After pickup in Stavanger, and collecting our delicious lunches, we arrive at Preikestolen Basecamp. After a safety canoe instruction, we paddle across the lake, make our way onto shore, and hike along an old and forgotten trail. Tourists don’t know this trail even exists, and other guide companies don’t use it. This means we have the trail to ourselves! The pace allows for time to adjust clothes and equipment for comfort, time to drink water, rest and enjoy lunch, and to take pictures along the way. The hike takes roughly 3 hours to reach Preikestolen - our main goal for the day. After we have enjoyed the scenery and relaxed for a while, we head back down. It normally takes about 2.5 hours to get back down to the parking area.
