We are incredibly happy with our experience on the Ha Giang Loop 3D2N Private Car Tour! From the very beginning, we felt genuinely welcomed and taken care of. We arrived by bus at 5 in the morning, and they kindly welcomed us, gave us the opportunity to rest and sleep, have breakfast, and take our time before starting the tour. Throughout the entire experience, we felt that they genuinely cared about our wellbeing.
We were especially lucky because it was just the two of us and our wonderful guide, Hùng Đình, which made the experience feel very personal and flexible. He always stopped whenever we wanted, and we could decide ourselves how much time we wanted to spend at each place. We took lots of photos, and he was also happy to take pictures of us and send them to us afterwards. He regularly checked in and asked if we were okay, and he was wonderful to talk to. Whenever we had questions about the places, history, or local culture, he was happy to answer and share his knowledge.
Along the way, we saw goats, children climbing trees, old ruins from the French colonial period, and historical sites connected to the region’s history. We also saw local communities along the roads and learned so much about the area. Coming from Norway and Scandinavia, where life and culture can feel so different, this was a real culture shock in the best and most eye opening way possible.
One thing that really stood out to us was Hùng Đình’s empathy and values. We were surprised to see how many children were trying to earn money by selling things or offering services to tourists. Our guide kindly explained why it is better not to give money directly to children, as it can encourage them to work instead of going to school. You could tell that he genuinely cared about the local community.
We also felt very safe with him as a driver. Traffic in Vietnam can feel quite intense and intimidating for us as visitors, but he drove calmly, patiently, and carefully. When there were children near the road, he slowed down instead of driving aggressively. Small things like that showed us what kind of person he is. He seemed to care deeply about the people, animals, and environment around him. He was mindful about not wasting food and not leaving rubbish in nature, greeted local people along the way, and treated everyone with kindness and respect.
The accommodation was also a lovely part of the experience. We really liked the first two hotels and found them comfortable and beautiful. The last place had an open window in the bathroom, which made us a little nervous about insects coming in at night. However, we simply kept the bathroom door closed and used the mosquito net over the bed, so it was completely manageable. We still appreciated the experience and felt well looked after throughout the trip.
At first, we thought it was a little unusual that Hùng Đình ate at a table next to us instead of joining us for meals, but then we realized that he simply wanted to give us space to relax and enjoy our holiday. Later in the tour, we even got to eat together, which was lovely.
Overall, everything was absolutely top notch. Hùng Đình had such a kind heart and genuinely good values, and that made the whole experience even more meaningful. We did not just see beautiful places, we felt that we experienced the culture through someone who truly cares about the country and the people who live there.
We loved this experience and would absolutely love to come back in the future and do another tour with the same guide. Thank you, Hùng Đình, for such a memorable, beautiful, and eye opening experience. We will never forget it! 🧡

We were not sure about doing Ha Giang Loop by car, but definitely was the best decision for us. It was confortable all trip long, totally secure and the guide was kind and helped us with everything. He rided like a profesional and make us confortable all time. The homestays were also very good, well located, clean and with all what we needed. We really recomend it!!!
We really enjoyed doing the loop by car! We followed almost the same itinerary as the motorbikes, and the car was very comfortable, especially for our baby. Furthermore Opi is a great guide, and by sitting together in the car all day we learned a lot about the local cultures:)
Bon is a very experienced guide and driver. His command of English is excellent. He is highly estimated among his colleagues. We learned so many interesting things about the area and Vietnam from him. And he was extremely friendly, helpful, patient and flexible and knew exactly where to stop to get the best pictures. We would recommend this tour, and the tour operator, Opi Adventure, Co. Ltd.

This is such an amazing tour. I would say the Ha Giang loop it’s a must if visiting Vietnam. Having a private car with such a great English speaking host (thank you Hung) really elevated the experience. All the accommodation and food were included and the homestay booked for the second night was amazing.
We experienced the Ha Giang loop over 3 days and 2 nights by car and it was spectacular.
The route took us through mountains with the most unbelievable scenery, villages with the colourful H’Mong tribe, we swam in a waterfall but the highlight for me was trekking for 5-6 km along the mountains and valley and watching the people working in the rice fields and small farms.
We have to give a special mention to our tour guide Steve, he took great care of us, & was from the area so had a great knowledge of the history and culture, he helped make the experience great fun.
Our driver Thuan, was careful and competent & his large jeep/ minivan was a luxury to travel in.
I can’t recommend this trip enough the homestay is great fun and you get to meet the family and their way of life.
We had a great driver who kept us safe and was knowledgeable about the area. The scenery was magnificent and we loved the opportunity to see the various ethnic groups and to try all kinds of food. This is a unique part of the world and worth a few days of anyone’s time.

We booked the trip because of the very good reviews. Unfortunately, not all expectations, as stated in the reviews, were met after all. Unfortunately, our guide could not speak English very well. Also, the knowledge about the culture, the ethnic groups, and the country was very, very limited and barely existed. Thanks to the internet and a guidebook, we read up on the information ourselves. In some cases, we were even told incorrect information. On the first day, we were just dropped off at the respective points/stations, and we were told absolutely nothing. After we complained about this to the guide, he tried to say more, but as I said, without the knowledge, you cannot tell anything, so it all becomes very difficult. That is why we cannot understand all the reviews / 5 stars. The hotel on the first day was already very borderline; they probably had water problems, as only slightly brown water came out of the tap. Also, structurally, it was already very worn down.
So, now for the positive: there were also really nice things, which would be the detour on the 1st. Day with a view of the Chinese border, on the second day the hike/walk on the skywalk, and the food was really extremely delicious everywhere. The second accommodation / homestay was also great, the food in the evening was amazing, really very delicious. The guide helped cook a little bit. The next morning, we were at the market in the morning before breakfast, very nice. The last day was then again rather nothing. We could not drive to the hemp weaving mill because the road was closed... we were then in Ha Giang around 12 o'clock after 3 stops for photography. The guide then organized a detour to a river at our request, which was very nice. But swimming is just not getting to know the culture and the country. And that was unfortunately really missing on the trip.
