Disappointing tour. We chose this excursion mainly for the Ihlara Valley, but the itinerary was changed without proper explanation. The 2-hour hike advertised turned into just a few minutes.
We decided to leave the tour early, without making any fuss.
However, the guide’s attitude was disappointing: when he later saw us hitchhiking, he simply flashed his lights and drove past without stopping. Not very professional.
That’s why we’re giving this low rating.

On the morning of the tour, you informed our guide that you wished to use the tour primarily as transportation and that you preferred to leave the group early. Since your booking was the package version that excluded museum entrance tickets and lunch, your request was accommodated exactly as you asked.
Both our operations team and your guide reached out to you during and after the tour to confirm that everything was in order. At that time, you confirmed, in writing, that you were satisfied and that your decision to leave the group early was entirely your own. These communications are on record.
Regarding the Ihlara Valley hike: the duration of the walking portion is determined by each group's pace and the guide's assessment on the day, as described in our tour information. Guests who wish to complete the full-length hike always have the option to do so with the group.
We take every piece of guest feedback seriously and always aim to provide clear information and professional service. We are glad we were able to accommodate your modified request on the day, and we wish you safe travels.

We really enjoyed the tour, even though the weather wasn’t the best. Our guide, Ferman, was very friendly and answered many of our questions—he was definitely more knowledgeable than previous tour guides we’ve had. The tour covered many spots but still felt well-paced, which made it much more enjoyable, as we had enough time at each stop. Lastly, the van was newer and more comfortable than many others we’ve experienced.

Our driver Bilal was very accommodating and respectful of our time. He communicated thru his phone to tell us that there will be a 5 minute delay because he needed gas the van.
Our tour guide Hakan was very knowledgeable and was very enthusiastic when telling us all of Turkey’s history. He made it so interesting for all of us and just grateful that we had such a great tour guide.

Matt our tour guide was very knowledgeable and took time to explain things to us. He also set a pace that was ideal for everyone on the trip. At the end of the trip we were taken to shop where they have precious stones. It ended up costing a bit. I would prefer they stick to showing us the sites and not sell us things.

We really enjoyed our Green Tour experience. Our guide Mileh was very friendly and knowledgable and the couch was comfortable and water bottles were provided, which was great as there was a lot of driving! Our group was small (6 people) but this was great as we could all hear what Mileh was saying and could ask questions freely. There were plenty of opportunities to take incredible photos of the scenery and the caves and we loved seeing the old religious ruins while hearing the stories attached to them. Lunch was delicious (there were options of meatballs or chicken with soup and salad) and we then walked around a beautiful canyon which had a cafe stop in the middle for water, juice or other refreshments. Would absolutely recommend if you want a thorough insight into the history of Cappadocia.

Review of Cappadocia Green Tour – July 1st, 2025
The Green Tour in Cappadocia is definitely worth doing—it offers a different side of the region, with lush scenery and remarkable historical sites. The highlight for me was the Kaymakli Underground City, which is far more impressive and better preserved than the one we visited on the Red Tour (Ozkonak).
Another beautiful stop was Narligol Lake, a serene volcanic crater lake that adds a unique natural element to the tour.
However, the biggest disappointment was the Ihlara Valley portion of the tour—or rather, the lack of it. Instead of trekking through the valley as expected, we were only taken to a coffee shop with a glass-floored observation deck, offering a distant view of the canyon. While the view was nice, it was no substitute for the immersive experience of walking through the valley itself.
This was misleading and disappointing, as the Ihlara Valley is one of the main attraction of the Green Tour. I hope future tours restore the trekking portion or, at the very least, set accurate expectations.
Check with your tour agency about the full itinerary beforehand to avoid surprises.

Well organised full day of exploring. Guide had a deep knowledge of all aspects of the tour. English was great and felt well looked after. Highlight was the underground cave. Plenty of value out of this tour.

The tour guide Ibrahim was good. The lunch was okay. The highlight of this tour was the underground city. It was the best, and for that having a tour guide was worth it. There were two advertising stops: gem center after pigeon valley, and a sweets/coffee/tea shop at the end of the tour. You can stay outside the buildings for these stops (I did) and just consider it a waiting period for the next stop.

This tour was so long... and not very exciting. The guide was monotone and the sites were mediocre. We got picked up at 9:30a and didn't get to stop for lunch until 2:30p. They took us to a "hike" briefly where we walked thru a camp ground with a bunch of trash and I thought it was weird that another random guy got in our van and rode with our driver for the short while. Felt like a personal agenda... maybe a sketchy one. Overall I felt safe, but the trip was WEIRD.... kind of a waste of a day. Also the food at the restaurant wasn't good and there was not even a view. There was only 1 women's toilet vs 2 dirty squat toilets so that wasn't pleasant.
Honestly everyone wanted to leave....

Mr. Furkan and his driver provided us with an excellent tour of Goreme panorama, pigeon valley, Kayseri underground city, Inhara valley (no hiking due to snow and mud), and Nar lake and few other shopping spots. He came to pick me up exactly on time, provided detailed plans for the day, history of each location and activities expected in clear English. He ordered lunch for us prior to getting to the restaurant in Inhara Valley. Vegetarian lunch was very tasty. I found the tour conducted by Mr Furkan to be very organized, professional and efficient. Each location visited was enjoyable, and I found this tour to be of excellent value.

Due to weather condicions, the green tour was canceled and they suggested me to join a red tour instead. It was snowing heavly and the landscape was beautiful. The tour guide was amazing doing what he could to gave US a great experience despite of the snow, wind and cold. The pottery workshop on Avanos was very cool also!

We had a great time with KK, he was well informed and helpful. We a had a bit too much time at the jewellery store, but the other parts were okay, we had enough time. The food was good, we had more options. I recommend this tour.

Tour was very nice, but specially for the guide. He was very profesional, tellinc us all the information and answering many questions. Again de problem is that the tour goes through a couple of places where they try to sell stones or other things to you. And that’s no funny and makes me put a 4 instead of 5. I really recommend the green tour instead of red, by the way.

The first 5.5hrs of this tour were pointless. Very brief stops & the info given on the fairy chimneys etc is all covered in far greater detail on the red tour. The lake is just green, nothing to do, again a brief 10 min stop to look at it
The restaurant for lunch was a cute spot but absolutely teeming with flies & wasps so impossible to eat. Guide said we could go for an explore after lunch if we wanted but as there’s a 45 min river hike included decided to wait for that. Turns out we had to take ourselves on that & therefore missed the opportunity to see the river & walk
The church info was interesting but again - brief stop &, the history is covered in far greater detail on the red tour at the open air museum
Then onto the underground city which was fascinating. It’s very busy though & the guide was being chivvied by other guides to hurry up so they could do their tour so it all felt very rushed
Then home
Had I known I would have just booked a tour of the underground city because the rest of it was a waste of time & the majority of the day was spent on the bus

Given that the tour covers several locations, and considering the opening and closing times of museums and historical sites, our guide needs to manage the timing to ensure that all parts of the tour are adequately covered. The tour you joined is called the "Green Tour," which specifically visits different locations compared to the "Red Tour." Each location offers unique natural beauty or historical significance, and comparing them directly may not be fair. It is understandable that certain spots may have captured your interest more than others, but we feel that this feedback may not fully reflect the tour's value.
In some areas, our guide may have been restricted from providing detailed explanations due to regulations. Furthermore, the tour you participated in was a shared group tour, not a private one, meaning that time constraints might prevent an exhaustive recount of the entire history. However, our guide is always available to answer any questions or delve deeper into topics that interest you. We did not mislead you with any incorrect expectations regarding the tour. While it’s unfortunate that the tour did not fully meet your personal expectations, this does not necessarily reflect the quality of our guide or the agency’s service. I would love to give this company a good review, but unfortunately, it is impossible. My husband and I booked the very common “Green Tour” with this company through Viator. Cappadocia is an amazing region and we were very excited to see some of its highlights all in one day, as this tour with this company was advertised. In the description, it said that we would visit Selime Monastery in addition to Derinkuyu underground city. This convinced us to book this tour. However, the tour that we went on did not even closely match the description. However, we didn’t visit either one of these sites. At least, we visited an underground city, Kaymakli, but again, not the one that was advertised. We were also not informed until the tour was almost over that we would not be visiting Selime Monastery at all on the tour. Instead, we visited a lake and two shopping centers, which we had no interest in doing, and which were not included in the description of the tour. Again, we chose this tour based on the description that was advertised online, and would not have gone on the tour if we had known that the company changed the itinerary. The best part about this tour was our guide, but he is not affiliated with this company at all. He is a freelance guide and even told us that these companies change the itineraries frequently without informing the clients. Viator should also make sure that the description that is provided on this site matches the description of the tour company’s site.

I usually prefer to explore things on my own, but given the time constraint some people recommended me to take a tour, and I’m so glad I did with this company. The guide spoke perfect English and he made the tour enjoyable and entertaining. Would definitely do it again!
