Guide was a no-show

Valerie_B, Jan 2026
This was the worst excursion experience I ever had! After booking the tour, having it confirmed after a $200 prepayment that was required, receiving a confirmation number, following the instructions regarding place, date and time of the tour, NO ONE SHOWED UP TO GIVE THE TOUR. I contacted Viator and they claimed it was the fault of the local tour guide. The local tour guide claimed they informed Viator back in September that they would not be giving these tours. They also stated they received no prepayment. Essentially, everybody pointed fingers at someone else. However, I contacted my American Express platinum concierge, and they quickly sorted out the problem and removed the $200 prepaid charge from my bill. Amex notified me that it has initially determined that Viator is the party that accepted the prepayment, and Amex is going to take it up with them. I should also note that the concierge desk at The Four Seasons hotel in Sydney where we were staying indicated they do not do business with Viator because of their poor track record. Apparently, experiences like mine are not uncommon. Lesson learned by me!! I will never use Viator again!! I’ll book future excursions with Get Your Guide!!

Missed connection

Dennis_L, Oct 2025
This experience was canceled through an email but not in the app. I did not see the email and showed up. So this was a little frustrating. The refund has been promised.

Fantastic Tour!!!

Shigetsu_S, Aug 2025
Very informative and was a great way to learn about the indigenous people. Loved every bit of the tour.

Necessary, awe-inspiring and beautiful tour

Zoe_G, Jun 2025
This tour is a must-do for anyone visiting Sydney. The knowledge we learned from our Gadigal tour guide was completely necessary for any Australia tourists due to the history of the nation, and the Aboriginal people who inhabited it for over 50,000 years. Learning about the culture and history of an indigenous tribe, in the heart of Sydney despite the massive changes to the land, felt like we were in a different world. We left with so much respect, understanding and awe of the people who had such a physical, spiritual and metaphysical connection to the land we’ve been falling in love with. Knowing what happened when Europe colonized Australia made us very pensive, but having this tour to show us the beauty, spirit and sophistication of the people who knew this continent inside and out was completely and utterly inspiring. Since the tour, we have purchased multiple books and art pieces made by Aboriginal people. Our journey started with this tour, and we plan to bring the knowledge and inspiration with us back to America.

Aboriginal tour of The Rock area

Ann_S, Mar 2025
Tour guide did an excellent job of explaining the lives of the people within Australia before England arrived. Very interesting to learn what a walk about really meant. Would definitely recommend if you want to learn about the lives of the indigenous people

Waited 30 minutes for tour guide who never showed up

RaDene_S, Mar 2025
Our tour was scheduled for Sunday, March 2, 2024. We waited with 8 other people for over 30 minutes, but the tour guide never showed up. We tried calling the tour manager, left a message, and never got a response. Later, I sent an email to the Tour Manager to request a refund and I asked why they didnt contact us about the the cancellation. She responded that there was a glitch in scheduling that they are trying to remedy. There was no apology. She simply told me to contact Viator for the refund. I feel that the tour manager should have reached out to all of those who had reserved this tour to explain why it had cancelled, offered to assist with our refund, and apologized for the inconvenience.

Tour was not set up and verified.

Wendy_F, Mar 2025
The booking never transferred over from Viator to the tour operator, so when we showed up to the meeting point, there was no tour guide. Contacted Viator, but no resolution. We accidentally found the tour operators office and they said this was a persistent problem with Viator. Not a good experience.

Australia's history of...

Karen_L, Mar 2025
Australia's history of the Aboriginal People, a must. The struggles they endured through the years by foreigners.

We really looked forward...

Barbara_L, Feb 2025
We really looked forward to learning about the aboriginal culture. The presentation was very disjointed and very hard to follow. It was very disappointing.

Same coin, different side

Malia_H, Feb 2025
It was nice to hear about the story of the area from the aboriginal perspective. I took a different tour of the rocks as well so it was interesting to compare them. What one group saw as inventive the other saw as destructive.

First Nation knowledge a must!

BernadetteS_S, Feb 2025
Guide was amazing!! She explained the basic concepts of “The First Nation” people and their connections to Mother Earth. Had excellent example of how the plants were utilized for food gathering etc. Excellent overview of the tribe locations and physical separations.

Virginia_C, Feb 2025
Focused on native use of plants and food sources. Also information about their reaction to both Captain Cook and First Fleet arrivals. Same area of the Rocks as the Historical Tour, but a different point of view.

Honoring Indigenous Peoples

Cheryl_D, Jan 2025
This was a passionate look at the history of the original peoples of this land, exploring sights and stories that other tours miss.

Thank you Emily!

Eoin_K, Jan 2025
This tour was so in depth and my group was honored with the humor and knowledge of our guide Emily, who fastidiously relayed the knowledge of Auntie Margret Campbell in a comprehensive and friendly manner. I learned so much about Aboriginal culture without the lens of a settler guide.

Appreciative

Elisabeth_J, Jan 2025
This was a fabulous opportunity to spend time with an aboriginal person who shared cultural knowledge and current status of the aboriginal people. An absolute highlight of my trip! Thank you so very much Donia!

Interesting but mixed

Katie_W, Jan 2025
There were things I loved about this tour- such as the deep dive into First Nations culture; talking about walkabouts and Aboriginal sustainability efforts and plans to advance a combined First Nations/Australian flag. I loved the picture of the coat she shared, and hearing about marriage and cultural traditions. Our guide was full of fascinating information. That said, she seemed oddly disappointed with us, her tour, which we found a bit off-putting. We felt we were being lectured about cell phone use and not having heard of things, when actually we did know them but hadn't understood what she was alluding to. There was no ochre activity as described in the description, and no opportunities to sit. I don't know if our guide was just having an off day as no one else has mentioned these issues, but I was really looking forward to this tour and found it to be mixed. The content was there, but the delivery was a bit off.

Wonderful experience

Alex_T, Jan 2025
Fantastic and entertaining learning experience about Aboriginal history and culture. Our guide was so friendly and knowledgable

Great experience

Jasmin_S, Jan 2025
Very interesting and authentic tour. Every tourist in Australia should do it to get a glimpse into the culture of First Nations people.

An essential experience for locals and visitors

Dianne_C, Dec 2024
Amanda guided us with heart, passion, knowledge, honesty, stories and more. A gently paced and fascinating experience which gave us (2 locals and 2 family members from Europe) a real sense of how this incredible land was inhabited and sustainably cared for by wise custodians. We also gained some small insights into family, customs, connections and responsibilities. We have so much to learn from the first people of this land. Thank you, Amanda and team.

Informative and interesting

Jane_S, Dec 2024
Interesting as we wanted to hear the first people’s history in Sydney and what it meant for them. Amanda was a great tour guide and we left a little more informed than before, thank you

Fascinating Tour

Marlene_B, Dec 2024
So much information we learnt from Amanda...she made us understand more about the Aboriginal Culture in all aspects...food, medicine, marriage and tribal family relationships which gave us more incite. As white Australian women Amanda made us feel welcome and shared so much with her history about First Nations and passion about country. Highly recommended Tour for everyone. Thanks Amanda you were inspiring !!

Learning about aboriginal culture

Susanne_D, Apr 2024
It was a lovely walking tour with a young tour guide who was caring about the needs and walking capacities of all guests.

Incredible!

Joanna_P, Apr 2024
What a fantastic experience! Amanda was an incredible tour guide and truly helped share what it meant to be part of her tribe. I thoroughly enjoyed this experience, and learning about her traditions and history. Would highly recommend, and already have to my friends who live in Sydney.

not worth it

Christiane_R, Apr 2024
Our guide was not an indigenous and rather superficial. Kot what we and also the rest of the group had expected!!!

The Wisdom of an Early People Revealed

Nancy_D, Mar 2024
This walking tour in Sydney introduced us to the culture and customs of possibly the earliest humans on earth. Their connection to the earth and nature is profound and woven into their spirituality and daily lives. This influences many Australians' keen awareness and concern for the environment. We were also shown early evidence of the lives they lived before the arrival of white men. This tour is a must for those interested in the early history of humans in Australia (recent artifacts dated to 80,000 years ago).

Not worth it. Nothing...

Irmine_M, Mar 2024
Not worth it. Nothing else to say. I did not get the experience I had expected. It was disappointing.

Myth buster

Lavern_J, Mar 2024
Brilliant, loved this tour. Very informative and removed alot of myths developed through movies and the media. Always worth getting to know a country's history from the indiginate population.

Highly recommended

Sarojini_S, Feb 2024
Nathan was genuine in his commitment to share his culture and the importance of respect in aboriginal society. Highly recommended.

AAA walk around the Rocks environs. Highly recommended.

Debbie_L, Feb 2024
Emily was amazing. A young Aboriginal woman proud of her heritage and more importantly her family. She educated our Canadian guests, and us, bringing the culture alive.

Must do tour in sydney

Cedric_C, Jan 2024
Knowledgeable, humorous and eye opening. A must do when coming to Sydney. Also the walk around the area is great.
