What are people saying about Catania

Semi-private tour from our cruise port to Toramina and Castelmola.
We were picked up at our cruise port. Communication from our driver, Michael, through What's App was easy. He drove us past Mt. Etna to Toarina where there were beautiful views and high end shops. Then we went to a less touristy spot and had a bite to eat with a great view of the volcano. We were entertained by Michael's stories and appreciated his knowledge of the area. We returned to our cruise on time before departure.

Fantastic experience
Our guide was very knowledgeable and shared great anecdotes throughout the tour
The Mt Etna component was perfect for our family group of mixed ages and fitness levels.

The experience we ended...
The experience we ended up doing was good, we did it on a four wheel drive. Just be aware that the options that are given are 65euros a person extra. I thought the tour I had chosen would be a medium level but we were told medium to difficult and had to rent shoes and jackets. All I n all we ended having a nice time and Salvo our tour guide who picked us up was very knowledgeable and gave us very interesting facts about Etna and the city of Catania. Would recommend

It was amazing! We loved...
It was amazing! We loved our driver and guide, Salvatore and Mario. The experience itself was a ton of fun and our hosts were very accommodating and kind. Mario has encyclopedic knowledge of the flora and history of Etna and was excited to share with all of us. The meal in the pine forest alongside other tourists and locals was very charming and delicious. Highly recommend water shoes for the gorges, and be sure to turn to the right once you reach the bottom of the stairs for the main attraction!

Great experience with knowledgeable guide
We were a 3 generation family. Ages 15, 18, 40s and late 70s. Fantastic tour with Daniele, a very knowledgeable and friendly guide. The climb to the crater was fairly strenuous for thosrewho were not fit. Climbing down into the lava cave was a great experience. Loved the views of the lava flow and the Daniele really explained the geology clearly and simply. Would definately recommend this tour.

An Amazing Day in Sicily
Excellent tour guide in Catania. Sicily, Italy. I may mot spell it correctly . Cheers to Carrillo. He gave excellent instructions where to meet us by the cruise port. We saw everything and even did some shopping. Beautiful historic sites and architecture. Castelmola was picturesque. Our tour included visiting a family owned cannoli shop to watch them make the delicious treats . We each enjoyed a cannoli. Our day ended with tasting arancini and almond wine from the region. His English was excellent and his car was clean and cool. We invited him to come visit us in Texas and we would take him to a Texan livestock show and rodeo in Houston . It was an amazing day.

Local Guide with Love of Sicily
Unusual experience…. at first I was like “wait what” and thought maybe this was a mistake as we jumped in this locals Nissan (not Jeep, lol he said that’s just what they call all 4x4) and our first stop was for gas …. but actually this turned out to be an unforgettable day.
He loves Sicily and loves the history of Mt Etna and if you want to hear the passion from a local this is truly a one-of-a-kind experience.
Wine tasting at a local vineyard (best wine ever) even eating his homemade bread and jam with the wine, stopping at the lava quarry and lava flows and eating atop Mt Etna were all highlights!
We came in on a cruise ship and his pick up spot was just outside the port (we walked and totally easy/doable walk). Overall an experience we won’t forget.

Really Good, Informative, diverse & Entertaining Tour for all the Family
Alessio was our excellent guide on our tour. His passion for the area, history & nature points of interest really shone through. He happily answered questions (esp from my 8yr old) . The four ‘parts’ of the tour are really well designed & a fantastic experience was had by the whole family.

Great Experience, filled with surprises!
We had an unforgettable day exploring Mount Etna and visiting the Gambino Winery. Our guide, Martino, was exceptional—knowledgeable, engaging, and genuinely passionate about his land, its history, and the unique culture of the Etna region. His enthusiasm made every stop more meaningful, from the volcanic landscapes to the vineyards thriving in Etna’s fertile volcanic soil. The stop at the honey farm was a great experience, arriving just before the tour groups, making us feel like it was a private tour! The winery visit was a highlight, with excellent wines, delicious local food, and fascinating insights into the winemaking traditions of the area. Martino came through again, he took us to a private part of the vineyard that was quiet and very romantic. On our way back, we stopped at the Chestnut of One Hundred Horses, and then proceeded on our way, only to be surprised again by a gift of delicious Italian cookies.!
If you’re looking for an authentic Sicilian experience, I highly recommend this tour, and Martino. Thank you, Martino for sharing your passion and making our visit so memorable!

Fabulous trip!!! Grazie Martino!
Our driver Martino was simply the best. We were fortunate enough to only be two of us on our tour. Martino was so friendly. We exchanged stories and interesting facts, discussed movies that we all like, he even got his mother to give me her recipe for ricotta cheese! It was like we spent the day with a friend not just a tour guide!

Hooray for Sergio!!!
This was a wonderful trip—Etna is magnificent and the wine and food were fantastic. But what really made the experience was our new Sicilian friend, Sergio. I say friend, because that is how my wife and I felt about him after a splendid day. Sergio has extensive knowledge of just about every aspect of Sicily. He knows the history, the culture, the food, the drink, the geography, the geology, the horticulture, and so much more. His energy, his passion, and his enthusiasm for Sicily make the experience so much better than I can explain here.
We began our day ascending Mt. Etna by (luxury) van. Words do not describe—it is majestic and fascinating and beautiful. Sergio then took us to a honey shop, where we got tastings of honey, olives, olive oil, and wine. Next was on to a large vineyard, where we enjoyed a multi-course lunch and another tasting. Saving the best for last, Sergio then took us to a lovely small vineyard, for a much more intimate and personalized tasting. The wines were fantastic, and the experience was top notch. As an added extra, Sergio took us to a ceramic shop at our request, and even showed us his hometown. Our best day in Taormina!
My only regret was that we didn’t have Sergio plan the rest of our trip as well. We didn’t wonderful things, but none of it compared to our delightful day in Sergio’s care!!
