Nice and Relaxing

Sandra_D, Nov 2025
This tour was nice. Kotor is beautiful, and it was a good way to get a relaxing tour. However, we would have taken a boat day on this port. Kotor just didn't have enough.

Getting to know Kotor

Barbara_Z, Nov 2025
The city is lovely and there is a beautiful drive around the bay. Our guide was knowledgeable and pleasant.

Barry_S, Nov 2025
We had problems getting off the ship due to tender issues, so we were grateful that the operator waited for us. We were driven to Perlast and dropped off for an hour. We were next taken to a scenic view point above the bay. We were then dropped off at Old Town to end the excursion. Even though we were late, we feel that the amount charged for this excursion was a very poor value for the money.

Response from Host, Nov 2025

Dear Mr. Barry, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. I completely understand your frustration with the tender delays. That can be stressful, especially when you’re eager to explore beautiful Montenegro, but that wasn't our fault. We waited extra two hours because we never want anyone left behind and we wanted you to experience at least a glimpse of what our bay and old towns have to offer. While the shortened schedule due to the ship’s delay understandably affected the overall value, I hope you enjoyed the highlights of Perast, our breathtaking viewpoint above the Bay of Kotor, and the charm of the Old Town.

We enjoyed the stops and the beautiful scenery of Montenegro. Our tour guide was on the quiet side and was informative when asked. I felt like he could have offered more on the history. If you take this your, maybe ask for more information/questions

Beautiful Montenegro.

Great tour with lots of history. Adjusted to our limited abilities. Very comfortable vehicle. Good time.

Not what we expected

Jay_G, Oct 2025
Where do I begin. We met up with our tour at the designated pickup spot. The biggest issue we encountered, was at the very beginning. There were 8 people in our group. The minivan was built for 7 passengers. To do this tour, we needed to enter into this 7 passenger minivan. With four people in the back row, sitting on each other’s lap, we began the tour. There was a big safety concern in the event of an accident. Our driver was very nice and polite. He started off stating, “ I’m just a driver, not a tour guide.” The driver did provide some general information along our journey, pointing out “5 star resorts”, the age of some buildings, a little info on his home town, and our 1st stop. Our 1st stop was the “lady of the rock”. A little island only reachable by a short boat ride. The boat ride was optional. The advertised price in the tour description was 10 euros PP for the boat ride. We were taken to a “friends boat”, and charged 15 euros pp. Some friend. We were told this was a discounted price. On the pier, you could hire a boat for 10 euros. We get to the rock (island), there is another 3 euros to get into the cathedral. This was not advertised. None of the above was an issue, just a surprise. The lady of the rock was very nice to see. The views were also very beautiful from the rock. Back into the undersized van. Next we stopped in tivat, which wasn’t on our itinerary. We were told to walk around and be back in 1.5 hours. The stop was in a marina, with shops and restaurants. We asked about Budva. We were told we were not going to Budva, which was part of our itinerary. Next we squeezed back into the van. We traveled to a ferry. While on the ferry, we asked to get out of the van, and we were told the ferry ride is approximately 5 mins. “Please stay in the van.” Remember, we’re not very comfortable in the back seat. Once across the water, we drove around a scenic roadway for approximately 15 mins. We had a 5 minute stop to take pictures. Very nice views of the bay. Back in the minivan, we headed back to the port, and dropped off. Our expectations were definitely not met on this tour. Fortunately, we had a very nice group of people on this tour, and we made the best of our situation. I did reach out to Royal Services during our tour to express the above. The replay is below. “Thanks for asking and I completely understand your concerns. There are heavy road and construction works between Kotor and Budva, that’s why it’s not possible to go to Budva and to guarantee back on time (there are long delays most of the time, and usually cruise passengers are informed about this on the ship). You will go to Trojica viewpoint after Tivat. Our 8+1 seater broke down last night so this was the best we could do. I apologize for that to everyone in the group.”

Extremely Disappointing and Misleading Tour

Sunny_P, Oct 2025
I booked this tour expecting to visit Perast, Budva, and Kotor Old Town as clearly stated in the itinerary. However, our guide M completely changed the plan without asking for our (we had total of 4 guests) opinion. Since it was our first time in Montenegro, we didn’t even realize the itinerary had been altered until later. Instead of taking us to the beautiful Kotor Old Town, he replaced it with a stop at a modern marina (Port Montenegro) — which was not at all what we came to see. The marina was very boring compared to the historic coastal towns we had looked forward to exploring. Throughout the tour, the guide provided very little information or guidance. He would simply drop us off, tell us to buy extra tickets (like the boat ride), and then disappear, asking us to meet him again an hour later. There was no storytelling, no local insight, and no engagement — just basic transportation from one place to another. Overall, this tour was not worth the price and felt like false advertising. It completely failed to deliver what was promised. I would not recommend this tour to anyone who actually wants to experience Montenegro’s traditional charm and culture.

Response from Host, Oct 2025

Hello Sunny, Thanks for your review. Our tours for cruise passengers in Kotor start and finish at Kotor Old Town, near the main gate. We are not licensed guides but we provide all the relevant information about places that we visit along the way. You were on tour with Miroslav, who is one of our best drivers, and you insisted to be dropped off at Kotor Cable Car instead of Kotor Old Town at the end of the tour. There are heavy road and construction works between Kotor and Budva, that's why it's not possible to go to Budva and to guarantee back on time this year (there are long delays most of the time, and usually cruise passengers are informed about this on the ship). That's why we compensate Budva with: Tivat, Risan and ferry across Kotor Bay.

Our cruise ship canceled...

Nancy_S, Oct 2025
Our cruise ship canceled our stop due to unsafe weather conditions for tender boats. We called as soon as it was announced on the ship. We were given a partial refund.

Response from Host, Oct 2025

75% refund for last minute cancellation: We truly regret your cruise’s last-minute cancellation; however, as significant operational expenses and payments to our subcontractors have already been incurred, we authorized a 75% refund. This ensures fair compensation while maintaining our contractual obligations and sustainability. Also, I'm not sure why your cruise ship cancelled the arrival in Kotor because the other two cruise ships scheduled for that day, also using tenders, have arrived (Costa Deliziosa and Viking Star). You should also ask your cruise line for at least 25% partial refund. Kind regards, Andro, Manager Royal Services Montenegro

Amazing personalized experience

Tammy_K, Oct 2025
Excellent directions, very responsive. The personalized experience was amazing. Our driver was Excellent!

A great way for cruise passengers to see the stunning sights around Kotor

Geoff_P, Oct 2025
This was a very good personal tour of the area surrounding Kotor which was well timed and with plenty of opportunity for photographing the outstanding buildings and scenic beauty. Slobodian was a very personable and informative host who made sure we saw the key sights at a pace that suited us.

Lovely tour of Kotor

Laura_E, Oct 2025
A great tour seeing the beautiful landscape of Kotor. Nice visit to the quaint town of Perast and then free time in the old city. Very enjoyable tour with our lovely guide Bojana. My only criticism was of the instructions given regarding the meeting place. Be prepared to walk about a mile to start the tour in order to board the transportation.

Amazing tour

Karen_N, Oct 2025
Communication was wonderful. Every question I had was answered promptly. They were waiting for us when we arrived. Took the bus to Budva. Scenery was amazing. Town shops and food delicious. Then we went to Old town of Bar again another stunning town. We had a delicious Greek lunch. . On the way back to the ship we stopped at the 2500 plus year old Olive Tree. Our guide was so informative and a joy to listen to. The tour company went above and beyond when I realized I had left my souvenirs on the tour bus. They retrieved it and had it delivered to our cruise ship. I highly recommend this tour and company

Wonderful

Pamela_K, Sep 2025
Petar was a great tour guide who took us to a number of really nice places. It was my favorite tour of the entire vacation.

One way to see Kotor

Bill_M, Sep 2025
We were a group of eight adults travelling in a mini bus which was quite cramped and in the hot weather at times uncomfortable till air conditioning kicked in. We were of the opinion it would be a larger bus but that didn’t happen. The driver/guide takes you to location gives you some info/instructions and you navigate the rest yourself and meet up at designated time later.

Worth doing

Sandi_R, Sep 2025
Excellent tour experience . Guide was very professional and we felt we gained a really good understanding of the history of the city

1237903485 Kotor- shore excursion on Sept 22

Mary_L, Sep 2025
This was extremely disappointing, we were given poor directions from the very beginning. Also this was to be a semi private tour and when I originally inquired I was told 6-8 passengers. We ended up with 18!!!! In addition, we had to walk a mile to the passenger vehicle, I had 3 people in my group that could not walk that length. The guide tried her best but she was not informative at all, her English was poor! This tour was a waste of time and I’m furious that we were charged this cost. You need to make this right in some way, I thought Viator was a good company to deal with but I doubt we will ever use you again.

Wonderful day

Guide was amazing. Very knowledgeable, interesting and had an enjoyable sense of humor. Totally recommend the entire package.

It was a very enjoyable tour. We had a problem and the ship was late to arrive, and getting off the ship was also difficult. The guide/driver. Was in contact with us the whole time and reassured us that he would wait and that everything would be fine, and it was. The driver spoke really good English, guided well A very professional local. We had a great time.

Great Tour Guide in Kotor Montenegro

Robert_C, Sep 2025
Traveled into Kotor on NCL, which required a tender boat to get into port. Tender process took too long and my wife and I were late string to tour. Guide, Peter Maljevic, kept in contact communication and came back to pick us up when we arrived into port. Peter was a great guide and made the excursion enjoyable in light of our morning tender woes.

Peter gave us an excellent tour. He was very good. Considerate of everyone. Made sure we returned before our cruise ended.

An unguided tour.

Donna_S, Aug 2025
Driver gave a little bit of history, basically dropped us off at different spots to wander on our own. At the end he quickly dropped us off in Old Town, which was supposed to be included. So not really a guided tour.

Cramped transportation.

David_B, Aug 2025
Wife and I were jammed into a small car with 3 other people. Rushed walk through Perast to meet back with guide. Peter seemed like a good guy but his canned speech had little to do with what we were driving by.

Response from Host, Aug 2025

Thank you for your feedback. I owe you a sincere apology for the overcrowded car. This was entirely my mistake. Both of my cell phones were stolen the night before your tour, and in the confusion I miscalculated the number of guests, expecting four instead of five. Still, it was 7-seater VW Touran. I realize this affected your comfort, and I truly regret the inconvenience caused. Sincerely, Andro, Manager Royal Services Montenegro

Montenegro a hidden gem

Stephen_C, Aug 2025
The scenery was amazing and our guide Eric was very informative and extremely proud of his country. The first stop was Perast and a boat trip to Our Lady on the Rocks which was idyllic. A replacement stop at Tivat, a port was also very peaceful, however the highlight was going down the serpentine road behind Kotor the views were spectacular through the valley and we were dropped off by the Old Town. I would thoroughly recommend this excursion.

Guided Tour of Kotor

Nancy_R, Aug 2025
Our shore excursion for cruise passengers turned out to be one of the best guided tours we have ever taken in our many years of travel. Eric, our driver was fabulous. He met us right outside the port; we were quickly on our way. During the drive to Perast, Eric gave us a bit of history of Kotor, Montenegro , and and how the rulers had changed over the centuries. At Perast, a 5 minute ferry ride took us to a small island with Our Lady of the Rocks Church. Back in Perast we were able to explore the city, stop into other churches, admire the architecture, and have gelato. Eric returned for us after 90 minutes. We then set off for Lustica. A beautiful modern development is set into the mountains. A very lovely beach beckons you forward. We spent a pleasant time with Eric at a small bistro overlooking the water. Our next stop was high in the mountains overlooking the city of Kotor. It was picture perfect, offering a panoramic view of the bay, our ship, and the city below. Our last stop was Old Town Kotor where Eric dropped us in front of the gate to enter the city with instructions on how to find the cathedral and the byzantine churches. Eric was a wonderful guide and excellent driver. He is a wealth of information and a great teacher. He was kind and patient with us, giving us tips about our visit and suggestions for a typical lunch in Montenegro. When we return to Kotor, we will certainly ask for Eric to be our host.

An unforgettable, thoughtful tour of Kotor Bay

Elizabeth_N, Jul 2025
Absolutely incredible experience on our guided tour of Kotor Bay! Our guide was exceptionally knowledgeable, sharing the rich and fascinating history of the country in a way that truly brought it to life. From the moment we booked, communication was smooth and professional, setting the tone for a seamless and enjoyable day. He thoughtfully curated the experience, even taking us to a fantastic local restaurant for lunch that we never would have found on our own. When the weather took a turn and it started to rain, he went above and beyond—dropping us closer to our destination and even gifting us an umbrella. That kind of care and attention to detail really stood out. Highly recommended—this tour was not just informative, but also warm, personal, and truly memorable.
