    First impressions of Rwanda

    jonathanpignatiello, Jul 2026
My Coffee Experience in Rwanda tour was truly unforgettable! From start to finish, it was informative, authentic, and gave me a deep appreciation for Rwanda's coffee culture and the people behind it. What I loved most was that it never felt touristy. Instead, you get to experience everyday life in Rwanda and connect with the local community in a genuine way. The hosts were incredibly warm and welcoming, making the entire experience feel personal and memorable. A huge thank you to Bono, who was absolutely amazing! His knowledge, passion, and friendly personality made the tour even more special. He answered every question, shared fascinating insights, and made everyone feel at home. His enthusiasm for Rwanda and its coffee is truly contagious. Transportation from Kigali was smooth, comfortable, and right on time, making the day completely stress-free. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Rwanda. It's a fantastic way to experience the country beyond the usual tourist attractions while learning about the journey from bean to cup. Thank you, Bono, and the entire team for such an incredible experience!

    What a wonderful day!

This tour exceeded my expectations by far. I was pleasantly surprised by the lack of the transactional element in the experience, these people were real and authentic which is a rare encounter in our days. Starting from Bona our tour guide who was kind, knowledgeable and accommodating, but also genuine, and then off to the heroic women of the coffee cooperativa who were so natural and uninhibited with us throughout the entire day. This wasn't just a coffee tour but also a cultural one. In summary we spent the day with this lovely group of local ladies and Bona where we learnt about the coffee making experience, from planting to growing and picking the coffee flower to then move to the stage of peeling off, baking and finally grinding. There was no advanced machinery involved, just simple tools and a lot of expertise and care throughout the process. We finished the tour with a delicious homemade lunch and the coffee we had just made from the beans we had picked from the coffee trees in the farm earlier. Thank you for making this an unforgettable experience for us and one of the top highlights of our trip to Rwanda!

It is a must in Rwanda

The organization was excellent. We were picked up from our apartment and brought to Azizi, where we could grab a coffee with some pastry and buy items from the local artisans. We had some introduction and then departed to the village, to the small farmers' cooperative where we were warmly welcomed by our hosts, who showed us around, provided an insight into their life, and asked us even more about ours, so be ready to tell about yourself and the place you live! Together we were picking berries, peeling, grinding and roasting, having a lot of fun, dancing and singing, it was a very joyous day! What i wanted from this experience is to understand the whole process of how the coffee I drink almost every day is being harvested and transformed into roasted beans. And it's completely done. What I wasn't expecting is such a fun of talking to these women. I'm really grateful to have an insight about how their life looks like and appreciate it. Special thanks to the guide and the driver, who answered our questions and helped to find a beverage we were looking for in a local shop! I really appreciate it.
