You can see the orangutans but it feels only semi-wild as they are called in each day. They are also quite far away.

Our first look at orangutans and being so close.
Please keep protecting the orangutans, they’re such intelligent beings.

We were so lucky to see so many Orangutans… it can be a hit or a miss.
Kuching is a beautiful city and I recommend a visit to this park while you are there

Dear Sir/Madam,
The objective of the center is rescue - rehabilitate - release. This are the primary focus of the Rangers assign at Semenggoh Center. Although the Orangutans are release back to the adjoining protected forest reserve, they regularly come to feeding platform when fruit buffet is serve.
We are happy you have enjoyed your stay with us , may we recommend visiting Sepilok Orangutan Sanctuary in Sandakan , Sabah on your next visit to Borneo. I Sandakan you will also be able to visit the Sen Bear Conservation Center & Labuk Bay Proboscis Monkey Sanctuary.
Thank you,
Edwin

From the minute Rick picked us up to the second he returned us to our hotel, he was a mind of information. History of Sarawak, places to see, I do about places we passed and then semenggoh it's self, telling us all about the park the different orang utans. We had the most amazing experience of seeing 2 in 2 different areas. The main area where we watched ganya playing in the trees and the ropes on the way to the feeding area. Finally Anuar the 2nd alpha male came down just as we were leaving . Worth a life time of memories.

Dear Sir / madam ,
Good Day
Thank you for visiting Semenggoh Orangutan Center. It is through your visit that the center is able to maintain but most of all set a bench mark to rehabilitate orphan ,rescue, re-located OrangUtans. Since the 1980's the center with it's Rangers has dedicated their time to succeed in rehabilitating Orangutans and returning them to the forest. Many still return for the fruit buffet during feeding time , but has learn to adapt back to their natural habitat.
Please on your next visit to Borneo , visit Sabah , Sandakan Sepilok Orangutan Sanctuary , Sunbear Conservation Center , Labuk Bay Proboscis Monkey Sanctuary and Kinabatangan Wildlife Cruise.
From all of us at Magunatip Holidays
Terima Kasih

Prior the the tour, I was given clear communications via whatsapp from the organiser (Edwin) in to know what to expect in terms of tour joining instructions. This efficiency was much appreciated. We were picked up from our hotel by our guide (Antoni) exactly on time and driven to the centre, with interesting information on the background of the centre and Kuching itself given to us along the way by Antoni. We were given clear instructions on what to expect from the morning and how to behave (e.g. to not make noise to disturb the orang utans). At the centre we were driven up to the feeding centre in electric buggies, saving a long hot walk and ensuring we got there in time for the morning feeding session which maximised our chances of seeing the orang utans. Antoni accompanied us throughout the tour, and the park rangers were also very much present at the centre itself. Whilst it cannot be guaranteed that orang utans will be seen on any particular occasion, we were lucky enough to see 6 in total, in 2 feeding locations. All in all it was a successful and enjoyable trip.

Dear Sir/Madam ,
Good Day
At times we do encounter lesser Orangutans at the Center. Although it is a disappointment for some but i ensure you this is a good indication. The Rangers has successfully rehabilitated this species into adapting back to their natural environment. Your continues support goes a long way for the Orangutans. Please visit us again and on your next trip visit Sepilok Orangutan Sanctuary in Sandakan , Sabah.

We had a wonderful time visiting the orangutan center. We saw a number of orangutans, including two families with their babies. It was a sight we will never forget. Our guide David was very courteous and helpful and gallantly brought our car to us when it started pouring rain. After all, we were in the rain forest. Highly recommended, but be sure to protect yourself from the mosquitoes.

GREAT morning trip. You should book the 8.00 departure to see the feeding at 9.00, we saw 4 orangutans, that's very lucky there were no sightings the previous day. It's a chance you take looking for wild animals.

Great half day tour. We took the morning tour, which gets you to the feeding platform at Semenggoh in plenty of time for the 9:00 AM morning feeding. The Centre only allows a one hour visit during the feeding, so we really appreciated that the tour picked us up at our Kuching hotel on time. Our guide David was professional, friendly and spoke great English. We were so lucky that this day we saw eleven orangutans, including all three alpha flange males that reside at Semenggoh, several moms with babies and adolescents doing their acrobatics. In fact, one of the alpha males was sitting in a tree in the parking lot watching the action, got great photos! There are two feeding areas at Sememggoh, and we saw orangutans at both platforms. The gift shop has a wonderful information board about the individual orangutans who reside at the Centre. The orangutans are semi-wild and are free to come and go as they see fit. It was a not-to-be-missed experience. Visited on March 12, 2017.

To our surprise, we were picked up by a Sarawak Forestry licensed park guide for our tour to the Semenggoh Orangutan Wildlife centre.
Picked up on time from our resort, we were taken directly to the park to be on time for the morning feeding session.
Whilst waiting for the rest of the crowd to arrive, we were treated to a visit by a mother and youngster in the trees above. After a quick briefing, we walked about 200 metre into the rainforest to a specially made viewing platform, where were graced by the presence of the Richie, the Alpha Male of the Semenggoh park. He kept us entertained for about 40 minutes and then he left and some younger Orangs came down to feed.
After returning to the meeting point, we were then shown the croc enclosure and also the education centre where more details can be learnt about the Park and its Orang families Also the history of rehabilitation and now care and maintenance of the population of Orangs is detailed on wall posters.
Our guide showed us some of the flora, such as the pitcher plants growing in the area.
As the tour was only a half day, our guide was kind enough to alter our tour by dropping us off in Kuching Chinatown for the afternoon. Here, our guide showed us the best eating spots, coffee shops, and shopping malls. We made our own way back to our hotel.
Worth doing?
Yes! If you want to see wild and semi wild Orangutans in their natural habitat
Not if you want up close and a touchy-feely experience with baby orangs
Thank you Lim Ann Kok Our Guide and all others for a memorable experience!

Really expensive to sit in jungle and see nothing- 136 pounds for 2 people!. I do understand there are no guarantees but no option to go again. Our party was full of children and people who kept talking making noise so reduced chances significantly to see Orangutans. I hope that most of the money goes to the centre where they can spend on conservation.
Our driver guide David was very nice and showed us some videos from a couple of days before.

Très bien organisé ,un moment inoubliable de rencontre avec les orangs outans.
Il faut vraiment s'organiser pour être la au moment ou ils leur donnent à manger .
