The experience of...
The experience of visiting Cotopaxi and the Rose production tour was good. The only problem was our reservation stated that the pickup would be at 7:30. However, our guide showed up at 8:00. He stated that he was told to be at the hotel at that time. We have had previous messages via What’s App regarding pick up time or any updates which did not occur today.

It was an amazing experience. The scenery had me speechless. The climb was a little hard, but worth the views.

Difficult hike
Very high altitude, over 15,000 ft. Hard to breathe for seniors. Air is very thin in this region. Good pictures.

Good but some information inaccurate
Lovely tour, well behaved horses with amazing views and Diana out guide was great.
Only disappointjng thing we were told and confirmed on the booking it was a private tour but the horse riding was a mixed ability group and also told we would be able to canter/gallop but we didn't as there were people in our group who had never ridden before

Cotopaxi is Possible
Hiking up hill is not my strength, however allowing me to go at my own pace made it possible to reach base camp. Super proud of myself. Tour guide was very patient with me. Thank you for an incredible experience!

Wonderful day with horses and Cotopaxi views
Miriam was a great guide. She navigated the rough terrain up to Cotopaxi confidently. She was very knowledgeable and friendly and had lots of great information. I loved getting the tour from a local guide.

I had a wonderful time with the Ivan and Adrian. They are so fun and I got to meet so many wonderful people on the group. Highly recommend and definitely ask for those 2, Adrian and Iva, it was a great time

This was a great day with Adrian and Ivan. Everything was well organised and Adrian was really supportive on the hike, making sure everyone made it at their own pace.

My parents and sister...
My parents and sister went on this hike and reported that they had a great time and met some interesting people. They were not able to make the hike to the base camp due to challenges with the altitude (it is no joke!); but, found Cotopaxi and the surrounding highlands beautiful and enjoyed the tour.

Wonderful adventure up the Cotopaxi Volcano!
The patience of our tour guide Estui, and mentally preparing us for what was to come. On the hike of the volcano it was pretty intense but an incredible adventure. My wife and I are in our 60s and had an incredibly great time. Thank you to our tour guide and our driver, Alex who took good care of us.

Amazing tour! We got...
Amazing tour! We got lucky and had a window where the clouds parted and we were able to see the volcano which made the entire trip worth it. The hike was tough with the elevation but was so worth it. Our guide Irene was absolutely incredible. 10/10

A pretty way to spend the day outside exploring the Cotopaxi area.
An expensive excursion but so unique that it is worth it! We truly loved the horseback ride and hospitality of the hacienda staff. They provided us with warm drinks, warm clothes, and a great ride to view Cotapaxi. Our drive to the lagoon and hike was refreshing with beautiful views. It’s always nice to get outdoors and enjoy nature. Our tour guide, Ivan was very pleasant, calm, informative, and a pleasure to be around. He was knowledgeable and took great care of us for the day.

When to visit

The park is located at high altitude; if you’ve just arrived in Quito, it’s wise to spend a couple of days acclimatizing before hiking or biking.
Although there are plenty of walking trails in the national park, climbing the Cotopaxi Volcano is only suitable for experienced hikers.
There are several car parks in the national park, but access to many of the trails is by 4WD only.
The park has limited visitor facilities, so be sure to bring everything you need, including comfortable shoes, sun or rain protection, and plenty of water.
