A lovely drive for a taste of real champagne

This tour takes you on a lovely drive outside of Reims and into the heart of Champagne, where you are able to get up close and personal with the grapes that go into our favourite drink with bubbles. Christophe is knowledgeable about the region and makes for an entertaining host/driver. You sample two different local champagnes en plein air from the back of his Defender! The views over Chaméry and beyond to Reims are gorgeous. If you are looking to visit actual wineries/caves, this is not the tour for you.

Hello thank you for these completely accurate explanations. Jute a small rectification this experience that you have chosen as explained on the site of Viator, is: Champagne tasting, panoramic walk in the vineyards. There is no cellar visit but rather a discovery experience walk in the vineyard of the mountain of Reims. You are immersed in the vineyards and on the highest points with a handcrafted cup of champagnes. We can greet and see the people who work in the vineyards. We pass through the villages of the premier cru and I present to you curiosities of the region monument, closed, village wash house and champagne houses in the small rising streets. For the visits to the winemakers with the cellar visit and tasting as well as the walk and tasting in the vineyards. You will find it on Viator it is called: Visit of the cellar and tasting walk in the vineyards. Thank you for your appreciation christophe.

No walking through the vineyards

There was no walking. Four of us in the rear of the jeep had to sit with our backs to the windows so no panoramic. Terrible champagne and an unknowledgeable guide. A waste of 2 1/2 hours.

Hello and thank you for your message. Yes, I say thank you, because thanks to you I can tap your remarks and take the time to respond to you despite this note and these explanations that surprised me. Which perhaps allows me to understand that you surely had the wrong experience. Because there are indeed two running boards to go down at the back, one on the right and the other on the left, with a quite significant width. You can imagine that I will not tell my clients to jump, especially since I have already had people much older than you and who appreciated the experience. For the panoramic views, as explained on the reservation, these are the photo and tasting stops. You have access thanks to the mobility and comfort of the vehicle, the 4x4 Defender Land Rover. We can go to the highest point to have beautiful panoramic points. I don’t see where you lost time? Because you have all had the same experience as all my clients who rated me 5. For trips in the vehicle, there is still one placement whether you are by car or by plane, depending on the seats there is always a difference and preferences and many appreciate the spirit of the defender for these rear seats and in demand again? In any case, I remember your smiles when I took a picture of you with your friends. And also during the exchanges on evolution and data on champagne. Which took place on the first panoramic viewpoint. Where we were lucky to have beautiful sunny spells. It is certain that given the season, we had to adapt to the weather for the second point. Is it in this place that you tasted some not-so-great champagnes? There I understand even less organic champagne with 3 years of cellar three grape varieties zero dosage. So, there I still wonder if it was indeed your group as your message contradicts the feeling you gave me. You might have had to choose another mode of travel and stay on the road rather than enjoy the view and the vineyards, I apologize for you that it was a bad experience. Good luck Christophe

We had an amazing time celebrating Valentine’s Day on this tour! Would highly recommend, the wine/champagne was lovely and christophe was a great tour guide! Even deviated and took us to the old F1 track that was nearby as a little extra for my boyfriend which was lovely of him! The views were amazing and we’d love to go back one day!

A joyful, unique and unforgettable experience

The best experience possible in the Champagne vineyards. Having done several cellar/champagne house tours, this is a wonderful alternative where you get to hop out of the jeep and wander through the vineyards and see the beauty of the landscape. Christophe is a great guide with a fascinating life story and so flexible - he showed us some recommended restaurants in Reims before heading for the hills. He picked the best view for our champagne tasting with local snacks. We spotted black sheep in the vines and he reversed to see them and we had our tasting in their very friendly company. This fun and unique experience is now one of my favourite travel memories.

Beautiful views off the beaten track

Really nice trip out into the vines, with beautiful views and a tasting from the land-rover at the top of a hill! I hadn't realised it was a private tour 😂 so it was just me and Christophe. He also was willing to take my dog for an extra charge, although she ended up snoozing in the hotel room instead. Christophe explained a lot about the vineyards and afterwards was kind enough to drive me through Reims to see the cathedral.

Had an amazing time!! We went through the vines it was absolutely stunning. The drive alone was worth it. Then we got to the top of the hill’s and took pictures/ drank champagne/ and relaxed. Our driver was the nicest guy we have meet in Reims and couldn’t have been more accommodating to our lack of French. Would recommend to anyone. He even took candid picture of us in the vines.

Christophe was fun informative and knew exactly what we wanted. I thoroughly recommend the tour.. the perfect amount of time to see the vineyards up close and taste some local small champagne houses. We didn't realise we would be seeing the resting place of Don Preignon which was amazing to visit.
