This was one of my favourite things to do in NZ. The experience was brilliant from beginning to end. The lake was so scenic, but calm so we as first time kayakers didn’t struggle. Great clear instruction and friendly customer service. Couldn’t it! Thank you for making such special memories for us.

If you are into kayaking this a great experience. Moke lake is surrounded by mountains and on the day that we were there was like glass. After a 30 or 40 minute drive to the lake we were met by McKenzie who assisted us to launch our kayaks and we spent the next 90 minutes on the lake snapping dozens of photos of the amazing scenery. On our return we were treated to hot drinks and muesli bars. A thoroughly enjoyable morning and well worth it.

Thanks so much for your lovely review!
Moke Lake really is such a special spot, especially on those glassy days and it sounds like you timed it perfectly. So glad you enjoyed the paddle and that the hot drinks hit the spot afterwards.
It was great meeting you both, and we really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. Hope to see you back again sometime 😊

Thanks, Katherine, for your lovely review! We’re thrilled to hear that your kayaking experience was one of your highlights in New Zealand – that truly means a lot to us. Moke Lake is such a special place, and we're so glad you felt comfortable and supported out on the water, especially as first-time kayakers.
It was a pleasure having you, and we’re so happy to have been part of creating those special memories. Hope to see you again one day for another adventure!

Stunning views and relaxing. A nice tour without a long car ride. Highly recommend. There's also friendly horses nearby the lake.

Beautiful isolated lake in the middle of the mountains. Get plenty of time to travel across the lake and back. Tour operator is great as well!

We had a double kayak and was able to explore the lake at our own pace and take heaps of photos of different points of views from the different points of the lake.
Mackenzie was friendly and ensured we got into and out of the kayak safely and we were served some chocolate, biscuits and tea or coffee at the end of our kayaking trip.
Response from Host, Dec 2024
Thanks so much for your kind words! I'm glad you enjoyed exploring the lake and managed to get some great photos. It was awesome meeting you, we hope to see you again soon!

Provider never showed up and unable to reach or leave a phone message. When called, the recording said "no one can take your call, call back later".
Response from Host, Mar 2024
Hi,
Thanks for your feedback, please allow me to share some important information to paint the full picture.
“Provider never showed up” – This isn’t technically true. We did show up, at One Mile Creek, since you booked to be picked up at 9am from that location. However, unbeknown to our guide, you had decided to drive yourself to Moke Lake, where there is no cellphone signal to call you. So our Guide was waiting at the pick-up point for 30mins.
When you called the office number, it had gone through to voicemail. Because the “office number” is actually the phone down on the waterfront at our other rentals location. Which by 10am, when you called was turned off because the waterfront had closed early due to poor weather - and all the customers for the day had already been notified.
You were infact emailed, explaining the no-show situation, prior to trying to call us. I personally spoke to you and your partner and offered you a reschedule and several alternatives.
We’re really sorry you missed out on your kayak experience, and we do our best to make the information as clear as possible, it was written down x3 times for you. But sadly sometimes customers make mistakes.

We had a wonderful family time kayaking at Moke Lake on 20Dec2023, after our original booking was canceled and rescheduled due to bad weather the week before. Our children age 11-16 really enjoyed the activity. The lake and surrounding mountains and farm lands were so beautiful like a picture. It was calm , peaceful and at ease. The morning tea was very nice and rewarding after 1.5h kayaking. Everything was well organised. The communication was very thorough. Thank You very much.

Great day. Good equipment and briefing.
Communications regarding pick up was clear.
Good knowledge of bird life and the eco system.
Thank you. John

Really fun kayaking trip with Ben. The drive to the lake was informative Re: scenery and history. The instructions were clear and easy to follow. The paddle time was perfect, as was the biscuits and tea afterwards. We even had a chance to stop to observe some sheep! Really great day - and a nice relaxing activity to do while in Queenstown-Wakatipu!

Pretty, pretty and pretty, we were kayaking inside the picture. Tour operator was so kind, preparing nice chocolate, tea and coffee.

McKenzie was an amazing host, my father experienced the kayaking experience for the first time and it was absolutely mesmerizing. If the weather is good the views are just stunning.
