Had a great morning exploring downtown Maputo with Nelton, who was very informative and personable. I learned not only about what sites we visited but how they relate both to Mozambican history and current society. We were even able to add a couple stops at the train museum and a nearby gallery because I had interest.

I was stuck in traffic for approximately 45 minutes due to road closures for Armed Forces Day, and Edilson and Nelton were so understanding and accommodating.
My tour guide for the day, Nelton, was fantastic and super-knowledgeable about the buildings and history of colonial and post-colonial Mozambique. The tour was super-interactive and Nelton was a great translator for me at the city market, for example.
I had the opportunity to sample local delicacies: fresh coconut, soursop, monkey orange, sugarcane juice, and tamarind.
I would highly recommend this tour to anyone - it was the highlight of my trip to Mozambique!

Edilson was an amazing tour guide! He had so much information and was willing to answer any of our questions. Maputo is beautiful and we saw many of the must-see attractions, including (but not limited to) the train station, Independence Square with the large statue of Samora Machel, the Fortress of Maputo, the Catedral de Maputo, and the Central Market of Maputo where we were given the opportunity to taste various fruits. We were also given the opportunity to purchase souvenirs at a shop in the Casa de Ferro. I would definitely recommend!

A Praça da Independência é imponente e a Catedral em estilo art-nouveau é simples e bonita. O Mercado Central interessantíssimo precisa de limpeza e manutenção urgente!! assim como as ruas e calçadas. Há prédios históricos em estado lamentável. A Fortaleza, o prédio dos Correios e o Instituto Guimarães Roda (Brasil-Moz) estão bem cuidados. O Parque Tunduru e a FeiMa valem a visita!
