Impressions of Inca
Mystic Machu Picchu and Lake Titicaca will leave a long lasting impression on you. Well presented by excellent guides. Non professional handling by bus company when bus broke down near Puno.

A different world

Too much of a good thing
This trip involves visiting the Uros floating island and Amantani island on the first day, staying at a local's house overnight and then visiting Taquile island on day 2. The trip itself was impeccably organised and the guides were fantastic. The local hosts, accommodation and food were also great.
However, I feel that the second day paled in comparison to the first as it involved a long uphill hike followed by just a traditional song and dance performance, lunch and then climbing down 500+ steps to reach the boat. Unless you are a hiking aficionado, there is nothing much to be gained from the second day, which is mostly spent on long boat rides. The ride to Taquile island in the morning was very choppy due to winds and waves, which are apparently the norm. For the casual tourist, a one day tour comprising visits to Uros and Amantani islands is more than enough.

First time in Peru
You only need to pack an overnight bag for the night stay in Machu Picchu. Leave the rest of luggage in hotel. Unfortunately we were not advised of this. So we lugged all our luggage to MP which was cumbersome and not necessary. We were asked to pay S/18 for each bag. And this was a stressful. Otherwise, all the guides were fantastic.

Lake Titicaca homestay
The islands visited were amazing. It was very interesting to see the different cultures on the islands. The homestay cooking was delicious. There is no bathroom in room but there is electricity. No wifi although a great set up to charge phone.
Bruno was an excellent leader he had alot of knowledge and spoke several languages.
The boat is very slow.

Long drive from Cusco
Our trip to Lake Titicaca from Cusco was great. Long car ride 6 hours one way. but with the visit to see the Uros island and how the people live. Richard our guide and driver was great. We had a good lunch in a restaurant in Puño before heading back to cucso. Overall the day was long but worth it. Would have like to see more of the beautiful lake, only saw the part where the Uros lived. Also would have been nice to cross lake to the Bolivia side. Kind of felt like we had to buy something from the Uros people when they gave their presentation.

Absolutely fantastic experience
What an incredible experience!! My husband and I had limited time and wanted to squeeze this into our packed schedule, and we’re so glad we did. Our guide Richard was excellent and picked us up from our hotel in Cusco at 5am. Yes, it was a very long drive all the way to Lake Titicaca, but completely worth it. We had exclusive time with the locals on Uros Island, a private boat tour on Lake Titicaca, and even got to dress up in their traditional dresses! And of course, Richard took wonderful photos of us the entire trip, and also did a fantastic job on the long drives back and forth from Cusco. It took the whole day, but we are so happy with this unique experience and cannot recommend it enough!

Unique & special experience
Our guide Ronal was so kind and informative. There was a support boat that followed us to carry our things or in case we needed help. We felt safe throughout the whole tour. We were a little nervous that the physical activity in the high altitude was going to be tough but it was totally fine for us! The kayaking was not strenuous (we came from Cusco). The time on the island learning about the Uros was great too! Very informative and interesting. This was definitely a less typical way to explore Titikaka as we were the only kayakers in the water. We’re so glad we did this tour and would highly recommend it!

Absolutely a MUST!!
We loved the experience of sleeping in the Amantani island.
The family we stayed with, was lovely.
On top of that, the views are great from the island.

When to visit

Lake Titicaca is a must for nature enthusiasts and those wanting to learn more about native cultures.
The lake is split between Peru and Bolivia and is accessible from both sides. You don’t need to buy Lake Titicaca tickets to enter it.
Be prepared for altitude sickness if you are not acclimated before arrival.
Dress in layers with sun protection for fierce sun, chilly afternoons, and cold nights.
