Great Block Printing Experience

Dheeraj was a great guide and very knowledgeable about the block printing process, which we observed in action before getting a chance to try for myself. There were lots of blocks/patterns to choose from and help and support when printing. I was very pleased with the experience. Dheeraj was even kind enough to spot I had a button missing on my sleeve and found one to match :-) This kind of thoughtfulness makes all the difference.

Very good experience. We did it with our kids and they loved it. We can choose through range of different elements (table clothes to apron or scarf). We really appreciated it. The team explained and helped us to print. We recommend this activity if you are in Jaipur. And then you can bring home your own DIY hand block painting!

Learning to block print...

Learning to block print was so much fun! Monty and his team were really knowledgeable and really let us go wild with the patterns we wanted to use. You also have the opportunity to shop in the warehouse's storeroom after the experience which is nice. But I wouldn't recommend going too crazy there as there are other more affordable options in Jaipur.

Block Printing....

Block Printing. This was so much fun! Our guide was informative and friendly. He gave us a full history of hand block printing and its importance in Jaipur. Then we got a tour of the workshop where people were busy hand block printing beautiful patterns. And then, finally, we got to practice hand block printing ourselves. I worked on a scarf, and my partner did an apron. There was a team of people around who were very helpful and supportive. I got to do my own thing, but if I had a question, there was always someone nearby to help. When we were finished, the cloth had to go through a chemical process and washing, so we hung out in the front office where we could shop for clothing. We were given tea, and when our scarves and aprons were ready, we hit the road. It was such a fun activity. Everyone had a good time, and I love that we got to take home something to remind us of our time in Jaipur.

The best paint blocking class with the best guide and kindest paint block workers! This class was a full immersion of paint blocking and was the most wonderful experience. The whole family (young adult/ adult) enjoyed (and even dad!) If you’re thinking of doing a tour/class, this one is it! Seriously, don’t miss it!!

We thoroughly enjoyed this class. Our group of six all found it to be a very enjoyable experience, and it is one of our favorite memories from our trip. Monty is very knowledgeable about the history of the craft. We toured the facility and learned about the process. Then his team showed us how to create our very own block printed scarves. The length of the class was perfect. I would love to do it again in the future. Highly recommended!

Monty was personable, communicative, thorough and overall a gentleman. He has travelled extensively and you can see that he is trying to bring the best of Jaipur to visitors who have a short time in his city, and succeeds. The tour of the factory was so interesting - it takes maybe 25 minutes and then you spend another 25 making the product. You spend the remainder waiting for the scarf to dry but in all honesty it’s time well spent. Hands down worth the money. Just for information - it’s always a scarf that you design and there are no options on colours. The only option you make is on the type of block you want to use to make the pattern itself, ranging from way to difficult. It might be nice if guests could perhaps choose the colours for themselves but overall it doesn’t take from the experience. We were looking for something that both created an authentic experience of India and Jaipur and allowed us to appreciate the real skill of handmade products and this both met and exceeded those expectations. Loved it.
