Wonderful tour by a 45 passenger bus. The pick up was right next to the ship had no difficulty. We had a wonderful tour guide. Her name was Sam. We visited the waterfall, the Hydro electric dam and the lake, saw glaciers, and also visited the largest national park in Norway. Very full itinerary and we had a wonderful time.

    Falls were spectacular

    James_S, Aug 2025
The trip was great but the stops took too long. This should have been a 2.5 hour trip, not 3.5. Guide was informative.

Wonderful scenery, particularly at the falls which has a walkway and viewing points from many different angles. Well worth the visit, tour, and was value for money.

    VINITA_J, Aug 2025
It was a little unorganized at the beginning as to where to meet and the bus assignment was very confusing which most of the passengers felt could have been avoided with better organization. However the tour was great, especially to the falls which are spectacular. The stop at the dam and the plateau was ok. The tour guide was very good.

    Disappointed!

    Thomas_E, Aug 2025
I had been looking forward to this tour since the day I booked. Although I had opted for the Book Now, Pay Later option, I had paid in advance for the tickets. The original pick up location was set and a few weeks later, I received an email of different pick up location. On the day before the tour, I received email an email reminder with original pick up location designated. I sent an email to the tour provider, Maresia Tours, to verify but received no reply. On the morning of the tour, pick up was to be at 9 AM and my husband and I arrived at the pick up location at 8:30. There were already 2 other couples waiting and we were eventually joined by 4 more for a total of 14. At 9 AM, when no driver/guide had arrived, one of the other tour participants called the listed number (on her confirmation) which was answered by someone who couldn’t provide her with any information, stated that he’d call the guide, and a return call would be made. No call ever came and at 9:45 AM, the entire group who had been waiting left. We all walked back to the cruise pier to try and make other arrangements for the day. I would never recommend Maresia Tours due to their unreliability. Now I’m waiting for a refund of the $223.90 USD that was paid for the tour. I would give this tour no stars but the lowest possible was one!

    Response from Host, Aug 2025

Thank you for sharing your feedback. Our designated pick-up point in Eidfjord is conveniently located directly at the pier, and as you mentioned, this updated information was sent to our customers in advance. The meeting point is also correctly listed in our tour description. Unfortunately, Viator’s system sent out an automated reminder with the old meeting point outside the harbor, which we assume it is connected to the date the booking was made. Of course, we are not happy with the situation, but we do appreciate that you explained where the confusion came from. This helped us identify the technical reason behind the issue and allows us to take better action in the future. Please also note that a full refund has already been processed for your booking.

    Cheryl_S, Aug 2025
The hydroelectric dam is an ok stop. The last stop was a waste. Nothing really to see there and it is just a quick stop. Weather wasn’t very good so most of us stayed on the bus. Alexa was a good bus guide and did a nice overview d using our tour.

    awesome views

    Alan_S, Aug 2025
awesome looking…but…once you see it from the top , the other angles , don’t really do it justice….IMO….it’s a tough walk down and back for a “older” person

Sad that the weather was bad, but the area is pretty anyway. Our guide Irene was excellent with providing local information. Driver was very personable too.

    Off to a bad start

    Compson351, Aug 2025
We got off the cruise ship and reported where the directions said to meet up. It was raining and we were all trying to get checked in and on the bus……YES most of us were there early and ready to go! Two gals were not where we were supposed to meet. Finally checked the four of us in and went to get on bus finally. I see my husband and BIL still standing out in the rain. Turned out wrong women checked two of us in (4tickets on voucher. LONG STORY EVEN longer….me and my SIL had to get off bus and on to other one 😡. I was so mad and wet! Excursion was good but will make me re-think using Viator again

Beautiful but Too Long a Trip in the Rain

    Wes_B, Aug 2025
The Hardanger Fjord is beautiful—when you can see it. Same with the Voringfossen waterfall, the dam and the National Park. Unfortunately our trip was chilly, rainy and foggy so no one wanted to linger at any of the stops. The guide gave us too much time at each of the stops, so we were all on the bus ready to go before the designated time. Perhaps on a sunny day it would have been better but as it was, the tour could have been much shorter. The guide otherwise was very good and very informative.

    Eidfjord Tour of Voringfossen

    Doran_C, Aug 2025
This tour included spectacular scenery at the falls and along the drive. Sysendammen wasn’t much but you had to admire the engineering of the dam. Hardangervidda Nasjonalpar was above the tree line and provided a different kind of scenery of rocky moorlands and lakes. Our guide Alexa was fantastic. She continually educated us on the sites we were seeing as well as some history, geography and folklore. The pathways at Voringfossen were rugged and dangerous if you were not careful but well worth the effort to get to strategic viewpoints. The tour was dampened a bit by.the constant rain.

Great bus tour with good stops and narration. Very glad I did a tour vs rental car given the roads and how much I learned.

    Nice tour

    Jennifer_R, Jul 2025
Really nice experience. Tour guide was great. Well paced. Enough time to walk around and explore the sites.

    Krista_G, Jul 2025
We had the best weather to do this excursion. Our guide was knowledgeable and provided a lot of information. If it had been raining, the waterfalls would have been very difficult to navigate. The terrain is sloped and slippery. The trek down the falls is VERY challenging.

Guide was very good and very nice and funny 😆. Enjoyed the excursion very much

    Angela_D, Jul 2025
The day I went it was beautiful weather and warm enough and no rain. But dress in layers as the weather changes quickly. It is easy walking down the mountain to the falls but unless you are a person who is used to climbing up it takes longer to get back up. Great workout though. Enjoy

    Fantastic Tour

This was a wonderful tour! Our guide, Salome was outstanding! She was friendly and had a great sense of humor. The time spent at the waterfall was perfect

    Breathtaking scenery everywhere you look.

    victor_m, Jun 2025
This was a very well organized and very enjoyable tour. The bus was very clean and quite comfortable. The stops were well organized, the guides and the bus driver were all very knowledgeable and friendly. We also didn't feel rushed and thought there was plenty of time to appreciate all the sites we visited, which by the way were all breathtaking.

Great guide in Sam, she was personable and could answer all our questions. Tour was a great overview with enough time at each stop.

    Very interesting and friendly

    JeanYves_C, May 2025
Salomé is a very friendly guide. She teaches you many things about norvégian lifestyle, culture, nature, etc during the bus trip. She answers all questions. Thanks Salome !

Beautiful scenery made special by our guide Salome

    magaccounting, May 2025
Solame is a wonderful guide. She made the already beautiful tour even more memorable. I learned so much from Solame about culture, history and even music. The day was absolutely perfect and the whole experience was enjoyable.

    Great Shore Excursion from Eidfjord

    Nancy_J, May 2025
Excellent bus tour to see the Vøringfoss Waterfalls, the Sysenvatn Dam and the Hardangervidda Plateau. Salome was a great guide and shared much information about all things Norway and this region. She even played In the Hall of the Mountain King and Morning Mood by Norway’s most famous composer, Edvard Grieg. We loved the bus trip into the mountains and through all the tunnels!

    Beautiful Views & Knowledgeable Guides

Amazing views of the waterfalls and national forest! The bus was very comfortable. Our guide was very knowledgeable! The stop at the dam was quite beautiful. Highly recommend this tour!

    Even in a snowstorm!

    Kristine_L, Oct 2024
Our guide, Kid, made seeing the Top of Europe during a snow storm fun. The snow flakes falling were magical!

    Nice tour with great guide

    Natalie_S, Sep 2024
Our tour guide, Necka, was great! She was friendly and knowledgeable. The waterfall was beautiful. There was plenty of time to explore at each stop.

Fantastic views, friendly and fun guide

    Frank_D, Sep 2024
We had a fantastic day today, made all the more so because of our wonderful guide Nekane. She was animated, friendly, and provided a wealth of knowledge on the area. On top of that, the views at each of the stops were incredible. I highly recommend this fun tour!

    Great day

    Mark_B, Sep 2024
Great day even if the weather was crap. Still no rain, no water fall. Driver and Guide were brilliant and the coach was spotless

A very accommodating tour company...and an excellent tour!

    Jose_C, Sep 2024
We were docking at Ulvik and this is the first thing this company made te deserve a good review. They were very accommodating of the needs of not only us, but 19 other guests that arrived at Ulvik in the Norwegian Star cruise ship. The staring point was supposed to be at Eidfjord cruise port, but anyways they made a change in order to modify the tour starting point based on our current situation. This was greatly appreciated and tells good things about this tour company. The guide and driver were excellent (guide name was Stijn) and provided lots of useful information. The tour to the waterfall was very smooth with great views (Norway is a beautiful country) and once we reached the waterfall, the hike was breathtaking (for the effort, but also for the view). This is a very beautiful and impressive waterfall and must be visited when in the area. They delivered us back to the cruise port in a timely and responsible manner. This tour is highly recommended.

    Amazing waterfalls and majestic scenery!

    Laura_D, Sep 2024
We had a wonderful time and our guide, Stijn, and driver, Ruben, made the day even more enjoyable! Stijn had lots of interesting information about the areas we visited and about the history of Norway. The waterfalls, the national park and the hydro dam were all worth the visit! Thanks Stijn and Ruben!
