Very good tour. The guide spoke excellent English and was very helpful and knowledgeable. She made the experience enjoyable. You really need a guide to explain the farm and its history. A guided tour is a must in my opinion. The tour was so helpful in providing instructions on how to get out to the farm.

Unique experience well worth the detour

Diana_F, Nov 2024
This is such a cool and unique experience. We are foodies and like to cook and couldn’t pass up an experience that explored such an interesting ingredient and staple of Japanese food. The car was 15 acres and is one of the biggest producers of wasabi in Japan/world. The guide was very knowledgeable and guided us through this enormous farm efficiently. We got to see, taste and learn about wasabi. Definitely gave us new insights on Japanese cuisine and culture. We were staying in Nagano. But easily travelled to Akashina via train and went to farm via taxi. Highly recommend to friends and family when they come up this way. Would be a good experience in any weather.

Response from Host, Dec 2024

Thank you so much for your thoughtful review! We are trilled to hear you have such fond memories of the tour and that you enjoyed your lunch with fresh wasabi! It is always a pleasure to answer historical questions and share a bit of the local culture at the same time. We always try to deliver the best we can offer and it is great to know the tour provided both insight and enjoyment. We greatly appreciate the recommendation and we look forward to welcoming you back to Matsumoto someday!

Interesting tour with great guide

Marcella_F, Oct 2024
Tom was a very nice guide, he took us to less known spots in the farm and also translated some of the main information in the farm's museum, which is mostly in Japanese. He was also very open to talk to us about Japanese culture and gave us great tips for our upcoming destinations in Japan, so we highly recommend this tour!

Response from Host, Oct 2024

My tour guide was excellent. It was an informative walk throughout the farm! Wasabi is such an interesting ingredient and the wasabi ice cream at the end was amazing! Thank you for an enjoyable time.

Response from Host, Apr 2023

Very rewarding!

Alexandra_B, Jan 2026
A visit to the wasabi farm is worth it anyway, but this tour made our day even more interesting. Guide Tim could tell us a lot about wasabi and the specific way it is grown here. He also knew a lot about the region. Since we were the only visitors, there was plenty of room to ask the questions. During lunch that was also very nice - Tim taught us about Japanese customs and etiquette. Valuable knowledge for the rest of our journey! We visited the farm in December and that was absolutely fine as far as I was concerned. The weather was good and there were few other visitors so we could look everywhere quietly.

Thank you for the thoughtful review. We’re happy to hear the tour added to your visit and that Tim’s knowledge made the day both enjoyable and informative. It’s great that the quieter season gave you space to explore and ask questions. We hope the rest of your trip in Japan went just as smoothly.

Visite bien documentée de la ferme wasabi

Fabuleuse expérience à la ferme de wasabi

Mathieu_A, Nov 2021

Response from Host, Nov 2021
