We booked both this tour and the Bannockburn tour for the same day. We were the only guests on the tours with Steven, which allowed us to rearrange the schedule a bit and enjoy some extra special hospitality. Steven is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about Scottish history, and it comes through in the tour. We would 100% recommend this tour to anyone who wants to learn about the real history of Scotland's fight for independence around Stirling.

Hello Susan and Wiley,
Thank you for your kind words. I am glad you enjoyed our tour. So much history in Stirling and Bannockburn. It was a pleasure to welcome you both and to relive both Battles. Glad you enjoyed the extra hospitality and video links. If you have any queries, contact me on WhatsApp. Thank you, Steven, Oatly and Ayla.

David was an excellent tour guide and very knowledgable about stirling bridge battle and William Wallace. If you want to know where the original bridge and battle was, David has a tablet that shows all the details about the original wooden bridge. There’s no real trace of the bridge now, but David knows. A great tour guide. Take this tour if you want to know about William Wallace! He has even built a model of the original bridge in his yard. Fantastic.👍

Hello Don,
It was great to welcome you to Stirling Bridge. Of all the names I have been miscalled over the years, David is the most popular. I think you are the first reviwer to mention the Stirling Bridge model that my Dad and I built in our garden - thanks for not mentioning that the legs are metal :p
The Bridge is part of our flood defences.
Thank you for your keen interest in Scottish history and our Superheroes from the Wars of Independence. Safe travels and haste ye back ♡ Kind regards, Steven

The tour guide never showed up
My tour was supposed to start at 10am
I’ve been here since 950. It’s 10:20 and no one is here.
Response from Host, Apr 2025
Hi Timothy,
Sincere apologies. I have no excuse for not turning up on Saturday. Earlier in the week I knew about your booking. By Friday, I had convinced myself that my next booking was Sunday the 13th at 2 pm. When it got to Sunday and I didn't have a tour on 13th, but Sunday the 20th at 2 pm, it still didn't click.
On Sunday evening, I read your review. We pride ourselves on our Welcome and clearly this was not the case here. I am so sorry that you took the time to book and turn up and I was not there to welcome you to Stirling.
If you are still in Stirling or will be back soon, I would be happy to make good this error on my part. You can contact me via the contact number on our website. I shall also send you a private message via Tripadvisor.
I will process a refund and there will be no charge if you are able to arrange another date with myself.
I hope you enjoyed your time in Stirling and wish you well on your travels.
Best Wishes, Steven

Absolutely fabulous can't express in words how good the guide STEVEN was and the history of STIRLING
Response from Host, Sep 2024
Thanks Gregory. You should have seen the weather on Mondays Tour!
Drookit! So glad you and Bernadette enjoyed both tours. It's all about the welcome, the warm hug and the thank you. Add in some History and the characters tell their own Story.
Haste ye back ♡
Oatly and Dad.

My wife and I decided to find a tour for the Battle of Stirling Bridge, and are we lucky we found Freedom Tour Today!
Steven’s obvious passion for history clearly guides his career obligation to present the past.
Although we could easily have walked the battlefield and bridge alone, Steven’s tour transcends the accepted, and sometimes simplified, version of history to include a variety of alternate theories and possible locations of the old wooden bridge which take into account new information.
At the end of the tour, we felt informed, entertained, but most of all welcomed to Scotland
Response from Host, Jun 2024
Richard and Zoe,
it was a pleasure to welcome you both to Stirling Bridge. Thank you for reviewing our Freedom Tour. The most important part of the tour is the welcome, the warm hug and the thank you. We are delighted that this came across as we journeyed back in time and through the wars of Independence.
Our aim is:
♥ To provide a warm welcome for visitors to Bannockburn and Stirling.
♥ To offer an outdoor historical walking tour at Bannockburn Battlefield and Stirling Bridge.
♥ To thank people for remembering our great heroes and wishing them safe passage onward.
It is great to know we are achieving that.
Thank you for visiting Stirling and Scotland. We hope that you enjoyed Edinburgh and safe passage home.
Kind regards,
Steven and Oatly

Steven was an awesome guide. He has such knowledge and enthusiasm for history and really went out of his way to answer all our questions. A fantastic tour that I highly recommend.
Response from Host, Mar 2024
Hello Karen, Clara & Megan,
Thank you for your kind words. Yesterday was a special day and you all made what could have been a tough day so much fun - thank you.
You were our first tour since our own Superhero Molly went over the Rainbow Bridge.
Walking Molly at Bannockburn was the inspiration for setting up Freedom Tour Today and she loved welcoming visitors to Bannockburn and Stirling Bridge. Kim and I are running the Womens and Mens 10k in Glasgow in June on behalf of the Dog's Trust and your kind donation will be added to the total.
Thanks again for visiting Stirling and we hope you enjoy the rest of your stay in Edinburgh and Scotland. Safe passage onwards.

Steven is a really knowledgeable guide and passionate local who gives you a great friendly insight into the area and its history. There’s not a lot of walking, but you will be standing for a little while, and an interest in history is key for you to enjoy this tour. We loved it!

Steve’s knowledge of The Stirling Bridge Battle is astounding. He sets the scene and creates an experience you won’t forget. He debunks all the incorrect tales, especially all the Braveheart lies.
Response from Host, Jul 2023
Hello Vicki,
Thank you for your kind words. It was great to welcome you and Ron to Stirling Bridge.
Molly and I have done our best over the past 4 years to welcome visitors to Stirling, especially the small percentage of our visitors who visit Stirling Bridge.

Thank you for taking the time to remember our Superheroes and for visiting Stirling and Scotland ♡
Today is our big day and the kettle is on for your next visit :)
Safe Passage onwards,
