MThis experience was truly worth it. As a Guyanese living abroad for many years, I felt so grateful to experience this with my partner. I haven’t seen much beyond Georgetown, so this felt humbling and grounding in the best way. To witness the beauty of simple living reminded me of where I come from — and made me even prouder to be Guyanese. We loved the tour. It was informative, exciting and loads of fun. Dave our guide was excellent and full of information. It was so good to see the beauty of Guyana from the Essequibo River. And we were lucky enough to see a Sloth and get to swim in the river. A day I’ll never forget.

Firstly the guide was very informative and enlightened us on the Dutch presence and influence in Guyana. That boat ride was exciting, I don’t like small boats, but I felt comfortable. This was our first trip to that part of the Essequibo, thank you Wanderlust, we had an amazing day.

Great tour! We saw a lot and I appreciated the opportunity to go south into the green part of the country. The trip was interesting, fun, and well-executed, with a variety of activities. Tour guide Chris was very helpful, intelligent, and enthusiastic. I got a lot of exercise. The boat rides were very relaxing and the waterfall was fun. All the guests other than me were from Guyana so I loved that. The actual trip was 5 star but I gave it 4 due to transport issues. The bus driver had the AC so strong that it was like a freezer. I brought a jacket and closed the vents, but I was still cold. I asked him to turn it down which he did, but just a little. What really upset me is the driver did the same thing on the way back! I wasn't the only freezing person. Other people were also cold but too shy to complain. The bus rides were long so this was a big negative. I don't understand why the guide did not manage this. I also was frightened (as a woman alone) not being dropped off by the bus. Chris kindly called a taxi for me but I was scared. I know this isn't an easy problem to drop people off after such a long day. Overall very good and a capable travel company. I went on two adventures.

Really good and excited trip. Had a good day out being educated on the history of Guyana. Lovely food at slot Island and must mention, water, juice and snacks helped us to keep going. Recommend you book this tour for your entire family.

This tour was a great start to my solo trip to Guyana! Dave, our wonderful guide, lead us through each stop with an emphasis on fun and safety. The journey to and on the boat was relaxing. Once you’re off the boat some walking is required but the history and the experiences is worth the day in the sun. Hat/umbrella is a must!

Overall the trip was good, the tour guide was very knowledgeable, however, when we got to the falls which was the last leg and the highlight of the trip I was extremely disappointed. The falls was beautiful, but right next to it was literally a garbage dump, used pampers, discarded plates cups and every other possible item that would be found in the garbage was there. This spoiled the whole experience for myself, and a few others who immediately walked back to the dock and waited for the boat. It looks like several tourist group take tourists to this location, why not collaborate with each other and pay to have the area around the falls cleaned, and sanitized. After leaving I felt like taking a shower, it was revolting.

The overall excursion trip was amazing! David did an excellent job with the history and facts of each stop location also answering questions. He was very personable and Nice to everyone. My husband & I asked to be dropped off near our hotel and David make that accommodation for us.

My guest and I had a wonderful time on this tour, with Jamal, who was an exceptional tour guide and easily the highlight of the day trip. He is punctual, informative, funny, and considerate; Wanderlust is extremely lucky to have such an asset in their company.
Speaking of the tour itself, the modes of transportation were bus and speedboat; both felt safe and were operated with consideration, diligence, and skill. Jamal was kind enough to point things out throughout the day that were not listed on our itinerary. On the tour, my favorite stop was Baracara Falls; super cool and relaxing, so I suggested to Jamal to omit Aruwai Resort from the itinerary for future patrons, as that was my least favorite stop.
For those unfamiliar with Guyana, and Essequibo specifically, this would be a great way to immerse yourself in local culture. I highly, highly recommend this trip-- request Jamal to be your tour guide!

Pros: We had beautiful weather.
Tour guide was excellent. The history and knowledge of the tour guide made the trip! The sites were nice. The food was good and the resort was nice and peaceful. The Cons: The bus is an upgraded mini van with no bathroom. The boats are old and tiny, need newer ones. The tour travel time to the different islands are more than the actual time you stay at the islands. The ride back home is brutal because you are going against the tide! They should have a form to request car service going and coming especially if you don't know guyana well. The staff members did not wait until all passengers had secured transportation back to their residence and the area at night can be concerning. Wear comfortable sneakers you walk a lot. Last final comment I WOULD NOT suggest this tour for little children UNDER 10. or ELDERLY people because the walking and boat issues are a lot!

Your feedback is appreciated, we always strive to improve our guest experience on our tours where possible . In regards to the bus and boat, unfortunately at this time in Guyana some transportation is not fully equipped with all modern facilities you will find in more developed countries. However we do ensure our buses and boats are safe and comfortable and we ensure we book both with more capacity than guests, The bus you would have used was a 40 seater bus and the boat a 30 seater, We had a max of 25 guests booked for this tour, this was to ensure the most comfortable experience for all our guests. I am surprised to hear that our team member did not wait on all guests to depart before he left, Our policy is to ensure that all of our guests have left before we leave. We apologize for this short coming and we will speak to our team and remind them of their responsibilities. In regards, to the last comment, we actually have had many toddlers and elderly persons that thoroughly enjoyed this tour and do not discourage anyone persons of any age from joining our tours. Once again, we are so happy the tour guides knowledge, the food and the sites were up to your expectations and we look forward to hosting you again sometime soon.

The glorious ride on the Essequibo River!
A good tour except for an invasion of flies on Sloth Island. This made it impossible to enjoy lunch.

The tour guide and drivers were all great. This tour starts on a bus. I enjoyed seeing some of the area beyond the walkable distance near my hotel. We got on a boat and stopped at a few islands in the river. There was a nice mix of attractions: a few historic buildings, a few nature areas, a good look at mining and industry. Be warned that this is an outdoorsy tour: you will walk through mud, you will ford a stream, you will get wet on the boat, and you will likely get rained on.
We were with a surprisingly large group that did not make for pleasant travel companions. They complained constantly, talked over the tour guide, and were always late. The only part I can blame on the guide is that he didn't enforce the schedule. The group was literally 30 minutes late returning to the boat at our first stop. The guide did not say anything, which seemed to give permission for them to be late for the rest of the day. As a result, we had to hurry at the best stop (a waterfall that you can sit in) and had to skip the last stop.
