Complete tour of Rhodes

Anita_s, May 2025
We had a nice comfortable bus to travel around in. Tour guide was excellent. Explored many different parts of Rhodes!! Highly recommend this tour!!

Awful Van Seating

Donald_C, Apr 2025
Our tour bus was a Mercedes van. The van seating distance between seats was so small, I could not fit my knees between my seat and the seat in front of me. I had to sit sideways with my feet in the aisle and with the seat arm digging into me. I am 6ft 3 inches tall and have never had a seat this close where it is impossible to sit. The tour has approximately 3 hours of driving. It was hard to enjoy the tour when 3 hours of the 5 hour tour was terribly uncomfortable. If you are taller than 5ft-10 inches tall, I would NOT recommend this tour. The tour itinerary was ok. You get to see 2 sides of the island of Rhodes. Our tour guide was ok, but not as good as our other tour guides on this cruise. The tour company needs to change the van seating to allow more space between the seats.

Response from Host, Apr 2025

Dear Donald, With all due respect to your 6 ft 3 inches, we are not able to modify the van seating to allow more space between the seats, as no technical changes to tourist vehicles are permitted by law in the EU. All vehicles must strictly adhere to the settings and spacing provided by the manufacturer. Let us better refer your recommendation directly to the Mercedes-Benz Company so they can take it into consideration when designing their next van model. However, if their future models still do not meet your expectations, we would strongly recommend that when traveling outside the US, you consider booking private tours instead of shared ones, ordering special personal transportation that can hopefully better accommodate your 6 ft 3 inches comfortably. Regarding the timing, this is a 6-hour tour with approximately 2 hours spent in the van, though understandably, the drive may have seemed longer to you. As for the guide mentioned, Ioanna is one of the top 10 guides in Rhodes, with many glowing reviews available. It seems, however, that you might not have had enough opportunity to appreciate this, perhaps due to being preoccupied by “the seat arm digging into you”. Wishing you safe and joyful travels!

Great experience, highly recommended!

Jun_M, Jul 2024
Fun and informative tour, highly recommended! The guide and the driver were very friendly and helpful throughout the time together. The guide provided concise, interesting information along with humours stories regarding the area/Greece/culture/local produce. Thanks a lot for the great experience, we had a lovely time!

The Old Town

Patrick_B, Jul 2024
The guide was great and very knowledgeable. She was full of energy which made the tour that much more enjoyable.

SUPER!!!!

Sonya_F, Jul 2024
Our tour guide and driver were incredible. We learned so much about the history of Greece. It as a wonderful trip! Thank you!

Disappointing tour

Kerrie_D, Jul 2024
It would be have been nice if they had told you that you had 2 hours in Lindos and that there was swimming nearby. The guide walked too fast, with such big crowds, that half the group could not hear her commentary or keep up while walking through Lindos. There was no stop at Mandraki Harbour. As for the wine tasting there was no introduction to the wines - just a quick pour into a glass and then on to the next. Really wondered what the purpose of this was.

Response from Host, Jul 2024

We regret to hear about your disappointment, let me address each concern raised: 1. Most guests usually find relevant information in the tour description and itinerary available on this website. If you have any further questions, we are available to assist you 24/7. 2. Lindos is well-known for its Acropolis and village, but visitors who prefer swimming have the flexibility to enjoy the nearest beaches during leisure time provided on this tour in Lindos and in the Old Town 3. According to Ioanna, one of the top 10 guides in Rhodes with an excellent reputation, proven repeatedly on this website, our bestselling tour maintained its standard pace that day. However, it seems you had difficulty keeping up due to limited walking ability, an aspect cautioned in the Additional Info section of the tour description. 4. It is worth mentioning that this tour is not recommended for participants with limited walking abilities, as outlined in the Additional Info section. 5. As your feedback regarding hearing your guide stands out from the rest of your group, we recommend consulting an otolaryngologist regarding any hearing concerns, as guest health is a top priority for us. 6. There was no stop at Mandraki Harbor as per the tour itinerary we pass it by 7. Concerning the wine tasting experience, given your another unique complaint about not hearing the certified sommelier at one of the local restaurants, we strongly advise seeking immediate medical attention from an otolaryngologist, because traveling with unresolved hearing issues can pose risks. It appears that your disappointment stems from challenges following the group in pedestrian areas during the walking parts of the tour. Please bear in mind that this is a shared tour, and we emphasize considering fellow guests' time constraints. We recommend being considerate of others who have limited time ashore and avoiding situations where one person's needs significantly impact the overall experience. Please consider booking private vs shared tours. Wishing you safe travels.

Amazing Rhodes

Rajesh_G, Jul 2024
Excellent tour for the Rhodes Island. Great to visit the old town, as well as town of Lindos. Guide was knowledgeable and very entertaining.

Johana is a Greek treasure

Diego_R, Jun 2024
Enjoyed the experience. Johana was amazing. I do feel it could of been a little shorter. The wine was underwhelming and another restaurant would be better.

Response from Host, Jun 2024

Thank you for your positive feedback and kind words about our guide. The tour duration is designed based on feedback we have collected over the last 23 years, primarily from cruise ship passengers. Thank you for your input regarding the wine tasting. Since yours is the second critical feedback about the complimentary wine tasting held in one of the oldest, most popular, and less touristy restaurants of the Old Town, we have decided to make it optional for an additional 25 EUR starting in 2025. Thank you very much for your help. Safe and joyful travels!

Beautiful Rhodes

Arcadia_W, Jun 2024
I'd like to start by saying that our tour guide was fantastic. She was knowledgeable, upbeat, funny and very feisty. Her humor made the tour a great time. Rhodes was beautiful and I wish we had more time to explore, but maybe one day we will be back. The only things that we did not care for, were the random stop at a ceramic/olive oil shops. In my opinion these stops were underwhelming and I personally could have done without them. The wine tasting is not what I was expecting. It was at a very small restaurant, they shared three different wines with us and no explanation of what we were tasting. Personally the wine was not very good, but that was just my taste. I would skip the wine tasting and explore the market instead, because after you are done with the tasting you don't have time for shopping. Overall I would still recommend this service. Specially if you get our tour guide...which I feel bad, but I can't remember if her name was Loanna or Joanna. My apologies for that.

Response from Host, Jun 2024

Thank you for your positive review and kind words about Ioanna. There’s no doubt she is one of the top 5 guides in Rhodes. Regarding the stop at the ceramic factory, it was primarily to show our guests how pottery has been made in Greece since ancient times and to demonstrate how a piece of clay transforms into a piece of art right before your eyes. We appreciate your feedback about the wine tasting. We've decided to stop including it as a complimentary feature and will make it optional for 25 EUR starting in the 2025 tourist season. Safe travels!

This tour was definitely not what I signed up for - what olive tasting

fmwong4, Apr 2024
The olive oil tasting was a total disappointment. There was a basket of bread, toothpicks and 4 bottles of olive oil and a few sweet dips- honey and other flavors. No explanation, just a shop that you go in and help yourself. The tour guide spent more time on pottery and the process of making pottery than the olive tasting. I personally chose it for olive oil tasting. The pottery was not my primary and the tour barely mentioned it. The wine was in town at some restaurant - you had 3 different tasting - white/ rose and red served with olives and bread. That’s it. The tour guide was personable. I personally did not care for her jokes concerning female - something to with a good wife and philosopher. It was demeaning towards women.

Response from Host, Apr 2024

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We regret that certain aspects of the tour did not meet your expectations. We have carefully reviewed each concern you raised. It appears that the main issue stems from a joke made by Ioanna, known for her keen sense of humor. While the joke caused all the other tour participants to burst out laughing, we understand it seemed inappropriate to you. Please note that the gender ratio on the bus was balanced at about 50/50. We assure you that the joke was not intended to be sexist; it is a traditional, old, and locally appreciated joke that reflects the cultural heritage of Rhodes. Regarding the olive oil tasting, you may have missed the details provided by your guide, as you opted out of the pottery show, which did not interest you. You might have learned that this is not merely a shop; it showcases olive oils and honeys produced exclusively by the same esteemed Greek family that owns this ceramic workshop. As for the wine tasting, it was conducted by a certified sommelier from a renowned restaurant in the Medieval City, and included four types of wine, not three. Local olives and homemade bread were served as appetizers, which are commonly used in wine tastings worldwide to complement the wine. Based on your feedback, we are considering making the wine tasting an optional activity with an additional fee of 25 EUR per person starting next season, aligning with common practices in Greece. To put it succinctly, we strongly advise that when traveling globally, you make an effort to understand the cultural differences between countries. What might be considered disrespectful in one culture could be highly esteemed in another. We apologize if this seems old-fashioned, but here in Greece, we still recognize and value the distinctions between genders. Safe travels!

Wonderful day in Rhodes

Rhodes and Lindsay in a day.

Dorothy_R, Apr 2024
It was great to see Lindsay and the Arcropolis. Good mix of activities, including the walk through Rhodes Old City and the wine tasting and the ceramic shop.

Great day trip!

Janine_J, Apr 2024
The tour was fantastic and the tour guide and driver were very accommodating. I wish we had more time in Lindos but i am also very greatful for all the different sites we visited! I think the olive, honey and olive tasting could have been a little more informative- as i was intrigued about this- but i still really enjoyed it! Thank you for making my time in Greece even more enjoyable! Janine xoxo

Don't skip it!

Nova_E, Apr 2024
Our guide, Ioanna, was an absolute treasure - incredibly welcoming, well-informed, and passionate about her island. The convenience of being picked up and dropped off directly at the ship was seamless. Our driver was also very kind and safe. The minibus was spotless and gleaming. The day offered a perfect blend of experiences: history, culture, pottery, shopping, and tasting olive oil, honey, and wine at a restaurant in the Old Town where we chose to dine post-tour was outstanding!!! Overall, this was the top tour among all the ports we visited.

Zero stars for tour guide and 5 stars for Viator

Fatima_A, Mar 2024
I am giving Viator 5 stars as I have always had great experiences with them but tour guide receives ZERO stars. My tour was supposed to be at 9am with pick up at port. I was on a cruise and chose not to pay $25/day for internet so did not see message sent moving time to 8:45 until I was out of boat. All other tour guides have had signs or my name for promptly finding them and this one did not. I walked and asked several local cabs and all sent me to one corner outside port. My husband sent guide 3 messages and the guide responded at 9:10 that they had left. I called ctr svc and they asked guide to go back and he refused. Viator refunded our tour charges which is why I cant give Viator a bad review.

Response from Host, Mar 2024

Dear Fatima, thank you for the 5-star rating you awarded Viator. However, regarding the zero stars you attributed to the tour guide, we wish to clarify that we will not be forwarding this feedback to her as she has had no direct interaction or correspondence with you. 1. In line with our policy, we do not share the contact information of tour guides with customers. 2. Concerning timing, we advise you to refer to the additional information provided in the tour description. It specifies that the start time listed on the website serves as a general estimate for when the activity begins and may not directly match the specific pick-up time communicated to guests later. Your designated pick-up time between 8:45 - 9:00 AM was conveyed to you five days before the tour's commencement. 3. According to port security records, the minibus departed at 9:14 AM. The delay was due to our team's efforts to find you reaching via email and phone number provided during booking, which, unfortunately, was out of the coverage area. 4. We did not request the guide to return as the tour is not a private one. The group of 17 faced no difficulties locating their minibus parked directly in front of your ship. At that time, they continued their tour, seeing no reason to postpone their limited time ashore. 5. When booking shared tours, please do not expect a personalized greeting sign. It is more common to see the company's name displayed, as there is no space to list the names of all group participants. Your refund has been processed exceptionally, diverging from our cancellation policy, as a gesture of goodwill at the onset of the 2024 cruise season. For future travels and booking, we highly recommend that you pay closer attention to the descriptions, timing, and provided meeting instructions to ensure a smooth experience. Safe travels!

Definitely book this tour!

nthompson02, Dec 2023
Our guide, Iwana (spelling?) and this agency was amazing. She was so knowledgeable and passionate about her island of Rhodes! She packed in a full day for us by taking us to the acropolis and giving us time to do what we wanted. We did the most affordable, fun shopping out of all of the islands that we went to on our cruise ( in the mideaval city and at the acropolis). The pottery demonstration was very interesting. We all bought some beautiful pieces. The olive oil and wine tasting next door was delicious! Lunch was great! The driver and very nice vehicle made seeing this beautiful island very enjoyable!

Response from Host, Dec 2023

We are glad to hear that you had such a wonderful experience with Ioanna. It sounds like she provided a comprehensive and enjoyable tour, combining historical sites like the Acropolis with leisure activities like shopping, pottery demonstrations, and tastings of local olive oil and wine. It's great that the lunch, the driver, and the vehicle all contributed to your positive experience. Your feedback highlights the diverse attractions of Rhodes and the expertise of your guide. Thank you for sharing. Safe travels!

Excellent refund policy

Le_T, Dec 2023
Unfortunately, the shore excursion was canceled due to bad weather forcing our cruise ship to skip calling the island port. The tour agent was contacted and a full refund was quickly issued. Kudos to the tour agency.

Response from Host, Dec 2023

Thank you for your kind feedback. We regret that your ship couldn't dock in Rhodes because of the unfavorable weather conditions. Fortunately, we managed to promptly process a full refund for you. Your encouraging comments mean a lot to us. We hope they will also reassure other potential cruisers and inspire them to book their next journey with us

Beautiful Rhodes

Rick_B, Oct 2023
We had a wonderful time in Rhodes. Visited the Acropolis in Lindos, did a city tour, and saw the medieval section of Rhodes. Stopped at pottery place along the way where they make pottery. Very beautiful pieces. We bought two. Our tour guide Giannia (sp?) was exceptional and very knowledgeable. Highly recommend this tour.

Response from Host, Oct 2023

Thank you for sharing your experience in Rhodes. It sounds like you had a memorable time exploring Lindos, the city, and the medieval section. Buying those beautiful pottery pieces must have been a great souvenir. We are happy to hear that Ioanna's expertise made the tour even better. Safe travels!🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Great trip

Ianthe_B, Oct 2023
Tour guide was great, I think her name was Joanna/ Iona. Really informative and the trip was great value for money.

Response from Host, Oct 2023

Thank you for your feedback! We're delighted to hear that Ioanna did a good job, and that you found the trip to be great value for money. We appreciate your kind words!

Passionate!!

Holli_B, Sep 2023
Johana was awesome!! The history all along the way was great. The demo of pottery making, tasting of honey, olive oil, lunch and wine was an excellent rounded experience!!

Response from Host, Sep 2023

Thank you for your wonderful review. We're thrilled to hear you enjoyed your experience with Ioanna and appreciated the historical insights as well as the hands-on demonstrations and tastings. We strive to offer a well-rounded experience and are glad we met your expectations. Hope to see you again soon!

Just book it!

Susan_T, Aug 2023
Our driver and tour guide were exceptional, covering all the highlights of Rhodes and more. Having a guide in both Lindos and the Old Town was a real time-saver. One of our favorite activities when visiting a foreign country is interacting with the locals. At our request, our guide took us to places frequented by residents, such as a fish market, which proved to be quite fascinating. Unfortunately, we didn't have enough time to explore other off-the-beaten-path locations. However, this experience has piqued our interest in returning to Rhodes, perhaps flying in to spend more extended time exploring. Who knew the island was so expansive and stunning! Moreover, this tour was significantly more affordable than those offered by the cruise ship. We had a more intimate experience with just 15 other participants, compared to the 50-person groups on ship-organized tours. I highly recommend booking through Viator, which collaborates with local suppliers. You'll spend less and see at least three times as much—don't hesitate, just book it! Believe me, I know what I'm saying; I've spent 30 years in the tourism industry myself.

Response from Host, Aug 2023

Thank you so much for your glowing review! We're thrilled to hear that our driver and tour guide exceeded your expectations and that you got to experience both the highlights and local favorites of Rhodes. It's particularly gratifying to know that our smaller tour size offered a more intimate experience for you. Your words mean a lot, especially coming from someone with 30 years in the tourism industry. We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back to Rhodes for a more extended visit in the future. Thank you for choosing and recommending Viator and us - their modest suppliers. Safe travels!

A perfect day of history, craftsmanship, Greek food and wine

Michael_T, Aug 2023
I had the privilege of partaking in the Rhodes Shore Excursion that included a visit to Lindos Old Town, a ceramic workshop, and wine tasting in the medieval city, and I cannot recommend this experience enough! Our day started with a scenic drive to the charming Lindos. Our guide, Maria, was incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about the history of the area. Walking through the narrow cobblestone streets felt like stepping back in time, with every twist and turn revealing a new treasure. Maria shared stories that brought Linos' ancient history to life, making the stunning Acropolis even more awe-inspiring when we reached it. The panoramic view from the top was simply breathtaking and provided the perfect backdrop for photos. Next, we were taken to a local ceramic workshop where we had the opportunity to learn from artisans who have been practicing this craft for generations. The level of detail that goes into each piece was incredible to witness. The day ended on a high note with wine tasting in the heart of Rhodes’ medieval city. The venue was like stepping into another era — exposed stone walls and wooden beams gave the place an air of authenticity that was unforgettable. Our host was well-versed in the nuances of local wines, and we were treated to a variety of options, each with its own distinct flavor and backstory. Overall, this Rhodes shore excursion was an unparalleled blend of history, craftsmanship, food, and wine. Five stars don't seem enough for such a well-organized, enriching, and enjoyable experience. If you're planning a visit to Rhodes, this excursion is an absolute must!

Response from Host, Aug 2023

Thank you so much for your glowing review! We're thrilled to hear that you had such a memorable experience on our Rhodes Shore Excursion. Maria will be delighted to know that her knowledge and passion enhanced your visit to Lindos and its breathtaking Acropolis. We're also glad you enjoyed the hands-on experience at the ceramic workshop and the wine tasting in the medieval city. Your kind words validate our team's hard work in providing an enriching and comprehensive experience for our guests. We can't wait to welcome you back on another adventure. Thank you for choosing us and for highly recommending our excursion. Safe travels!

5-Star Service!!! Amazing Tour!!!

Chris_W, Aug 2023
I booked this tour from Sweden, and I must admit that initially, I had some concerns about embarking on shore excursions in unfamiliar ports. I was traveling on a cruise ship alone with my 7-year-old daughter, but any worries were quickly dispelled by our incredible 1-day tour of Rhodes. Our group consisted of only 12 people in total—11 adults and my daughter—all of whom were passengers on the same cruise ship. We travelled in a comfortable, modern Mercedes-Benz minivan, its stylish red colour amusingly matching my dress😊 LOL. Our driver was both friendly and professional, going the extra mile to ensure his on-board fridge was always stocked with ice-cold bottled water. Our tour guide, Joanna, was excellent. She provided a comprehensive overview of Rhodes' history, culture, and local life. We had the opportunity to sample local honey, olive oil, and delectable wines. Since my daughter is too young for wine tasting, our gracious host Georgos arranged a special grape tasting for her, through which she learned about the variety of Rhodian grape plants. So impressed were we by this tour that I reached out to their manager Despina the very same day to express my gratitude. I also inquired about booking similar tours in the other ports we would be visiting during our Mediterranean cruise. Fortunately, they offer services not only in Greece but also in Italy, Spain, Turkey, and Malta. In summary, I wholeheartedly recommend this tour company. They are trustworthy, reliable, and efficient, and their tour guides are both entertaining and knowledgeable. We received five-star service at every port. As for Rhodes, we fell in love with the island and plan to return during the off-season in 2024, following Despina's recommendation.

Response from Host, Aug 2023

Thank you for sharing your wonderful experience! We're thrilled to hear that you and your daughter had an exceptional tour in Rhodes. It's gratifying to know that our efforts to create a comfortable, informative, and enjoyable experience resonated so well with you. We're especially delighted that Joanna and our driver contributed to making your tour memorable. We look forward to welcoming you back in 2024 and to serving you in other ports as well. Thank you for your strong recommendation and for taking the time to reach out to Despina; your feedback is invaluable to us. Safe travels!

Tiring but worth going on

Derek_K, Jul 2023
It was very hot on the day of our tour. Rhodes harbour is very scenic with the Old Town as a backdrop. Our tour bus was right on time. Our guide was very nice and informative. This wasn't exactly a tour of the island. The only places we stopped at were Lindos and a place that made pottery. Lindos, like so many Greek island towns, is an ancient town with very narrow streets. In places there is only enough room for one person to pass another. Our guide took us down a steep hill into the town where we could go off for about 90 minutes. We were told it is easy to get lost in the labyrinth of alleyways. We all went off in different directions. My wife and me did not want to get lost so we kept track of where we went. We eventually found our way to a small picturesque bay but we did not stop for long. As we made our way back to our meeting place we stopped to take in a glass of fresh orange juice. Our guide had told us that the orange juice here is so sweet. She was right - it was so, so nice - made in front of our eyes with the juice of at least four fresh oranges. We made the tiring walk back up the hill to catch our bus which then took us to the pottery place where we had lunch. We had a fascinating demonstration of making a vase on the pottery wheel. Before our eyes, the potter took a cheesecutter and cut the vase he had just made from top to bottom. It was to show how to tell if somethng like that was handmade - look for the grooves inside made by the potter's fingers. Lunch ws a lovely cheese, ham and salad roll followed by a banana. We visited the pottery shop. Not surprisingly, everything was very expensive but OK if you wanted a memento of the visit. Onto the bus and back to Rhodes Town. The guide gave us a history of the town which was really interesting. It is one of the last remaining fortified towns with its huge walls. In some places, invaders would have had to get through at least three walls before even entering the town. We were told of the history of certain buildings and then taken to a tavern where we tasted three different wines all of which were very nice. Back into the streets which were very busy and onto the tour bus. We got back to our ship in good time. Recommended to any first-time visitors. Rhodes is a lovely place and is recommended to visit.

Response from Host, Jul 2023

Thank you for your detailed review. We are glad that you enjoyed your tour in Rhodes, appreciated the scenic views, and found our guide informative. We're thrilled that you loved the orange juice in Lindos and the pottery demonstration. We appreciate your feedback on the limited stops, and we'll consider adding more variety in the future. It's great to know you found the history shared by our guide interesting and the wine tasting enjoyable. We hope to welcome you again in the future for another memorable tour.

Great trip

Joan_W, Jun 2023
Our tour guide was great. He knew everything plus. Very informative. Only problem was that apparently, 2 excursions were combined and it was a very full bus. Not used to that with Viator.

Response from Host, Jun 2023

Joan, thank you for your positive feedback and the lovely words about Diana. We appreciate your preference and support. We understand that you were expecting a smaller vehicle than a 20 seater Mercedes Benz minibus on this shared tour. It seems there may have been a misunderstanding, as working with Viator we typically use smaller vehicles only for private tours. Nonetheless, we value your feedback and will strive to ensure better communication in the future. Thanks again for your excellent review.
