Itinerary

Get picked up at your hotel in Zagreb and hop in the air-conditioned minibus, as it points itself south for the stunner known as Plitvice (pronounced Plee-veet-say) Lakes National Park. During the drive, learn about the biodiversity and history of the area from the knowledgeable local guide. Plitvice, you might learn, happens to be the oldest and largest national park in Croatia.

After you get there, begin by exploring the forests crammed with pine, beech and spruce trees. Stroll along the trails, flanked by colorful flowers. Walk over attractive wooden bridges and then catch site of one of the 16 lakes inside the park: the turquoise waters look like they’re straight out of a made-up fantasy land. Gawk at the waterfalls and the streams cutting through the forest. The route goes down 300 stairs, so be prepared to walk but you’ll quickly see it’s well worth it.

About halfway through the time in the park, stop for lunch at a café (at your own expense). After, hop in a boat to cruise around the lower lakes for an up-close look at these spectacular waters. Later, disembark the boat and get on a train for a spin around the park. Enjoy the incredible views from the train carriage and the amazing panoramas.

After the train ride, board the minivan for the ride back to Zagreb where you’ll be dropped off at your hotel.

It was beautiful. Worth taking a trip. The guide needed to use a microphone. We sat in the back of the van couldn’t hear anything. The driver was excellent, made a few stops on the way back to Zagreb.

We had a great trip. The driver was excellent and the guide was outstanding. Even with some rain the guide was constantly planning and provided the best viewing schedule with weather limitations. The guide was probably one of the best we have enjoyed as she adjusted to our group and made the trip the most enjoyable possible. The scenery was unbelievable and one can only apprecitated in seeing for yourself. Do not omit this trip from a visit to Croatia. Every detail happened as planned with Viator.

This was a fantastic day trip, We had an excellent guide Tammi, she was friendly, knowledgeable and informative. It was a fair distance to walk in the heat, but manageable. There were amazing views of lakes and waterfalls around every corner. I would highly recommend this tour, especially if you get Tammi as a guide.
