Itinerary
Depart from your hotel before dawn and catch a few moments of sleep during a scenic trip north. Arrive at the geyser field as the sun completes its ascent and casts a spectacular glow over one of the biggest geothermal fields in the world.
Explore the field, marveling at the impressive white column of steam that tops each geyser, then disappears as the temperature increases. Capture fantastic photographs then enjoy a light breakfast of fresh ham or cheese sandwiches, a sweet biscuit, fruit juice, and tea and coffee.
Return to your comfortable minivan and venture to the provincial village of Machuca. Explore the tiny village, consisting of only 10 residents, a wooden church and rustic abodes with thatch roofs, browsing charming artisan stores for bespoke souvenirs. Sample the local specialty of a llama empanada (own expense) then settle into your vehicle for the journey back to San Pedro de Atacama.

- It is recommended that you wear comfortable clothes including trekking pants and shoes, and a windbreaker or warm jacket
- Important: Please bring cash to pay for the entrance fees to our guide. If you do not pay the entrance fee, you will not be able to enter the park and the service will not be refunded.
- Note: El Tatio sits at an elevation of nearly 14,000 feet, which may cause altitude sickness for some; it is recommended that you drink plenty of hot tea or water prior to the tour and carry any necessary medication
- Children under 9 years old are not allowed
- Pick up is from 5:00 to 5:40 summer time and 04:30 to 05:10 winter time.
- You must let us know if you have health problems, medication allergy or any problem that may affect physical performance during the tour
- This tour/activity will have a maximum of 15 travelers

Amazing trip. Had to wake up early, but it was absolutely worth it. The geysers at sunrise were incredible and the landscapes felt surreal. The guides were friendly and everything was well organised. Definitely one of the highlights of our Atacama trip and highly recommended for anyone visiting San Pedro de Atacama.

Dress warmly and in layers. It will be very cold prior to sunrise at 14,000 ft (4.3 km). It
warms up by breakfast time. The geyser area is COLD. But worth it…sunrise is magical. The rest of the tour has amazing scenery, wildlife and volcanic formations. Highly recommend.

I had hard times to be quiet frankly. First I wasn't aware for the temp to be so low it felt like minus 12 degrees celsius. I felt like the guide had connection to some of the group and I felt like I wasnt one of them. Its starts at 5 a.m because the geysers workd only in these hours. Its 4200 meters above sea level and its extreamly windy so come prepared! Use thermic cloth, as a long traveller i saw many geysers around the world and i wasnt impressed at all to be honest. The scenary along the drive is nice. They cahrged extra 15 usd to enter to park so keep in mind in cash in CLP currency. Breakfast was good.

It’s a really early start and the road to the geysers is bumpy at times, it was also really cold - minus 11 Celsius - because it’s so high up, so you need to wrap up warm. But it’s all definitely worth it to see this extraordinary sight. Stefanie, our guide, was excellent in explaining the different types of geysers and their activity. Great breakfast provided as well. Try to stay out of the minibus long enough to see the sun rise ovér the mountains, some of the best photos came then as the sunlight came through the steam from the geysers.
We think a guided tour is a good idea for this visit because of the distance, the time you have to set out and the state of the roads, as well as the information that you get with a guide that you don’t get as a self drive visitor.

Anita was a great guide, you could feel that she lives for that and enjoys what she does every minute.
We were exploring more than expected and also stopped at different viewpoints.
Having breakfast with a view was great, it only lacked on vegan options, which is the only negative point of the trip.

The guide was knowledgeable about the geysers and area. Sebastion, our guide did a good job answering questions. We stopped at other interesting sites on the way back. I live only a few hours from Yellowstone National Park in the USA, so the El Tatio Geysers themselves were not impressive.

Wonderful experience! Ivan, Layra and the rest of the Horizonte team were extremely communicative (English speaking guides available), knowledgeable and professional regarding our tour. My husband and I even learned a thing or 2 about geysers. The company provided us a list of things we needed the day prior (I.e. extra layer of clothes!) and communicated everything via WhatsUp. We ran into Ivan the following day while on another tour, and he offered to take our picture (Thanks Ivan! You’re the best!). We would highly recommend this tour and company to others!
It was an OK tour with a big bus, so it took longer to pick up all in the morning. (Would be better not to pick up considering the amount of persons,《30 )The guide was also OK, but nothing more. So if you like an average tour this is the One!
Everything you could expect from the description. Just be aware that, at that altitude and before dawn, the air temp is below zero.
This was less impressive than the salt flat day tour. They specified early morning start to enjoy the sunrise but that didn't happen. When the sun rose we were asleep in the bus. We could've started the tour at 9am and it wouldn't make any difference. Also too little time for photos with llamas
The geysers themselves were very interesting but not so exciting as ones that we had seen elsewhere in the world.
Overall the tour was a great day out with a super guide who spoke really good English. I would go on it again as we saw some wonderful country.
I provided the pick up address 2months in advance, and reconfirmed this and the pick up time 48 hours before the tour. But despite getting up at 03:15 the bus did not turn up. The Chile enquiry number would not answer when we tried 15 mins after the agrred time, until eventually 30 mins later someone answered who was working from home and based in Santiago. They said they could not find the booking snd slso was unable to contact a different local company tgat was actually providing the tour. We shall see what happens now. So far quite unimpressed by losing a day of holiday.
The bus was uncomfortable. The geysers were good, but the breakfast was not. The village was disappointing. It is too long and not really worth it for those who have seen Yellowstone park or other geysers.
This was a fine tour, and the people contractor Touristour were great. But there was little value added beyond the transit to get to these places, and that's what you're paying for with one exception, which I'll note on that tour's review. Our bus broke down on the way there, so we missed the geysers at dawn. But the company brought substitute transport as soon as possible and was good spirited about it all I can't see blaming them for one of those things that happens. Anyway, though, if you have time and resources to rent a 4WD instead, you would be well advised to do so.
Collected on time, and our guide was very pleasant. We were not rushed thru the geyser area, and he took time to explain different features along the way in both spanish and English. The hot pool was disappointing, only really tepid, with a few warm spots.
The tour operator was great. The reason I can only give this one star is that purchasing the trip through this website is way more expensive than purchasing through the same operator on their website. I learned this after the fact and regret the purchase.
