We had an absolutely amazing day on the Full Day Tour to Piedras Rojas, the Altiplanic Lagoons, and Chaxa with our wonderful guide Nicholas and our excellent driver Andrés. From start to finish, the experience was flawless.
Nicholas was incredibly knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and attentive — he made the landscapes come alive with fascinating explanations of the history, culture, and wildlife of the region. His passion and friendliness created such a welcoming atmosphere, and he always made sure everyone in the group was comfortable and enjoying themselves.
Andrés was an outstanding driver, navigating the long routes and mountain roads with absolute professionalism and care. We always felt safe and relaxed, which made it easy to just enjoy the stunning views.
The tour itself was unforgettable: the otherworldly beauty of Piedras Rojas, the serene Altiplanic Lagoons, and the breathtaking wildlife at Chaxa were sights we will never forget. The timing of the stops was perfect, the meals and snacks were thoughtfully provided, and every detail was so well organized.
This was without a doubt one of the best tours we’ve ever taken. Nicholas and Andrés made the day truly special, and we cannot recommend them and this tour highly enough!

This tour is so nice, it is included tickets, breakfast and lunch. And the tour guide was so nice. He speaks English so well and takes good care of us

Amazing experience from start to finish. The landscapes were absolutely unreal — Piedras Rojas, the Altiplanic Lagoons, and Chaxa Lagoon all felt unique and breathtaking in different ways. Seeing flamingos in such beautiful surroundings was a highlight. The tour was very well organised, the guide was excellent, and there were plenty of opportunities to enjoy the scenery and take photos. Definitely one of the best tours we did in Atacama and highly recommended.

Excellent tour ( includes full breakfast and lunch). Our tour guide and driver were very informative, professional and friendly. This time of the year is windy so dress accordingly. Don’t forget to bring water to stay hydrated because of the altitude. The panoramic views are insanely beautiful. Highly recommended!

Would highly recommend this tour. It was 10 hours but it didn’t seem that long as we were constantly seeing things and on the move.
Our tour guide (can’t remember his name) was great. Made the trip an enjoyable experience and spoke perfect English, we were sat next to him in the front of the mini bus so we were able to ask him a lot of questions.
On of the best things about this tour was the food. We’ve been on a lot of these types of tours and some times the food is not good but both the breakfast and lunch was very fresh and tasty.
Can’t think of anything to improve it!

Brandon is passionate about his country, its history and geography. It was an amazing experience for us.

Andreas is a great guide! A beautiful trip, well designed to make the most of the day and allow the scenery to build.

The places you go on this tour are spectacular. The tour guide and logistics, not so much. Our guide ignored us and at the end just dropped us all off in the middle of town, even though they picked us up from our hotels. Most people were left confused about this and had to scramble to find transportation back in the hot sun after a 10 hour excursion. None of the communication that was sent to me via WhatsApp mentioned the drop off point.

Great excursion and guide/driver. We especially enjoyed the salt flats and the walk to get out there.

It is a long journey and interesting things to see. Of the total of 10 hours trip, we spent 2 to 3 hours visiting sites and walking/hiking and about 6 hours in the car, put it mildly, was very uncomfortable. Seats were really bad and no place to put your water bottle, other than your lap. Leg room was worst than what you have in economy class flights.

Andrés, our guide, and Jordan, our driver, were exceptional hosts. From start to finish, they were friendly, knowledgeable, organized, and solicitous. We had the feeling that they knew exactly how to avoid the crowds and timed everything perfectly. We learned a lot from George’s narration on the trip, and his English translations were spot on, so we never felt like we missed out on any information. They also provided delicious food and drinks.
The Red Rocks full day tour was one of two tours we took with the Puka Rumi tour company, and we thoroughly enjoyed both. We HIGHLY recommend this tour, and we would take any other tours they offer without hesitation.
Thank you for making one of our three days in Atacama a memory that will last a lifetime!

This is my favourite tour out of all the tours I’ve taken around the world, mainly because the Atacama Desert had long been at the top of my travel list. Our guide Francisca and our driver (whose name I unfortunately can’t remember) organized everything exceptionally well. Breakfast and lunch were included, both set up picnic‑style in a picturesque area near the small mining town of Socaire. The food was tasty and impressively varied considering it wasn’t prepared in a restaurant. In under five minutes, Francisca and the driver had the folding table set up and all the dishes and drinks arranged with incredible efficiency.
We visited truly remarkable places that day, many of them looking like surrealist paintings. At Chaxa Lagoon, set in the salt flats, we saw flamingos. We made several stops at the altiplanic lagoons, spotting vicuñas along the way - these are the smallest camelids in the world. The tour ended at Piedras Rojas, one of my favourite places on Earth: imagine red rocks, turquoise lagoons, salt flats, and snow‑capped volcanoes in the background. And almost no crowds, our small group was the only one there. On the way back to San Pedro de Atacama, we had lunch in the same spot where we’d had breakfast, again greatly organized by Francisca and the driver. All entrance fees were included in the tour price. What an incredible day overall.

This is a fantastic tour. You should be aware of the high elevation: 4,200 meters or 13,800 feet. I had a bit of difficulty hiking at the elevation. But the scenery was amazing and Francisca was a great guide.

Prepare for the altitude which is physically testing but the scenery is a feast for the eyes. A comprehensive tour of the glory of the Chilean Andes.

Leo was an excellent guide. He gave plenty of explanations. And he brought good atmosphere and had an appropriate ans excellent playlist. The organisation by Pukarumi was run very smoothly. I would highly recommend this trip as the Piedras Rojas are really a highlight of a trip to Atacama.

Poor pre-trip interaction. Not clear what time to be at pick up point. They could have done a better job to be sure.

So many beautiful sceneries. Seeing flamingos and llamas in their natural habitats was super cool. The mountains in contrast to the desert and water is seriously breathtaking. You feel so small. The meals were simple but tasty. Our tour guide was informative throughout the whole tour.
Florian_R, Jan 2026
The scenery was impressive. The tour was very well organized with clear communication beforehand from the tour guide. The tour guide has put efforts into making photos and providing information to the different places.
The breakfast was okay/good, the lunch was delicious!
However, it was almost no hiking. We basically drove from place to place and it sometimes felt we only stopped a few minutes to make some photos and then directly move on. It felt a bit too rushed.

This was a wonderful tour with a fantastic guide and driver. It is as its described - each of the stops was unique and interesting. It was great to see the three different flamingo species, as well as vicuñas and an Andean fox! The walk to the piedras rojas was relaxed and not challenging in the altitude. The breakfast and lunch were both lovely too. In general, the whole tour was well planned and thoughtful.

Pro:The experience was great because we had a clear night and Jared was incredibly knowledgeabke. The other man (I forget his name) who helped with pictures on our own devices was so nice and helpful.
Con: group size was large and on the younger side which impacted the experience for us because they were loud and seemed intoxicated.

We had a really good time , sightseeings and views were great, a must visit during atacama desert trip for all. Food provided was really nice too both specially the breakfast.

Good trip. Food basic but good. Guide worked well in Spanish and English. Enjoyable. Drop off back to hotel would be helpful.

Great tour where we got to see flamingos, saltlakes, vicunas and much more. The tour was very well arranged and our guide Franciska was very knowledgeable. It is very windy and a bit cold at times, there is also a bit of walking so comfortable clothes are a must.

I had Ivan and Daniel as guide and driver. Ivan has lots of knowledge so its best to keep attention to what he says. Breakfast and lunch was beyond my expectations! Really good! Btw Hummos supposed to be white! Anyway we went to see 2 lagoons and a village before arriving at piedras rojas which was beautiful (its super windy wind at 30 kmh) so just bring thermical clothing. Then we saw Flamincos and other wildlife such as andian fox. I enjoyed the trip very much!

Amazing. Cris was an amazing and kind tour guide (Jordan was a great driver and co-host). I went in the winter (July) - it was chilly in the morning and warms up...but phenomenal with the snow. This is one of the most gorgeous places on the planet. If you've been to California's Death Valley, the area is similar, yet MUCH bigger, higher, more contrasts, and with Flamingoes!
