Join us on a tour to look for the largest land mammals in North America - the Wood Bison! NWT is home to North America's largest free roaming herd of wood bison - and from Yellowknife we can take a day tour to look for them. How big are wood bison? The bison bulls can stand up to 6ft tall at their shoulders, 13ft long, and can weigh more than a tonne. Females are smaller and can weigh up to 1,200 pounds. Will we see any baby bison? It is common to see newborn and growing calves among the herds. Could we see other animals too? Hopefully. We have previously spotted black bear, eagles, fox, porcupines. Where do we travel? We travel on highway 3 south, near the world's 10th largest lake - Great Slave Lake, and share facts and stories about the area. Is food provided? A light picnic lunch is provided with a snack and beverage. Animal sightings can not be guaranteed. We have a 4 person minimum for this tour to take place, however we will try our best to arrange groups.

Cameron Waterfalls is an exciting way to see the wilderness. The hike is slightly challenging but so worth the hike. The Volcanic rock, black in color makes the waterfalls stand out.

Hunting for the Aurora, we will drive you to different lakes in our quest. The lakes provide a perfect reflective surface for viewing the aurora in autumn. In the Winter season, you may go even further down to the middle of the lakes! We will provide snacks & warm beverages to enhance your experience with us. If we do not have at least 4 guests to materialize our Aurora by Bus Tour, we will provide you with an option to join other scheduled Aurora Tours available for that night. We will take our Travellers in each hotel and take you to different lake locations to find a place to enjoy the great light. We will take photos for Travellers. During the journey, we will also provide our guests with hot drinks and biscuits, as well as expertise in North Polar Light and Yellow Knife. If you don’t have enough for a four-person tour on the lake, we invite you to consider taking part in another tour that we already have. We provide activity pick-up and drop-off services for our guests at hotels and downtown AirB&Bs. Activity meeting time will be sent to you before the tour. A beautifully prepared picnic spread is included at Cameron Ramparts, followed later by an early dinner at a locally owned Yellowknife restaurant. With a maximum of five guests, the experience feels personal and welcoming, making it especially well suited to solo women travelers, friends, and conference visitors.
