Prague history - ask for Jack!!
Jack is an AMAZING guide. I was injured a couple of months ago, so he slowed the pace, avoided stairs and we took the tram wherever possible. His knowledge of Prague is vast so we learned so much about this beautiful city. At the astronomical clock, he explained what all the rings mean and the meaning of all the statues. We were struck by the horrors that that Jewish endured, well before the Nazi invasion. All in all, I would highly recommend this tour a d suggest you ask for Jack!

Highly recommended
We loved this tour… such a great introduction to lovely Prague. The company broke up the large group of guests into several smaller ones, which we really appreciated (no need for those ear pieces). Our guide, Andrea, was a total delight with a wealth of historical knowledge and lots of practical tips to share. She told us she studied to be a teacher and it shows. Thank you, Andy, for a wonderful morning!

Highly Recommend this Private Tour!!
This is our first trip to Prague. The private tour that was given to us by our guide, Anna, could not have been better. She was born and raised here. Very much in love with her country and so very knowledgeable about its history and culture. Well worth the time and extra money spent for a private vs. group tour so we could be one-on-one to hear her clearly, ask questions and stop for photos whenever we wanted. A++

Honza (Jack) was a fantastic guide. He met us where we were staying and helped us get on the tram. Very friendly. Incredibly knowledgeable and eager to share information. We walked about 2.5 miles and he was attentive to any need for a break (bathroom or hot beverage). Very responsive to all our questions and got us to the astronomical clock right at the hour. Tailored the tour to our interests as we walked around.

The best tour of Prague
We had an absolutely amazing afternoon with our guide, Jack (Honza)! He was informative, funny, and relatable. He made us feel comfortable, and showed us parts of the city that most tours don’t cover. It felt like going on a walk with an old friend rather than on a tour. He was great with our 10 year old and made everything easy for him to understand. It was the best introduction to Prague that we could have hoped for. Thanks Jack!!

People Also Ask
What is the New Town (Nové Mesto) known for?
Prague, the capital of Czechia (formerly the Czech Republic), comprises four historic towns. The oldest, Staré Mesto (in Czech, “Old Town”), dates back to the 10th century. The New Town, or Nové Mesto, is simply the newest of the four towns—founded in the 14th century and redeveloped in the 19th century.
What is there to do in the New Town (Nové Mesto)?
The lively commercial district is home to historic buildings and monuments, boutiques, museums, and bustling Wenceslas Square—the heart of the neighborhood and home to the sprawling National Museum. Admire Art Deco artworks at the Mucha Museum, revisit Prague’s history at the Museum of Communism, and catch a ballet performance at the State Opera.
Is walking around the New Town (Nové Mesto) at night safe?
Yes. The New Town is the largest district in Prague, and it’s generally well-lit and safe to explore after dark—a good thing, too, because the neighborhood is reputed for its nightlife, including a top-notch bar scene. That said, you’d be advised to heed standard precautions and avoid walking alone.
Which is better, the New Town (Nové Mesto) or the Old Town (Staré Mesto)?
They’re apples and oranges—the Old Town is more famous and quaint; quieter at night, it tends to draw a calmer, history-minded crowd. The New Town is better for anyone who wants to top off their museum visit with a rowdy nightcap. They’re only a 25-minute walk apart, so aim to see both.
What shouldn’t I miss in the New Town (Nové Mesto)?
One of the neighborhood’s most unique landmarks is the Dancing House, a curvy building designed by legendary architect Frank Gehry that looks like its mid-twirl. Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire inspired Gehry; a seventh-floor restaurant—known for its city views—is named “Ginger & Fred” in tribute.
Are tours available of the New Town (Nové Mesto)?
Yes. You’ll find a wide range of guided walking tours that visit select sights within the New Town, including private and small-group options and food- or drink-focused crawls. Wenceslas Square and the New Town Hall (which has a permanent exhibit on Nové Mesto) are also hop-on, hop-off bus stops.
