What are people saying about Johannesburg

Great tour!
The tour was very informative and, at times, also confronting but we enjoyed the experience. Of I could have had another 2-3 hours at the Apartheid Museum I would gladly have taken the time. I can highly recommend this tour and the drivers and guides were very engaging and informative.

Great day trip
This was a great day trip from Joburg, and our guide, Lebo, made the experience even better. His extensive knowledge, both historical and contemporary, established a clear context for the places we visited and the things we saw. When visiting the caves, be sure to wear sturdy shoes and be aware that crawling, stooping, and many stairs are involved. The museum was beautifully laid out, and we really enjoyed the whole experience!

Must experience while in Joburg!
Great informative day in Johannesburg! KG was an amazing tour guide with a great deal of interesting and detailed information. I would recommend the private tour as you can tour at your own pace. KG was on time, flexible, personable and just overall allowed us to have a great day. The history of Joburg is interesting, sad and quite heavy but it must be something you experience first hand while visiting South Africa.

Experiencing Johannesburg and Soweto
There was so much to learn on the private guided tour of Johannesburg and Soweto.
I’ve only known Africa from TV and movies which shows either safari or areas of poverty. This taught me that there is so much more to S Africa. While the animals on safari are amazing, learning the countries history made it all the better.
Our driver Mo was a wealth of knowledge. He grew up in Soweto and knows the area and its history. On could say he is very proud of his country and rightfully so. There is so much history here. Things I heard about in high school and college came to life.
The guides for the places we stopped were just as knowledgeable about their area whether a museum or church.
Some of the things we learned about were heart breaking. Others lifted us up. That’s what happens when you learn about other people’s history and culture.
Mo took us to a restaurant in his home town of Soweto. We had the most amazing food. Probably because it was authentic African cooking, what we were hoping for the two weeks that we were here. After all, what’s the point of traveling if you’re going to eat food similar to what you eat at home. It was the best meal we had in our two week visit.
This was a great way to end our holiday. It made me happy I messed up when I ordered the plane tickets and ended up staying an extra day beyond our safari holiday.
This was our fourth country with a Viator trip and it won’t be our last. I highly recommend Viator when traveling and if you’re going to Johannesburg I highly recommend a day tour with Mo.

Best, Most Important tour in Johannesburg
Fantastic tour. Tshepo was the best guide with a lot of good information and good stops for photos. The stops for tours at Mandela House, Appartheid Museum and Constitution Hill were wonderful. It was an incredibly moving day. I highly recommend for the history and political impact. So sad that what happened 50 years ago in Soweto happened 13 years ago in Kiev, Ukraine (Maidan uprising), and keeps happening around the world. Why do we never learn? Thank god the history is preserved in places like these and that there are tours like today’s.

SOWETO extension is a must!
Rideshare may drop you off a block away based on the GPS. It’s one block up, easy to find in a neat area with shops.
SOWETO extension is incredible with Happy as the tour guide. Local guides and a close up view of the pain from which the city was forged.

My first time at a safari...
My first time at a safari and it was a thrilling experience spotting all the different animals in their natural habitat. We saw 3 out of the big 5 - elephant, lion and rhino - and a bunch of others. I'm writing this review after also visiting Chobe National Park and I found that the animals in Pilanesburg tended to be further away in the distance and required some sharp eyes to spot. Appreciated my sharp-eyed guides and fellow travellers who made this a fun experience.

It was a very good tour. ...
It was a very good tour. Thabang was knowledgeable and his detailed knowledge and feel for Soweto shown through in this tour. The only negative was the surprise that I needed to pay extra for airport pickup when I specified this from the beginning of the booking.

What a wonderful way to...
What a wonderful way to conclude our time here in Johannesburg. Tobisu — I am sure I am spelling that incorrectly — whose name beautifully means “happiness” in his native language, was truly a ten out of ten.
He has absolutely found his calling in life and should continue giving tours for many years to come. He possesses a rare gift — the ability to captivate any audience. He could speak to the most distinguished individuals and leave them in complete awe. His presence carries a warmth and energy that you feel immediately upon meeting him.
The history and knowledge he shared about Africa, apartheid, Johannesburg, Soweto, and other significant historical moments unfolded before us like a motion picture. He did not simply present facts; he told a story that allowed us to see, feel, and understand the past in a deeply meaningful way.
No material possession — no clothes, money, or food — could compare to the wealth of knowledge and perspective we gained on this tour. It was priceless.
We hope to stay in touch with him for a lifetime and feel truly honored to have met him.
If you are booking this tour, be sure to ask for him. He is simply the best.

Must Do To Understand SA
This is a realistic view of Soweto and the history of the end of apartheid. I learned a ton and I also cried. I recommend this to anyone who actually wants to understand that part of South Africa. Also I would like to reiterate that we always felt safe and our guide Cpho was excellent and wonderful to talk with.

Good day trip.
Both sites tell the same story but in a different format. We found the cave experience to be more worthwhile, and our guide had a very good sense of humour, the guide at the museum was more about delivery the facts and the tour had a very strange boat ride reminiscent of a Disney theme park, which to us, served no purpose.
Our driver was excellent and gave us some insight into life and customs in South Africa.

Highly recommended !!!
I cannot recommend this experience highly enough! If your schedule does not allow for a visit to the major game parks or a full-day safari, I wholeheartedly suggest this encounter. Let me start by highlighting the punctuality of our guide, Cpho, who greeted us warmly at our accommodations. During our journey to the park, we engaged in a delightful conversation covering a multitude of topics. Cpho took care of our entry requirements and provided us with a brief overview of the park's facilities. After that, we were given a moment to enjoy a drink before it was time to board the safari truck. When the moment arrived, Cpho ensured that our tickets were in order and liaised with the park guides to facilitate a seamless experience. I cannot recommend this vendor and this activity highly enough!
