    Disappointing main course.

    Arlene_G, Feb 2026
I gave this as a gift for family. Although they had a good time because of the other guests that were present they did not enjoy the food. The duck dish was inedible. Tough to cut let alone eat. For the cost of dinner I would think a different more friendly menu would have been chosen. The wines were excellent thank goodness.

    Súper!

Fun and quirky Montreal food experience

    Greg_B, Oct 2025
Great experience. Chef Rob shares the diversity of Montreal's culture through a culinary experience. I met two very interesting couples, and it was a great time. Highly unique and even quirky, but I like quirky. To address some of the negative comments on Viator, please note that this is a tasting menu, not an all-you-can-eat buffet. The focus is on quality, not quantity. Think tapas portions. Also, the venue may, and probably will, change based on the number of participants. At my tasting, it was me and two other couples, so it was moved to an artist's loft just blocks away from the original location. This was more interesting and intimate. Chef Rob prefers to communicate via WhatsApp, and you get a flurry of messages the day before, finalizing the location and time. Finally, some have mentioned Chef Rob's demeanor. He is very focused, so you need to ask questions if he doesn't introduce himself or explain a food completely. He's very open and very direct. It's all part of the experience. Enjoy it!

Loved the artsy space and the flavors reflecting different communities in Montreal. Definitely something to try for those seeking a more personal dining experience with a passionate chef.

    A real sh@$& show

    Larry_B, Sep 2025
The cost of this event was way too high for the food, wine and overall experience. The food was good not great, My wife and i left hungry and annoyed. The chef was EXTREMELY opinionated, rather unlikable and a very poor communicator. The chef coerced me to pay him directly for the wine ($78.80 for just me) as compared to paying thru Viator. He said Viator will mark it up significantly, so i should just buy the wine through him. He served a Rose’ which i hate and something that he described as a drink for those who hate beer, which i also didnt imbibe. For close to $80, he did not pour my first glass of a nice wine until halfway thru the meal. I was given 2 glasses of wine, one white, one red and a small glass of another white wine. Talk about being taken. The actual meal was good, albeit portions were a little small plus his duck dish was bare, nothing served with it. The balance if the meal, like the Chef, was off. It could have used a star h and a sweet. His final course was a local cheese, which was tasty. With a blackberry and a blackberry sauce; no dessert! The first message i had received provided a meeting place address that was not correct. The venue was on the 4th floor of an older building with no elevator. 2 of the women following the event comments to me outside afterwards how disappointed they were. I have had a few events with Viator and some if my trust has eroded. In closing, towards the end of the meal, the chef mentioned a number of restaurants in Montreal that he would not recommend. Ihad only wished that i had his list prior to his event and that his establishment were on that list!

    Response from Host, Sep 2025

Well, we are sorry you feel that way. However, it is our opinion that your comments are exaggerated, inaccurate, and not in the spirit of hospitality. We can point to proof of this as all the other customers that night left 5 star reviews on both this (look right below and above yours for some) and two other platforms. That is your choice and right - just not one we agree with. We clearly communicated to all diners that we were in a different location due to electrical issues, and we find the performance artist's loft setting, full of beautiful abstract canvases and costume designs, very special. Montreal is mostly old buildings from the 1800s and, as result, there is no elevator. As for portions, the food served was in total 27 ounces of food over 5 courses - that is more than two main courses at most upscale restaurants. We also served you extra portions of 2 dishes so that would be 29-30 ounces. If it is enormous portions you seek, we are glad to recommend some local chains and steakhouses to fit that bill and have no stairs. That said, what you may have mistaken for not filling comes from the fact that our food is very 'clean,' so barely any added fat or butter (a normal restaurant you have 1 stick a person). Last few things: We served a composed cheese course as a dessert to highlight the artisans behind Quebec's incredible farmhouse, raw-milk cheese scene. The duck dish had a thick, homestyle, Thai 'pa naeng' sauce which was a puree from a paste of dozens of vegetables, roots, and herbs. Puree, if you do not know, means the many items in it were combined in one thick sauce. Everything on the menu that you paid for you personally chose how much you paid, what you paid for, and the way in which you paid. Finally, we are pretty sure you are thinking our pricing is in US dollars/USD - a common misperception by many Americans. However, in Canada we do not use US dollars. Rather, we use our own Canadian dollars/CAD. Crucially, the CAD is 38-40% cheaper than the USD due to exchange rates. As for the cost, when converted to CAD, a similar 5-course menus at local Montreal restaurants are 20-35% higher. In a US city, a 5-course tasting (food only) is normally $125-$175USD+ tax - so 40-95% higher than ours. We simply feel the edgy, personal, impassioned style of our dinner is not for you. What we do not get, on an ethical level, is why one human would judge and insult the character of another, who literally (and alone) cooked 10 people 5 courses each plus extras, described their food, served them, cleaned their dishes, replaced their cutlery, and gave expert recommendations generously. It is your right to do so. But we choose to not agree with it. Above all, we wish you a delicious visit to this wonderful city :)

    Mandy_G, Aug 2025
The experience was pretty casual. There was a 5 story walk up which would have been impossible for some guests. The service was not very polished. Server was also eating when not serving. The Chef did not introduce himself. The venue was very fun and energetic- an artist's loft. The food was excellent and well prepared but some courses lacked visual appearance. Guests were often expected to serve their own beverages and then still leave a tip. The server reached across guests to deliver the food. It was a very pleasant experience but the service was definitely lacking.

    Response from Host, Aug 2025

Hi Mandy. We're sorry you felt that way, but everything you mentioned is actually by design, not by mistake. Our dinner is crafted precisely as anti-fine dining in the over-serving/over-manipulating food sense and is what our guests love most. It is a shared table meant to promote community and connection amongst guests, with bistro-style water and purposefully for one early course (which we expressly described as about quantity and sharing) letting guests pour their own drinks during that course for that reason to promote interaction. For all other courses, your wine was poured by the Chef themself. We also described we are anti-tweezer cuisine and prefer simple, natural plating that has not been worked over in an unnatural way. You had wrote you are in the industry, so as you know (and as we said) tips are of course optional. But not leaving them also impacts negatively the livelihood of others. But if you prefer not to tip hardworking staff that is your choice. Again, we're sorry you had those feelings, but they are by design, and not everyone sees things the same way. We would definitely recommend you seek out ultra fine-dining at places like le mousso, toque, or other highly expensive, highly formal environments for what you are seeking, not communal, edgy, personal experiences like ours.

    Montreal meal

    Richard_B, Aug 2025
We purchased this experience primarily for the meal, and the meal did not disappoint. Delicious and accompanied by lovely wines and good conversation. The downfall was the location. First, this was Chef's temporary location, and it was not terribly inviting. It was in a rather unexceptional loft that was a 4 level walk up. This information was not conveyed in advance and could certsinly be a deal breaker. The stairway was steep and very grimy. The meal was so incredible that it overcame the surroundings, so I would still highly recommend this experience.if youre up for a climb.

    Must try

    Yun_C, Aug 2025
Wonderful night with a chef who is also a story teller. ✨ Each course had big flavors and represented a different community. Cozy unique building located in old Montreal!

    It was okay

    April_C, Jul 2025
It's something different to do but the upsell on the backend is a turn off. Water comes with the experience but to add hot tea or wine, it's an additional $32 - $58 per person. However, a different tea/wine is served with each tasting. Please note that you will leave hungry. And you will be asked to be prepared to tip 15-20% before arriving. Which is fine, in theory, but the experience is held in a personal apartment and not a restaurant or food establishment. My husband liked the idea of being in an apartment vs a restaurant. The Chef was knowledgeable and friendly and the dishes were interesting but I would not do it again. My husband really valued the experience and said he's glad we had the opportunity to enjoy the evening with 6 other very cool people.

    Response from Host, Aug 2025

We are sorry you felt that way. If you want to go to a restaurant, though, we suggest you go to a restaurant. We do know tgif n some also include free flow soft drinks. Private kitchens/supper clubs like ours, the whole point is a highly trained Chef cooks every dish personally in a small, private space - in restaurants, 19-24 year old cooks with limited experience (and bad hygiene) do the work and the Chef will not cook, server, or narrate almost anything you eat. Tipping is, of course optional, and the average tip in North America is 20%. Of course, some people and, sounds you are in that camp, prefer to not to tip despite what it means for hard working staff in a low paying job. That is your choice, but it hurts the livelihood of others . We are sorry that is the case here. For us, even if we are not thrilled, we never do anything to hurt staff.

Great experience of food and wine pairings

    Beverly_B, Jun 2025
A great experience for a small group 5 course tasting. Chef Rob was not only a gracious host inviting us into his home, but most importantly an amazing chef. Food and wine pairings were spot on.

    Supper Club with Chef Rob

    Miguel_M, Jun 2025
The experience was like sitting down at a family gathering, but meeting everyone at the table for the first time. The flavors & tasting of exotic dishes that have never touched my palate before. Chef Rob left every one of us wanting more of every plate. Each dish came prepared with decades of worldly culinary history, knowledge, and traditional preparation. I will be recommending this to family, friends, and coworkers, visiting Montreal, and wanting a culinary experience to remember.

A Delightful Meal by Chef Rob

    Juanita_C, Jan 2025
I spent a week in Montreal and the supper club was definitely one of the highlights of my trip. I went solo but there was another person booked on the same evening. Fortunately, she was interesting and lovely to chat with. Chef Rob served 5 courses that were out of this world, and he provided lots of information about the foods, and how they were cooked, etc. I wish I had recorded everything because my memory is not that great, but here is a rough list: Mozzarella & tomatoes with kimchi Beer reduced sauce over pork belly with mango on cucumber slices White asparagus on beetroot yoghurt over a reduced sauce Sliced duck with Thai chili sauce Raw goat cheese with tart berry sauce The meal was absolutely fantastic! My favorite course was the pork belly. I'm a sucker for the crispy skin and that melt in your mouth taste. I decided to go with the no-alcohol option because I didn't want 5 glasses of wine or cider to numb my tastebuds. I'm glad I did that. Chef Rob served 5 different teas to go with the meal. They were good but I would have liked at least one or two mocktails. Not a big deal but the only drawback. However, I did snap a picture of the 2 ciders that were served. I hope they are available by export.
