We have been there the weekend before Christmas and our son (8 years) really enjoyed the nice explanation about the weaponry in the Castle. The guy that did the tour had great knowledge and made it a wonderfull experience from our end. Many thanks!

The most memorable part of the experience was climbing to the top of the castle keep. The views over Newcastle City and the River Tyne were worth the climb

Attempting to view the historic NEWCASTLE keep and castle without a guide , was one of the most unprofessional experiences I have had.

Really enjoyed our visit to Newcastle Castle. Staff were friendly and we loved learning about the history of the castle and the surrounding area. We were very fortunate that there was a barber surgeon re-enactor in the Great Hall on the day we visited and loved listening to all the gory stories and learning about their role in medieval history. The views from the top of the keep are well worth the effort. We’ll definitely visit again when we are in Newcastle. It represents excellent value for money as you can visit as many times as you want during a year with your annual ticket. If you love history, you’ll love Newcastle Castle!

This was the first time we had visited the Castle and was surprised that it was so cheap! The information provided in every room and in certain windows was very interesting.

The whole visit was really interesting! We spent about 1.5hrs looking round! There was a little tour run by one of the staff members but we just made our own way round! There is plenty to read and plenty to see, the views at the top are incrediblw (even in the rain!!) There are so many steps though, just a warning hehe!

The lovely young student guide who did her best in the pouring rain. The shock of the train line which runs through the site. Really interesting place all round. Shame there’s bits of rubbish lurking around. Plus the audio guide was non existent. The staff member said about getting it on my phone but I didn’t bother. It was a difficult day with the weather but overall it was a good experience to see it.
