We are located just behind the cathedral of Valladolid, in front of the theater, in an easily identifiable red house in the heart of the city. Just an hour and a half from Cancun, you can take the Mayan Train from Cancun or when you visit Chichen Itza or Ek Balam, it will be the perfect stopover

    Disappointed in experience

    Halley_A, Nov 2025
Very disappointed in this experience unfortunately. All of the reviews were great! But maybe we didn’t have a great “guide”. Basically we were served a plate of five tastings each and given a booklet with information about each of the mezcals available. There wasn’t any personal explanation or serving of each drink. Definitely not a guided experience. It would have been really nice to have each of the tastings labeled so at least I knew which page to read about as I sipped. (We were of course told the names of each five when served but forgot as we drank and chatted). The process was not interactive, there was no teaching or fun conversation between us and our server, and basically we just drank by ourselves in the corner of a bar without any “journey through history” to be found. The gallery had handicrafts that you can find in essentially any shop. It was nice to wander around with cocktail in hand. Pretty small though.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We truly appreciate your honesty, as it helps us continue improving the way we welcome and guide our guests. At Xoul Art & Mezcal, our sommeliers are always present to accompany and inform our visitors, while also giving them the space to relax and enjoy their drinks at their own pace. We understand, however, that every guest looks for a different level of interaction, and we’re truly sorry that your tasting did not feel as guided and engaging as you were expecting. Your feedback is very valuable to us and will be shared with our team to make sure every visit feels as personal and immersive as possible. Regarding our gallery, although you may find crafts in many shops around town, the pieces displayed at Xoul are selected as author pieces, and many of them are unique creations — especially items such as our alebrijes, jewelry, and ceramics, which are handmade by individual Mexican artisans and often one of a kind. We would sincerely love the opportunity to welcome you back and offer you a more personalized tasting experience, one that better reflects the spirit, history, and passion behind mezcal and Mexican craftsmanship. Whenever your travels bring you back to Valladolid, our doors will be open to you.
