The tour guide was very good but the city is not as interesting as some others. He tried very hard to give us facts about Newcastle.

Martin guided myself and another lady round Newcastle this afternoon. He’s got a lovely manner, well paced, answered questions and overall very informative. Thanks for sharing Newcastle’s history with us.

3 hours of Newcastle history spanning 2000+ years! We learned about castles, walls, towers, architecture, churches, the cathedral, marketplaces, squares, statues, the River Tyne, 7 bridges, theaters, concert halls, city government, the Romans, the library, all while looping around the city on a sunny afternoon. We parted ways at the Millennium Bridge learning sooo much! Thank you Martin, well done!

The whole tour was memorable. Knowledgeable guide who loved his topic.
Keen to ensure the group had a great experience.

We had one day in Newcastle and wanted to make sure we made the most of it…a walking tour seemed the best way to see the city.
We spent three hours with Martin exploring the history and recent developments in Newcastle, visiting sites such as the wall, Chinatown, Grey Monument, St Andrew’s church, the bridges over the Tyne, old markets, new squares, and of course the castle itself.
Martin even helped us find a couple of places where we wanted to make some purchases, which was very kind of him.
It was a great way to spend three hours.

Simon was a great guide who showed us a broad range of interesting sites, answered our questions well, and provided a rounded history of Newcastle

Martin the tour guide knew his topic thoroughly. All the ‘obscure’ facts were fascinating, particularly regarding the industrial heritage of the area and how that developed and changed the nature of the city to what it is today

Newcastle has fantastic buildings in the city. The tour guide, Martin, was great at passing on his information.

learning so much about Newcastle and its history

My guide Martin Stait was very well-informed, patient and attentive to his guests. He took ample time to explain things in detail. He really knows the history (modern and ancient), architecture and culture of the area. He has a passion for the city. I was severely jet-lagged and he was kind enough to let me dart for tea and as the tour ended, helped me with a cab so that I can get back to my conference without being delayed or exhausted. I would strongly recommend him as a guide. I had a thousand questions about social history and daily life and he was always able to engage, which made the city really come alive. Thank you Martin.

I'm from Newcastle but a historical tour I've always wanted to do 3 hours was perfect. Our guide Martin was superb. We started at Westgate road near the old town walk and ended at quayside. Amazing a must see
Ruth_H, Apr 2026
The tour of the city was very interesting and entertaining, the three hours passed as if in flight. Martin knows his way around and adapts well to his listeners. Really recommendable.

There are so many interesting things to see in Newcastle. That’s why we had booked a guided tour and it was all worth the money.
