Our tour guide, Micasa-san, had an excellent grasp of Japanese history and culture. He also inquired of our expectations and interests prior to our arrival to enable him to formulate our tour itinerary. He even suggested areas for us to tour on our own prior to our tour.
Would recommend Micasa-san for his experience, personality and ability to put together a tour that aligns with the travelers’ expectations.

Yukoさんdid an excellent job of walking my friend and me around Takayama and explaining its history. We visited the following sites:
* Hida Kokubun-ji Temple
* Sakurayama Hachimangu Shrine
* Hida Takayama Retro Museum
All we're really fun to visit but what made the visit to each of the sites more special was the commentary from Yukoさん. I think this is a great use of your time in Takayama.

Ito-san was by far the best guide we have had in Japan. At first, we were not sure how he would fill four hours in Takayama, since we thought the town was quite small—but he showed us so much of its charm. He was a wealth of knowledge and brought the city to life with his insights. You can tell he truly loves what he does, as he went above and beyond to share his passion with us. This experience is an absolute must in Takayama. Highly recommended—5 stars and more!

Our guide, Yuki, contacted us in advance, warned about expected showers and picked us up directly from our hotel. She showed us the Town Hall, Jinya, the old part of the city, the shrine and the float’s exposition. It was very interesting and informative. Yoshi was fabulous! I enjoyed walking with him and learning about Takayama. He was incredibly knowledgeable, kind and lovely to have as my introduction to the city. I hope you get him for a guide! He took me to an incredible hida beef restaurant that was non touristy!

We had a great experience with our 4 hr walking tour through Takayama. Yuko taught us about Japanese and Takayama history and culture, helped us find personal engraved chopsticks, and even did a little sake tasking. It news a great way to start our vacation adventures with our 14yo daughter in Japan.

This was our first visit to Takayama and weren't sure of what to expect. Well, Takayama is a charming mountain village and Mitsu made a wonderful introduction. Very knowledgeable but also extremely concerned about our desires. We deviated from our intended itinerary based upon a comment we made. Probably, the highlight was the tea tasting Mitsu arranged for us with an expert. Wonderful tasting experience. Definitely visit Takayama and get Mitsu to guide you!

Great tour of Takayama highlights in 1/2 day. Very charminf old town, greenery visit to Hida Folk Village and somewhat surprisingly interesting visit to the Takayama festival float(s) museum and the immediate sorroundings. Definitely worth a visit.

Yoko was a terrific guide - her English was perfect, she kept a steady pace, and she knew all the details of the various places. We asked for a more outdoors experience, and she took us to the Hida Folk Village, the morning market, and Shiroyama Park. The bike ride was nice, and our tour guide was friendly. But he was also unable to answer even the most basic questions about the places we went to--e.g.: the significance of the braided rope in Shintoism. The decision to buy our lunch at a grocery store but not eat it until we had seen another shrine and everyone's cold drinks/food had warmed up was also a strange one. Not a bad time, all in all, but definite room for improvement.
