Find your way to Rome's famous Colosseum to meet your guide and small group (if private option not selected).

Get guaranteed access to the ancient arena and proceed directly inside. Explore the first two rings of the arena while listening to stories of Caesar, gladiators, games, and entertainment. Learn about the architecture and engineering—and even tour the Arena Floor, if you selected the upgrade when booking.

Next, visit the Roman Forum, where you can see the Arch of Titus, the Basilica of Maxentius, and the Temple of Antonino and Faustina, plus other storied sights.

Continue to Palatine Hill, climbing as you hear about the origins of ancient Rome, including Livia and the House of Augustus. See the valley between Palatine Hill and Aventine Hill, where Circus Maximus once stood.

After several hours, your tour ends back at the meeting point.

The colosseum currently guarantees special access to the arena floor which is off limits to the general public. The arena area is where the gladiator fights took place and also gives you the closest view of the underground area possible

This was an amazing tour and our guide Luciana was fantastic. Great historical information, stunning views and incredible perspective. We had just enough information and she kept the pace moving. The small group was great and we appreciated the headsets that made it very easy to hear in the crowds. I'd highly recommend this tour. 6 people was the perfect amount and kept the flow. I'd highly recommend the tour and our guide.

Hot but worth every penny!

We went in the dead of summer! It was hot. Our tour guide took all of this into consideration and gave us all of the history while in the shade. Regardless of the heat it was incredible! A very good tour! I do wish we had a little more time during the tour to move around a bit more and take time to venture and take pictures in some areas. But other than that it was wonderful!

Selenia provided an engaging tour for our family of 6. We had just gotten into Rome from the U.S., and with temperatures in the upper 90s, her ability to interact with the kids (ranging 11-13) was incredible. Our guide was Chiara - she is very knowledgeable about architecture and she made the tour fun. Despite it being 100 degrees out we still managed to cover a lot of ground and she took time to answer all of our questions. The communication with our guide and the company before the tour started was very helpful as we did this tour on the morning we arrived in Rome. We did not have to wait in many lines and the tour was structured in a way that allowed us to learn the history and see what we wanted to see. Chiara was great.

Wear cool clothing, hydrate before and during your visit. There is limited shade on this tour. We had a beautiful tour guide - Elisabeth. Elisabeth was so knowledgable as she had an archeology back ground.

This was a great experience! There were 4 people in our group with our guide - Fabio the fabulous!!! Fabio is so knowledgeable. He talked about all the things on the tour but also answered random questions that we asked. I was shocked he knew so much. He is a very sweet person and we thoroughly enjoyed getting to know him a bit as well. All of the areas of the tour were amazing. Being on the arena floor was awe inspiring. I highly recommend this tour and most definitely Fabio!!!

There is a moderate amount of walking and stairs, elevator available. Weather was very hot for us (100°F) with bright sun. Electric personal fans and a spray bottle of water was very helpful. Also hats and sunglasses. I wore flip flop sandals because of heat and it wasn’t bad. Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable about Roman history and included fun facts to entertain our 8 year old son. She was also considerate of how much we could handle and allowed for breaks and time to sit and kept us primarily in shaded spots.

Guillem had a wealth of information in the best way. The small group tour was a wonderful way to move through the colosseum at our preferred pace and ask all the questions we wanted. For anyone who loves Roman history or early Christian history it’s a treat! Gil was amazing! I felt like we had made a friend by the end of the tour and was sad for it to end!

Viator neglected to notify Liv Tours of the change in our tour time. As a result Liv Tours could not accommodate us. Fortunately, Viator refunded our tour fee in full. Yet we wasted vacation time and taxi money (about $60) traveling to/from our hotel and did not tour the Coliseum.

Excellent tour with so much information and knowledge about the history of the area. We learned so much and super friendly. Only bad part was our guide was a little too in your face to the point of being uncomfortable at times. I think he was just passionate about what he was talking about.
