This was an excellent exploration of traditional Thessaloniki dishes of a complete traditional Greek dinner spread across three separate locations coupled with informative friendly discussion about the food and drink as well as the historical and interesting sights passed on thee strolls between the restaurants. Anna was charming, interesting and a pleasure of a guide and also gave us great tips on other places to visit during our stay in Thessaloniki.

Anna was an amazing guide that not only introduced us to amazing food and drinks (you will leave stuffed!), but also described a lot of Thessaloniki's history and showed us how it is seamlessly integrated in day to day city life. The restaurant and activity tips we received after the tour also proved to be amazing and really made us fall in love with the city.

A disappointment

We’ve been on food tours in six different countries, and it pains me to say that this was the most disappointing and overpriced. Our guide (Konstantina) tried to please us, but unfortunately the itinerary and her poor language skills did not provide for a good tour. At the very least, the guide should provide an explanation of the restaurant and dishes served. E.g. why this restaurant is on our tour (I.e. the chef is famous for his/her special dish, the restaurant is historical, or they make the best pita in town…). Instead we visited a random collection of mediocre to good restaurants, not knowing the names of the restaurant or the reason for the visit. No learning about Greek food or dining culture. Drinks served at only restaurant 1&2 (had to buy my own wine at one point). Lots of stops at some historic points (which we had already visited earlier), but no time spent explaining food. Please stick to a food tour. Lots of bread and stereotypical Greek food (souvlaki, tzasiki, etc) that I can easily eat in the States for less than half the price we paid. Sigh… I really wanted to learn something.

The limitations on the quantity and size of alcohol samples are in place with consideration for participants of varying ages, including families with children, as well as individuals with differing tolerances for alcohol. We'd also like to emphasize that the number of drinks we provide (1 shot of local strong alcohol, 1 glass of wine) is carefully considered to maintain the comfort and safety of the group. Regarding the pricing, we understand your concern. Anna was very informative and knowledgeable about Thessaloniki. She was fun to be with and gave us a list of restaurant recommendations at the end too.. A good tour to do, especially at the beginning of a trip to enable you to have more of an insight into the area and revisit venues mentioned.
