Dagron tours did have the driver accompany us on the tour but literally a driver, not a tour guide. They did have guides at the sites we visited however it would have been nice to understand some of the history and landmarks along the way. Luckily, I had another tour where the guide did this so my questions were answered.
Guyana has a long way to go where tourism is concerned. First of all be on time, and honor the time. Everyone seems to want to collect USD but the services are basic. Every meal is chicken and rice.
Viator also gave you an option to choose where you'd like Lunch but that was not an option on the day of the tour. Drinks were likely made with local water and nothing else was offered during the meals although the driver did have a cooler on the boat as we hopped from island to island.

This tour offers an opportunity for Guyana visitors to learn more about the historical culture of the area and enjoy a day out. Our guide Eugene was highly knowledgeable and shared it with us at the historical sights. Unfortunately the tour experience itself was not very good. The start time is 6am but they arrived at the meeting poing like 6:15 and only departed 6:45, so already a lot of time wasted. This continued to be a theme throughout the day, when the group was not managed for time effectively and there were times of confusion. The group was completely full at 28 people, so was the old bus and old, battered boat.... which was the worst part of the whole experience. All the inside seats were taken, which left half a dozen guys no choice but to sit on the unsheltered rear deck, getting completely wet for 2 hour bumpy boat ride. There were a couple of vocal customers which did not help the mood. The Sloth island option was also unavailable for reasons not explained, and the resort was nothing to get excited about. At the end I was offered to be dropped off at my hotel as it was on the way, a pleasant surprise, so I did not need to worry about security if I had to wait for a taxi in the dark downtown streets.

Hello Jonathon.
Thank you very much for your feedback. We are delighted that you enjoyed the guiding skills of our guide, Eugene.
This trip was scheduled to go to Sloth Island however; the majority booked for the other resort that day and we combined the group to avoid cancelling your trip.
Our day tour to Essequibo River, currently has a 6:15am check in time and departure is usually around 6:30am. We try our best to accommodate late visitors who are slightly delayed in traffic conditions or inclement weather.
The boat in which the group travelled in is a JETBOAT that is considered to be best option when travelling in Guyana’s rivers. Jetboats, unlike tightly sealed wooden boats, are ideal for groups of over 23 and offer a better ride on the waves. I am sorry about you getting wet, due to the rainy conditions.
Thank you for your feedback . They will be taken into consideration in the future. Best regards,
