Although it’s not the highest point in Europe, Jungfraujoch station is the highest-altitude railway station at 11,332 feet (3,454 meters), earning it the nickname the “Top of Europe.”

The only way to reach Jungfraujoch is by riding the Jungfrau cogwheel railway to the “Top of Europe. To reach the railway, either take the train from Grindelwald or Lauterbrunnen to Kleine Scheidegg or ride the Eiger Express cable car from Grindelwald to Eigergletscher—the Jungfrau Railway stops at both stations.

Q: Can I hike or drive to Jungfraujoch instead of taking the train?

No, it’s not possible to hike or drive up to the Jungfaujoch. There are no roads to the Jungfraujoch, and vehicles are not permitted beyond Grindelwald and Lauterbrunnen—the only way to reach the mountain pass is by train. Hiking is only possible as far as Kleine Scheidegg or Eigergletscher.

Q: Are children’s tickets or family reductions available for the Jungfrau Railway?

Yes. While there are no family passes, children under 6 can travel for free on the Jungfrau Railway, and the Jungfrau Travel Pass costs a flat rate of 30 Swiss francs for children (6 to 15 years old), regardless of the duration (passes are available from three to eight days).

Gabriel gave great instructions on how to access the gondola and train as well as what to expect up on top. The time spent in Interlaken after Jungfrau was nice. We could watch the paragliders land right in the park. We could have used more restroom breaks.

This tour group is customer focused. There were unplanned delays due to factors out of the control of the driver or guide. They managed to make this a memorable day for all. Pass works great. Highly recommend to print your ticket at home before travel

The pass is about the same price as Jungfrau website. However, purchasing through Viator let me earn points on this reservation. It’s a win win! The QR code that I was given worked. I highly suggest that you print the QR code and have them with you. We bought 3 days pass. On day 1 of my trip, I was able to see the QR code ticket on Viator. On day 2 and 3 , the trip was changed to past trip and I was unable to see QR code. I was glad I printed them out.

Jungfrau - not great weather but a great experience

Spectacular trip. The weather was rainy and cold so we couldn't see anything at the top of the mountain, but it was still an amazing experience. Yannis was a terrific guide, especially as he had to get some of us to Jungfrau and some of us to Lauterbrunnen. Expensive but worth it!
