Our group had an amazing time on our tour. Our tour guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. There was a delicious food spread at our stop and the highlight of the trip was swimming in the Lagoon Céjar. We saw flamingos and had a nearly empty lagoon to swim in for 30 minutes. The tour even provided bath robes to use after the swim.

This is a very pleasant tour to the Atacama, quite close to San Pedro. Victoria was a great guide. Very little walking is necessary. The "floating" in the lagoon was really nice. The refreshments were very tasty.

Fun Experience
The tour was fun. I liked that it was only a half day so we still had free time during the day to explore the town. You start out with swimming in Laguna Cejar, which is a fun experience. You float so easily and the water is refreshing. The only downside to this part of the tour is that the workers at the laguna rushed us a bit, which made everyone kinda stressed, trying to get out of the water and rinse off quickly. We then stopped 2 more times to see other lagunas that you could not swim in. We were also given some snacks and juice or pisco sour. The tour guide gave us information about the lagunas as well. Just make sure to wear sunscreen after swimming because the UV is no joke.

A wild nature of Laguna Cejar
The trip was so fun. Everyone on this trip was happy about it. Swimming in Laguna Cejar was an amazing experience. Watching beautiful flamingos made you feel you were a part of nature. The guide, Alex, was nice, experienced, and knowledgeable. The snacks and drinks were a great plus.
I highly recommend Whipala Expedition, the tour company that organized this trip. They had a clear instruction for the trip and communicated with me timely. I even added more trips with them during my stay in San Pedro de Atacama. Their staff were professional and respectful. I enjoyed all the trips very much.

Wonderful tour
Great outing not too far from San Pedro de Atacama. Water was refreshing. Couldn't believe how we floated so easily. Great afternoon tea after. Recommend this tour.

A great excursion. It was...
A great excursion. It was great to go in Laguna Cejar, but also nice seeing the salt flats around ojos del salar and learning about the different organisms. A good sized group and the snack was obviously great. I definitely enjoyed this Laguna over the other one I did on this trip.

Great time
I had no idea that the lake had hot foutains on its bottom, great surprise. Although the surface was cold, it was a great time.

Beautiful desert fun
Our guide, Alex, was very knowledgeable, friendly, and spoke multiple languages well. He pointed out all the best photo opportunities. We enjoyed our float at Laguna Piedras. You see Cejar, but can no longer float there, unfortunately. Regardless, I highly recommend this tour with Whipala Expeditions.

Tour was organized and on...
Tour was organized and on time. Javier is gives good history and descriptions.
Pickup time was 2:20 and we were returned by 5:45. It doesn't go for 5 hours (which is good, I'm not sure what we would've done). We did Laguna Cejar, then Laguna Tebinquiche. Ojos de Salar is on the way to Tebinquiche and is a 5 min stop. Salar de Atacama is the entire area, not really its own stop. Pisco sour + snacks at Tebinquiche were elaborate.
Only thing that could've been better explained is the swimming situation at Laguna Cejar and what we need to bring. There are very clean public showers and changing rooms! They are a short walk from the Laguna. That walk is rocky / gravelly. Would recommend bringing flipflops so you can walk from the Lagoon to the showers without needing to put hiking boots/shoes back on. The showers are required so you can get the minerals/salts off but are also very short, you are allowed 1-2 mins max just to rinse off. Don't bring shampoo/bodywash, but you can change back into regular clothes in the private changing rooms so you don't need to keep your swimsuit on under your clothes after you swim.

Unique experience
We really enjoyed our experience of floating without any effort in a lagoon in the Atacama desert: it was very unique! The park had installations to take a shower to rince ourselves afterwards, restrooms and changing rooms, which was very convenient. With the exception of the lagoon we were floating in, we could not really go near the other lagoons; they were a bit far and we could barely see them in the photos we have taken. Our guide Rafael was great: he was really kind with us, ensured we were drinking water and putting on sunscreen and told us relevant information about the lagoons and the desert.

How to get there
When to visit

- Pack sunscreen, a hat, and plenty of water to combat the desert heat, and don’t forget your swimsuit. Bring warm clothing for the evening, too, as temperatures can drop quickly—even in summer.
- There is an admission fee to swim in the lagoon, but you can admire the views from afar without paying.
- The salty water can be very drying to your skin; you will probably want to shower upon returning to your hotel. When swimming, take care not to get the water in your eyes.
- The desert has scarce cellphone service, and only a few San Pedro de Atacama hotels offer Wi-Fi.
- The Cejar Lagoon is surrounded by natural banks of salt deposits, which can be uneven and loose in places; access for wheelchairs and strollers is limited.
