As these are wild animals, sightings are not guaranteed, particularly during the mating and harvest seasons in October and November. Next, visit the historic Tamamura Honten brewery (closed Sundays/holidays). Then, explore 1,350-year-old Shibu Onsen with your guide—keep an eye on the rooftops for local monkeys! This tour was made with one simple wish: we want you to feel the real charm of Japan. We’ll meet at Nagano Station, but if you need a different pick-up spot, just let us know — we’re flexible! First, we’ll head to Ganshoin Temple in Obuse, where you can see Hokusai’s amazing ceiling painting, created in his final years. Then we’ll stop by the Hokusai Museum, also in Obuse. It’s a great place to get to know his life and artwork, and the cozy streets around the museum are perfect for a slow, enjoyable walk. To wrap up the day, we’ll visit Pompoko-no-Yu, a hot spring in Nakano City. The area is known as the hometown of composer Shinpei Nakayama.
