What are people saying about Johannesburg

Exceptional
I took the private tour for a more relaxed day, I have to say my guide Collins was absolutely amazing , I learnt so much about South Africa history , Collins passion and knowledge is undisputed, he was professional without being too rigid, made me feel relaxed and answered all my questions that I asked, we had a very delicious lunch of South African food, the tour was about 6 hours long and worth every minute, I will be returning back to this amazing country and will definitely be using viator for my tours, pay that little bit extra and do the private tour, ask for Collins as well, he was great 😊

Informative
Our tour guide Lebo was extremely knowledgeable and answered all of our questions along the way. Lebo offered current information about the dynamics of Johannesburg and the complex history of the city. For the Apartheid Museum, two hours are allotted, and since we finished with 30 minutes to spare and Lebo was patiently waiting for us, which worked out nicely. Lebo asked if there were any specific places we wanted pictures, or where we wanted to be dropped off after the tour, which we said Mandela Square. This tour is full of history and half a day was just right.

Awesomeness
Johannesburg and Soweto are already unforgettable on their own — but experiencing them through the tour guide named Thabiso elevates everything. ⭐ A Truly Exceptional African Tour Guide: Thabiso If you want more than a tour — if you want an experience — ask for Thabiso. From the moment he reached out on WhatsApp, early and professional, he set the tone for a day that was thoughtful, safe, and deeply meaningful. He doesn’t just show you Johannesburg and Soweto; he reveals the parts most visitors never see. Thabiso guides with heart. He brings you into the real Jozi — vibrant, creative, and full of life — then into Soweto, where history still breathes through every street. He explains apartheid with clarity and compassion, including the powerful truth that the uprising was sparked by children just 11 to 14 years old. His storytelling makes you feel the courage, the pain, and the triumph of a community that fought for freedom. He also helps you understand the complex identities shaped by apartheid — the differences between coloured and black communities — in a way that is respectful, honest, and eye‑opening. Because of Thabiso, Johannesburg and Soweto became the most unique and historically powerful places we’ve visited in a while. He doesn’t rush, he doesn’t rehearse — he connects. And that connection stays with you long after the tour ends. As Mandela said, “It always seems impossible until it is done.” Thabiso shows you the place where impossible became possible.

Very Interesting!!
This tour was bittersweet for me. I booked the tour for me and my adult son however, my son ended up very sick and couldn’t attend the tour. Aside from that, the tour was great! My guide Lebo could not have been any more AMAZING! He was kind, with a quiet demeanor but he wasn’t quiet at all. He was so well informed and shared so much information about the places we went and the things that I saw. I really enjoyed talking with him. Since my son was sick and missed out on the activities of the Joberg part of our trip, we may have to visit Joberg again in the future. If so, I would not hesitate to book this tour again! Thanks Lebo for such an interesting and informative tour!!! Until next time…
