Itinerary
Meet your guide at your hotel on the Guanacaste coast and drive to the private Heliconia Rain Forest reserve at the foothills of the Tenorio Volcano. Begin your tour with an easy hike along a 1.3-mile (2.2-kilometer) trail, making many stops to admire the tropical flora. The walk includes four sky bridges over the rainforest canopy ranging from 114- to 131-feet (35- to 40-meters) high, providing an excellent opportunity to observe birds, butterflies, and bromeliads and to look out over the lush landscape.
Then, your guide will lead you through the reserve’s nature trails, pointing out favorite hang-out spots for wild sloths, monkeys, snakes, owls, and birds in their natural habitats. Afterward, visit two greenhouses, including a tropical nursery and herb and vegetable growing site, and then proceed to a butterfly garden where you can learn about the butterfly lifecycle. End your tour with a taste of fresh coffee grown on-site before returning to your accommodation on the coast.

Wonderful day! Carlos 1 and Carlos 2 were our driver and guide. Both were very kind and patient and even stop for coffee and souvenirs. They shared about the variety of resources in Costa Rica and the animals. We were able to see many animals including sloth, snakes, lizard and butterflies up close! Great memories! Our whole family, including the teenagers, enjoyed the day! Thank you!!

Carlos and Carlos were amazing. Pickup at the hotel was seamless and on time, conversation was easy and very fun. We were treated to some amazing hikes through the rainforest and were able to see fantastic wildlife. Lunch was absolutely delicious at a small family-owned restaurant near the hikes. Our two girls loved ever bit of the experience.

The hike was amazing even though it was breezy. It even rained a bit in the rain forest, which was awesome. After lunch we saw sloths and monkeys, and our guides were friendly and knowledgeable. Muchas gracias!
