastries! Jean is an excellent guide, very knowledgeable about culinary arts, and also the fascinating history of Marseille which was founded 600 B.C. - the oldest city in France! I highly recommend the “Marseille Food Tour - Full Meal of Local Tastes” and Jean Rambert at “Do Eat Better experience”

The Best Tour On Our Trip

Gilles was a fantastic tour guide for 6 family members. our tour was of Aix en Provence, Cassis, and Notre Dame du Garde in Marseille. we all agreed this was the best tour of our 10 day trip to the Italian, French, and Spanish Riviera! Gilles gave us plenty of time to explore Aix and gave us a detailed history of the area. On the road to Cassis, he took us to a spectacular scenic overlook of the village and the bay. He brought us to an amazing restaurant where we got a taste of the local cuisine. on the way back to our ship, Gilles brought us to Notre Dame du Garde where we had a spectacular view of the city of marseille. he also took us inside the cathedral, where we were able to enjoy its beauty. Overall, Gilles was an excellent tour guide who was patient and understanding of our needs. would most definitely book with him on another tour when we visit Avignon. He was very easy to communicate with also.

Great tour and getaway

Lovely relaxing day. The drives were short (45 min or less) and beautiful rolling views. Our guide added a stop to a high overlook of Cassis. It was amazing. The loved both towns and would recommend this tour to anyone looking to see two sides of this beautiful area. We took the boat ride in Cassis which was breathtaking.

You should DO this!

We decided the evening before that we wanted to book a private van and driver, and we 100% would do this again! Smaïn was the BEST! He asked what we wanted to see and do and he was great about giving us suggestions. He explained everything as we passed by, and gave us insight into life in Marseille. The drop offs and pick ups were perfect, and we were so glad we didn’t have to do so much walking. It was a wonderful way to see Marseille!
