Top Rhodes Private Sightseeing Tours

The first part of the tour is a hour long scenic drive around the town of Rhodes. Our driver, Nicholas, has lived in Rhodes his whole life and provided a lot of historical and local information and experiences. We really enjoyed his commentary during the drive around Rhodes and on the hour long drive to Lindos. In Lindos, we were on our own to explore the town and the acropolis. We received great advice from Nicholas and purchased our tickets to the acropolis online. This saved us at least a half hour in waiting to buy tickets. Overall, Nicholas was a knowledgeable and kind person. He even provided a small gift for the ladies in our group. Overall, a great tour and a great guide.

The pickup from the hotel and communication with the organizer went more than smoothly. Accommodating, the day before, we already exchanged information regarding the pickup location and time. Arrived at the port in Rhodes, you have to quickly pick up your ticket at the shop so that you can get on the boat. That is due to the various booking options. Around 10:00 AM we then set sail from the port. The boat itself is a tourist boat, which has naturally suffered a bit from the crowds of people, but it is perfectly adequate for its purpose. The stopover with the option to go swimming in the bay was a totally underrated highlight. Upon arrival, many people change without embarrassment or have already come in swimwear; alternatively, you could then jump into the sea from the 1m board or use the safe ladder. Pool noodles for the insecure are also on board. After an estimated 30 minutes, so that everyone could splash around enough, we went back on board. You could then rinse off with drinking water(?) showers so that you do not stay in the salt. We did not find changing rooms, but in short, everyone changed easily under a towel, as you know it from the public pool. After another 20 minutes, you finally reached Symi. Beautiful houses in colorful colors built at different heights in the mountains. The city is full of small shops that invite you to stroll. The food tastes great in many places. The shop owners are very open and communicative. Around 4:20 PM we started the return trip and arrived at the port in Rhodes at 7:30 PM without a stop, where the driver found us directly and transported us safely back to the hotel. Depending on the pickup location, you should plan the entire day for the excursion. The bay and Symi are definitely worth a look, but also a distance from Rhodes that should not be underestimated. Very important, for everyone who does not have international roaming: Turn on airplane mode during the entire boat trip - you are traveling close to the Turkish border. Once you are connected to the Turkish network, the costs can become astronomical.

Great day out and one I’d highly recommend. Definitely the way to go is the faster boat, I saw a few that would take up to 2 hours there and 2 hours back. We booked the hotel pick up. I didn’t hear anything initially at booking point as you don’t indicate at booking where you are staying. About an hour after booking, a WhatsApp message asked hotel and it was organised. Where we were staying (Kolymbia), we were far out so the transfer was over an hour. The guys on the boat were great. Everything very easy and smooth. The island itself is so picturesque and definitely worth a visit. The bay was slightly disappointing as the sunlight was hidden behind the mountains - but we were visiting in October. We were surprised at the number of people who fancied the jump in - they loved it. Would I book again? - yes, would I recommend? - yes, highly!
