Itinerary

Pack a flashlight and comfortable shoes, then meet a driver at your accommodations in Kuching City for the hour-long trip to the caves, 28 miles (45 km) into the Sarawak countryside. You’ll pass farm fields, plantations, and small communities along the way to Bau town, which is home to the indigenous Bidayuh tribe.

The first stop of the day is Fairy Caves, or Gua Kapor, on the slopes of Mount Kapur. This is an important destination for local Buddhists and Taoists, and you’ll have sweeping views of the valley, forest, and fields from the cave entrance, reached by 100 concrete steps.

After exploring Fairy Caves, continue to Wind Caves, or Gua Angin, a series of three tunnel caves that are habitat for insect-eating bats and birds, who build their nests inside the cave. Watch for plants and animals at the edge of the walkway, and see the limestone stalactites and stalagmites that have been formed by dripping water over thousands of years.

This 4-hour tour concludes with return transfer to Kuching city, and drop-off at your accommodations.
