We had a great time learning about why mochi is important in Japanese culture, and how to make it. It was fun!

This was such a special and unique experience! Having already done a previous cooking class with Kazuki I knew I had to give this one a go and it was so interesting seeing how traditional mochi is prepared, as well as trying our delicious mochi after all the hard work that went into preparing it. This was the highlight of my time in Takayama and absolute must do for those wanting to have an enriching insight into Japanese food culture and the influence of Buddhism while also trying some great food.

It was a great time. We learned a bit about Buddhism and the history of mochi, and got to get hands on with the whole process. Delicious and fun.

This was such a great experience. Was lovely to do it in an active temple. The teacher was also so good with the kids and encouraging them to participate. Highly recommend!

Thank you for celebrating the spirit of Mochitsuki with us at Takayama Zenkoji. Sharing freshly pounded mochi together is a special moment—may it become a favorite memory from your trip to Japan. We look forward to welcoming you again.

This was a great experience with Kazuki. Not only did he guide us in making mochi, but he also taught us about its history, and how that fit in with the cultural history of Japan as well.
Definitely recommend
